About Jillian
I have a Master's degree in Music Therapy, am a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC); performer and vocal instructor (Bachelor's in Classical Voice); certified yoga instructor and meditation guide (200+); certified and attuned Reiki master; professional writer and editor.

...I find joy in a lot of places! And often I find these areas of study inform and augment each other.

Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism spectrum disorder, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances and developmental delays as well as teens and adults with psychosocial issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, personality disorders, and more.

I incorporate my experience as a therapist into the educative se
tting.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I am a professional vocalist in NYC. I perform liturgical and classical music, as well as musical theater repertoire. I participate in professional operas, choral groups and other concert series, as well as professional theater work. Performing gives me a sense of bliss and completeness that is indescribable.

As a certified yoga instructor, I teach in many locations throughout NYC. I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I went on to complete advanced trainings and now specialize in restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, yin yoga and therapeutics. I offer private yoga instruction and meditation at my home studio, and on occasion in my clients’ homes. My studio comes fully equipped with all yoga props, aromatherapy, and music. Hands-on-assists and personalized sequencing to deepen your experience.

It is a joy to offer Reiki to curious, open clients in need of energy healing. Reiki is a noninvasive energy healing technique totally separate of any religious affiliation and available to anyone. It is a difficult to describe the relaxing, soothing, and deep-healing effects of Reiki to someone who has never experienced.

Please feel free to inquire about any of my services!

*Note: If you don't see a time slot that is suitable to your needs but would like to try a session with me, feel free to register for the Flex Plan, and we will work out week-to-week times!!**

**Note: If you are interested in music therapy, please email me with a bit about yourself (or your loved one) and your personal goals, as well as the qualities you hope to find in your therapist.

Excellent first voice lesson. Jillian is warm, encouraging, and very knowledgeable. I was surprised how many "technical" issues she introduced me to (optimal breathing & how best to practice it at home; appropriate use of falsetto at upper limit of bass voice range, etc.) . Looking forward to continued lessons. (Much better use of what used to be my copay for psychotherapy! I've also joined rehearsals with new Encore-NYC chorale group in Manhattan, for people over 55. Music is giving me a real emotional lift in my retirement.)

Jillian is a very friendly, gifted and delightful person to work with, and would be a good match for literally anybody. She's helped with my vocals more than any other teacher has. Thank you Jillian!

About Claire
I hold an MFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts and have been teaching professionally for over ten years. I teach Acting and Auditiong to young actors (10-18 years) and I also teach Public Speaking, Voice/Speech and Accent Reduction to those looking to find more ease and power when using their voice in front of others. I have taught, directed and coached young actors who have gone on to work professionally in Film, TV and Theater and my students have been accepted to renowned conservatories and universities across the country (NYU Tisch, California Institute of the Arts, AMDA and others). I am a passionate teacher who believes in the individual and in unlocking the creative genius, the impulses, the imagination and the unique forms of expression within each of my students. In my sessions, I encourage my students to
“play” and to discover how to both lean in and tap in to what is there and then develop relaxation, ease and focus on the task at hand - a monologue, an audition, a speech or working with a text. In addition to teaching and coaching actors, I have worked extensively in the corporate worlds in areas of Voice, Speech and Presentation as a coach and have taught group classes on Public Speaking and Presentation. I have taught and coached students from China, Russia, Taiwan, Italy, Japan in addition to the U.S. Throughout the ten plus years that I have been teaching, I have helped both actors and non-actors, those in the professional business world, gain tools that lead to freedom and ease of expression when speaking in front of others, be it at an audition, an interview, giving a presentation to a board or speaking in front of thousands at a Ted Talk.

Claire is a professional. She is a natural born teacher who immediately clicked with my son. She gave him the tools he needed for an upcoming audition at a theatre conservatory. Anyone from beginner to dedicated professional would benefit from private lessons with her. We feel very lucky we found her with so many less qualified people out there.

About JESSICA
Having spent my entire (short) life in choirs, music classes, and private lessons, I learned one thing to enforce above all else: it’s okay to be wrong. You’ll hit wrong notes, your fingers will slip, you’ll need to work on posture. And that’s okay. I was privately trained in the Belle Canto style for 10 years, but to this day I forget to breathe properly. It’s not the end of anything. It’s rarely even the end of the song.

I’ve coached professional and amateur singers for 3 years, coached diction and pronunciation for 4, and worked for a local opera company for the past 4 years as well. If it’s something you choose to do, I’m prepared to instruct proper technique as applied to a multitude of languages.

But above all, I strive for you to be comfortable and happy with your instruction. Music is for the soul. It should never make you fee
l worse to make it.

My name is Denise and I am hard of hearing. I have known ASL since I was 6 years old. I am a mother of 3 busy boys, they all are hearing and know some ASL. I am currently a SAHM mom, but I do have a side job through Shipt which I can create my own work schedule which is amazing for my family. I also officiate weddings for deaf couples. I used to teach ASL classes but that was put on hold so I can raise my kids but now that my kids are older, I have more flexibility in my schedule now to teach again. You will not be disappointed with me, we will have a good time together learning ASL, I am very kind and patient!

30 Quirky New Year's Traditions From Around the World
How much do you know about New Year's Eve traditions? Here in the U.S., you know what to do: gather your friends and family, turn on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve in the background, and count down from 10 as midnight nears. At the strike of the clock, you know to toast everyone as the fireworks blast off, sing a verse of "Auld Lang Syne," and sneak in a New Year's kiss, if you can! But outside of the United States, did you know there are some much more quirky New Year's Eve tradition
15 Fun-to-Say Japanese Onomatopoeias (With Audio)
What Are Japanese Onomatopoeias? An onomatopoeia is a word where meaning is derived from a sound, or when a word sounds like how it looks. In English, we have onomatopoeias like "cock-a-doodle-doo" for the sound a rooster makes, or "crunch" for the act of crushing things. Onomatopoeias are quite common in many, if not all languages. We tend to notice them most in comics as sound effects: zippers "zip" and light switches "click." They're fun to say and they certainly aren't hard to learn.
