I am an experienced native speaking German tutor who has been teaching students of all ages and levels. I am a certified Montessori Teacher. I believe in gently guiding, supporting, encouraging but also challenging my students. I love to share many fun facts , i.e. hilarious literal translations, as well as cultural and historical background of Germany. This will give my student a well balanced foundation, he /she will really experience the language, get a “real feel” for it! I customize my curriculum to my students needs, wishes and goals. After a few lessons my students can speak easy sentences and phrases in German already, they will understand even more and will use their newly acquired skills continuously. I strongly stress speaking in my native language to my students from an early point on. It is very important to me to make the language learning a pleasant and enjoyable experience! There shall be lots of laughter! However diligent work and great effort is necessary

Would you like to prepare for your next vacation? Do you need to learn German for your new job, or do you just want to improve your skills you've learned in school?

As a native German I can teach you German on a high level! The best way to do that is starting with a simple conversation. Learning through talking, gestures and pictures is the most natural and easy way to be successful in a new language!

As I'm from Hanover I speak the cleanest German with no accent at all! My knowledge of grammar and syntax will help you to learn the 'correct' German!

About Judith

Hi there! I am Judith, a professional Pop/Rock/Jazz singer and pianist. In 2009 I've got my Master's degree in Popular Music Voice Education at the University of Music & Drama in Hanover, Germany, and for more than 10 years I've worked as a voice instructor and freelance singer/pianist in Germany

I’ve worked with Judith for a few years now and she does a great job working with my goals for learning German. She is very patient and flexible with our learning and lessons!

Judith is wonderful! All the issues I've had with my voice and singing for years, she addressed with pinpoint accuracy and expert instruction to help me correct them; even the things I didn't know how to explain! She has a great ear and a wealth of practical knowledge to share. After my first month of lessons, my singing is so much better! She is so kind and non-judgmental, and fun to work with, too. With Judith's help and encouragement, I'm hitting notes and singing songs I didn't think I had the range for and turning my good voice into a great voice. Thank you so much, Judith!

Excellent instruction and great personality! Highly recommend Judith!

I first started learning German due to a serendipitous move to Oklahoma following my junior year of high school. I have since really grown to love the German language and ended up getting a BA in German Studies (jointly with a BA in Spanish). I really love German literature, whether it's Goethe or Michael Ende, and I really enjoy Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Händel, and also Lieder (Shubert's "Erlkönig" being my favorite). I am also a huge fan of Die Prinzen. I consider myself an expert in grammar-related topics (including verb conjugation, cases, Konjunktiv I and II, etc.) but am also willing to teach vocabulary, pronunciation, and other topics.

About Paul

I hail from Walla Walla, Washington, home of the "famous" sweet onions. I can't begin to express how much I love languages!! I have studied 8 so far (Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, and Dutch) and I teach 5 (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Japanese), and w

What is my approach? First of all, I listen carefully, very carefully. I believe it is important for an excellent job to know precisely what my client wants to accomplish. Understanding this is the prerequisite to give good advice, guidance and then, of course, a plan, a kind of strategy to follow in order to reach these goals. There will be a permanent interaction between my client and myself to monitor the progress, eventually speed up the tempo or, if necessary, to slow down.
There is no dogma; there is only one main criterion: success.

About Wolfgang

I spent two decades of my professional life teaching English in Germany, authoring and co-authoring textbooks for the English classroom. During my stay in the US, I had the opportunity to develop curricula for teaching German in public schools as well as private schools and wrote articles in the fi

Wolfgang is an amazing, tutor, teacher and mentor. I’ve always had a desire to learn German and Wolfgang has fostered and great learning environment that has allowed me to continue to pursue my passion.
In my time with Wolfgang I have gained a greater appreciation for the German language, culture and idiosyncrasies. He has far-reaching expertise that goes beyond a text book. His linguistic knowledge will keep you on the right track and he will ensure you are having a fun time as well.
In the two years I have known Wolfgang he has been generous, challenging and a joy to be around and I look forward to each class.

Wolfgang is an excellent teacher and more importantly a great resource! He takes his time and quickly determines the best learning techniques (and also the pace) for his students. I have always dreamed of being able to speak a second language and with the help from Wolfgang, I can speak with native speakers, read in the language and even use it in my professional setting. Wolfgang truly has taught me far more than the basics and more importantly keeps me motivated for more!

Wolfgang is not only extremely knowledgeable of the German language in its grammatical form, but also the culture, the usage of the language, and the history of the language as well. He will no doubt give you the most in depth explanations for any questions you may have and will also do it without making you feel ashamed for asking! His lessons are fun, intuitive, and extremely helpful.

I highly recommend Wolfgang for your language learning goals! He is always punctual, always prepared, and answers any questions you may have, no matter how many times he has to explain it! Please give him a chance, he is a wealth of knowledge, makes his lessons fun, and I promise you will not regret it!!

Wolfgang is a knowledgeable and experienced teacher, with an excellent understanding of where I am in terms of polishing up my rusty German. I find myself much more fluent, which I would not be, had I not taken lessons.

I grew up at the Northern tip of the Black Forest in Southwestern Germany and have spent most of my childhood vacations at my grandparents' in the Eifel region, close to the border with Luxemburg. Therefore, I got to grow up with standard German and two quite distinct dialects of German.

Once I started teaching German to refugees and did an internship in a university German class I started to become aware of the intricacies of German grammar and vocabulary and saw it with new eyes. Frankly, I may not be able to explain ALL grammatical phenomena, but it will be my pleasure to explore and expand my knowledge of German with you.

We can discuss what life in the German-speaking world is like, explore German literature and music, and along the way have a look at the grammar, vocabulary and prosody you may need to talk about those things.

Los geht's! :)

"Kerstin worked with my son in preparation for the GERMAN SAT Subject test. She was excellent. Kerstin was always punctual, professional and personable. She is able to combine a structured approach to learning with a cool, "lets make this fun" attitude which works beautifully with teenagers. My son, though a good student, could not reliably have aced this German Subject test on his own. Kerstin was able to motivate him to do his best, which is no small feat, since I am clueless as how to do this myself. She has also tutored my younger son in German with equally remarkable results. Both my kids adore her and there is no whining about her tutoring sessions. HIGHLY recommended."
