Taught American Sign Language (ASL) full-time and part-time (nights) for 39 years, just recently retired from full-time teaching. I have primarily used Signing Naturally (SN) workbooks, all levels. I have also used Learning American Sign Language (LASL).
Currently, I am teaching Deaf Culture as an online course at San Diego Mesa College.
I have been using ASL since I was 4 years old and I have attended California School for the Deaf, Berkeley (Fremont) and Riverside. I have received valuable experience from Deaf peers of Deaf parents, Deaf adults and Deaf leaders. In this sense, I am a native user of ASL and ASL Fingerspelled Signs.
Graduated from Gallaudet College (University) in Washington, D.C. with a B.S. in Business Administration. I received two Masters degrees from California State University, Northridge, one in Deaf Education and the other in Educational Administration. I received my Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from University of Southern California ...

Being born to deaf parents, my first language is American Sign Language. I am a CODA (child of deaf adult). My primary language is English and an expert ASL signer. By nature, Im apart of the Deaf/HH community and look to grow in advocating. I would like to reach hearing parents with deaf children or even hearing children with deaf parents by helping them advance in using their sign language skills proficiently.
I’m also interested in working with students whom are interested in ASL as a second language or even a hobby. Taking ASL in high school and need tutoring? I can assist in learning the visual and gestural communication of the signing.

Amber is fantastic with kids as well as kind and patient. She is a native speaker of ASL and can answer any question you have about it. Unfortunately for the last few months she's missed about every third class without even an apology. For the last two weeks she's completely no showed to lessons and is no longer responding to email.

Just did the free intro class with you and really enjoyed it! You were patient and repeated things slowly when we needed it. My son's review: "I loved it and I learned a lot!"
My almost 10yr old son took it with me as he's been wanting to learn sign language to help him communicate. He's ADHD and gets frustrated super fast and likes to communicate non verbally when he's mad so we've been looking to learning "officially". We learned today the colors of the rainbow along with his favorite color gold, numbers and letters. We hope to take a paid class soon when we have discretionary funds :)

He is very knowledgeable not only in ASL, but also in interpreting, which is great for my studies; I plan on having lessons with him throughout my studies for further help and practice.

He is super passionate about teaching ASL and goes out of his way to send you resources, links and information to further help your learning and practice of the language. Truly one of a kind!

I highly recommend him for learning any level of ASL!

What are the Different Types of Sign Languages?

Many people are surprised or even shocked to learn that American Sign Language is not universal.
