Dan has been absolutely amazing! From the very first lesson, he has been nothing but kind, patient and funny throughout all our sessions. Every lesson he incorporates games and anecdotes making it so much fun to learn!

He is very knowledgeable not only in ASL, but also in interpreting, which is great for my studies; I plan on having lessons with him throughout my studies for further help and practice.

He is super passionate about teaching ASL and goes out of his way to send you resources, links and information to further help your learning and practice of the language. Truly one of a kind!

I highly recommend him for learning any level of ASL!

This class can be done various ways.
1) I can tutor you for a ASL class you are currently taking.
2) I can help you keep fresh on ASL you already know (we can spend class practicing communication skills.
3) We can learn the basics (ABCs, Counting, Colors, and so on) Basically start from the beginning as an ASL 1 class and we can work our way toward understanding and communicating.

I have students who are doing this for their career in order to communicate to deaf people they come to contact with in their professional life. For those students I base our classes around signs they would use in there place of work. Some occupations of my current students include: Nurse, Social Worker, Santa, US Military, Flight Attendant, and more.
I also teach students who have zero ASL background and we start with the very basic signs and work our way to forming sentences and battling the ASL grammar.
No matter where you are in your journey of sign language, this class will be perfect for you.

Starla makes it a point that you understand why certain signs are signed the way that they are and gives examples to make it much easier for you to remember. Patience is what she has a lot of. Trust me, if she can be have patience with me, you got it made in the shade. She will continue to go over and over signs with you until you got it down pat. "I was pleased to be Tony's first principal. His knowledge of subject matter and interest in his students was exemplary. He was a devoted teacher who had an enthusiasm for all aspects of his responsibilities and that zeal seemed to radiate toward those around him. I would highly recommend him and have little doubt but that you'd find him eager to meet the needs of any student. If you are looking for an instructor who will make a difference, look no further!"

How to Teach Deaf Children to Read

Hearing Loss According to the CDC, at least one in 1,000 babies are born with a hearing loss. Historically, a hearing loss could go overlooked in a baby for months and even years, but fortunately, at present approximately 98% of infants are screened for a hearing loss.
