My specialty is teaching tap as a musical instrument. For me, the movement serves the sound rather than a visual effect. No matter if you're a beginning, intermediate or advanced student, you will discover the potential of the human body to help internalize musical concepts such as phrasing, form, improvisation, and self-expression, as well as gain organic access to complex musical structures. Whether your focus is on building tap dance skills, seeking to connect body and mind in a profound and musical way, or are a musician who wants to become more connected and physically involved with the groove within - you are in the right place! The tap steps are merely tools to access your unique voice. My tap lessons combine technique, improvisation, and combinations with mindfulness, breathing, and body awareness exercises. Find the groove that is within you!

Acting is all about experiencing what life has to offer. With decades of experience acting in professional and informal roles, I have so much experience to draw upon to help you find what works for you and your dreams of acting. Each of us has different talents, strengths and weaknesses, and all of our qualities can be utilized to explore the multifaceted art of acting. I can help you see and better understand what you bring to the table so that we can hone your skills, focus your attention and intention, and even figure out how to turn any weaknesses into powerful crafting tools.

My background in Psychology gives me excellent insight into the rich playground of character development and the ability to help you find the characters within you, even the ones you never would have imagined you could be. I have the gift for making the path of learning to act a seriously playful journey that can help you reach your goal, whether they are to entertain, inform, enrich, or just

"Alex was my Movement and Voice/Speech instructor in my graduate programme. I had done my undergrad in acting overseas and then moved to LA to complete my MFA in Acting. In my undergrad programme, I absolutely detested every Tuesday and Friday when we had Movement and Voice...but all that changed when Alex became my teacher for these subjects. Suddenly these were my favourite subjects. She made me actually look forward to going to class at 9am. I looked forward to what I was going to learn next from her.

She was so attentive to ALL her students, no matter your level. She always found time to work with you in whatever you were struggling with. She really truly cared about us. It was unlike anything I'd experienced with any other teacher I'd have ever. At one point, I was victim to some intimidation from another student in my class. Alex was the first person I confided in and she guided me through what I should do and how I should handle it, she was completely there for me, even allowing me to call her past 10pm to calm me down after one particularly bad encounter with said student.

Her lessons are prepared, structured and completely engaging. Somehow she is able to detect exactly what you personally need to work on and makes sure you are offered the most appropriate advice that best suits your personal needs. I can't even quite express how much I have learnt from her in the short four months that she was my teacher. She has exposed me to so many different techniques and exercises which, through her guidance, afforded me the opportunity to choose what worked for me.

If there is one thing that you cannot deny about Alex, she genuinely cares about her students, sometime to the detriment of her own life. She is an extraordinary teacher and an even more exceptional woman.

As cliche as this is, she inspires me to not only be a better actor, but to just be a better person."

"I came to Jennie with basically 0 acting experience and wow am I glad I went to Jennie. She is the most kind, compassionate and supportive instructor out there. Her knowledge was vast and whether you want to get into film, Tv, theater or just wanna get out of your shell, Jennie is the instructor for you.

She helped me every step of the way to hone my craft, work on monologues, mock audition and so much more. Jennie’s way of teaching makes you think differently and she truly brings out the best side of you. Plus Jennie is so supportive going at my speed giving constructive feed back and making me feel great about my progress.

Lastly, Jennie was understanding of my time and worked around my schedule as well as the “homework” or “things to work on” she gave. Jennie was flexible and the Zoom calls worked incredibly well during this pandemic. Every day I would get off of our call with a smile on my face feeling accomplished!

Overall I would say Jennie was helpful, knowledgeable and a great instructor. I would highly recommend her for anyone who is looking to start acting and have no idea where to begin."
