Interested in dance lessons? Carolyn began working professionally at 8 years old and has since appeared on stage, in national commercials, recorded voiceovers, and booked principal roles in both film and television. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2011 from the Boston Conservatory, where she majored in musical theater with an emphasis in directing. With years of extensive dance training, she's had the opportunity to perform the original Broadway choreography in several major productions she has been a part of, her favorite being the tap spectacular "42nd Street." As an award winning choreographer, her pieces have been recognized nationally at dance competitions across the country.

I’m available to teach private lessons for teens and adults interested in learning tap for the first time, or who want to improve their skills. My strengths are patience, enthusiasm, and an unusual way of approaching dance. I’m not famous or particularly interested in becoming famous, so if that’s your goal, I’m not the right teacher for you. I strongly believe everyone can dance, and should. All bodies can learn to dance and enjoy themselves. Dance should be joyful, about self-expression, and a way of learning about your body and your spirit. Finally, I believe it’s never too late to start learning something new, and your bucket list should not wait until you retire.

I am a teacher of 13 years and I love what I do!
Tap is a fun style of dance that combines percussive footwork and rhythmic choreography for a great workout. My tap lessons include a warm up, technical training, across the floor, choreography, and improvisation. We begin with the basics while focusing on correct technique to build a solid foundation and style. From there we continue to build skills by adding more advanced patterns, intricate footwork, challenging techniques, and choreography. From classical roots to more contemporary adaptations, tap offers exciting dance training to people of every age and skill level.

My tap dance lessons will be tailored to you. Let me know what your goals are and what your motivation is for taking these dance lessons, and I will do my best to help you reach those goals. I have been extensively trained and have had several years of experience teaching many styles of dance - Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Scottish Highland, and Ballroom (including International and American styles). Here on TakeLessons, I am only teaching Tap dance online as it is easily taught within the home. I have worked in dance studios for several years and was able to teach a couple of beginning and intermediate social dance courses at Brigham Young University as a student instructor as well. I am passionate about all things dance and am excited to go on this journey with you.

~For this class tap shoes and a hard wood floor or board to tap on are recommended- however if you want to try it out for the first time, sneakers work as well.~
This class is for you if you want to try something new- no former experience needed and want to learn the basics,
or if you have a little bit of experience and want to brush up on your technique.
You can either suggest a song, that I will be choreographing to, or we are just working on specific areas, that you choose.
Class is always about you.
Learn in an encouraging and positive environment.
