Audio for picture is a special gift. And one of the few places you can get paid to create orchestral music any more. If you have the passion to do this, I can show you how to set up a system to realize your dream. Make no mistake, you need the theory and many other skills as well. But you will learn the flow and energy that is critical to making a scene come to life. And you might be the next Hans Zimmer. An integrated approach: Music almost always involves several skills. Below are some of the complementary skills that I can help you with. In my Semper Method, we always address several of them at every session. For example, we record, sing and play all the time. To sing you should be able to pick out intervals at the piano, or better yet, accompany yourself and everyone needs some music theory. So it really is all one thing. Accompaniment, Arrangement and Composition, Audio Engineering, Audition Prep, Composition, Ear Training, Film Scoring, Jazz Voice, Logic Pro Software, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Piano, Singing, Songwriting, Speaking Voice, Spoken Word, Vocal Training.

If you are ready to start taking your music skills SERIOUSLY then stop wasting time and money on teachers who don't fully understand the instrument or subject matter themselves. My name is Russ and I have been playing guitar professionally for 20 years and teaching music and producing records for over 15. I have a Platinum #1 Billboard charting record under my belt, worked with artists such as Mac Miller, Sean Kingston, Red Velvet, Lifehouse and more; and have composed music to 100s of your favorite TV shows! Feel free to browse my official website for a full list of credits. Want to learn to shred guitar? Produce beats? Write your own songs? Dive into theory? Record yourself? Do you want to learn how to put music to video using Logic Pro? Well then, sign up! Using Logic to put music into short films, webisodes, and commercials is a big passion of mine. I'd love to show you all about it. ~ Mark is an American composer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer. I started teaching private music lessons my senior year of high school, in 2006. Since then I've taught over 100 different students of all ages from 3 years old to 78 years old. While still living in Ohio, I was the one and only official guitar teacher for Guitar Center Youngstown through the duration of 2008-2009. In late 2009, after moving to Los Angeles, I continued to teach privately and with several music schools all around the city. I currently live in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of LA with my wife and two little kids.

Film scoring lessons are for experienced composers who already have a solid grasp of basics in notation, harmony, form, and instrumentation. Lessons tend to be project-oriented and in this format we will work on various elements including orchestration, music syncing, narrative interpretation, etc. Primary text: On the Track by Karlin & Wright. Lessons are a minimum of 60 minutes once per week. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study as well as bring samples (printed and recorded if possible) of their work.

I have been working as a professional film composer since 2011, working on everything from 15-second commercials to feature-length pieces, ranging from rock to solo piano to full orchestral compositions. In our discussions, we will cover instrumentation, composing for video without pre-existing music, working with temp. tracks, co-creating with vision from the director, recording & syncing up your score to the multimedia at hand. The end goal is to sufficiently serve what's on the screen & support that through music, rather than detracting from the overall feel of the piece. This will be a quintessential cornerstone of our lessons. There are many ways to approach film scoring, being a very personally-invested medium, & my duty is to open as many doors & pathways to finding your unique voice as an aspiring film composer.
