Looking to start or enhance a career as a voice actor? Just looking for a fun way to become more in tune with your voice and body? I can help guide you to achieve your personal goals.
Using my background in linguistics, singing and acting, I will show you how the human body can produce a wide range of sounds for diverse effects. Voice-over work traditionally centers on animation, but we will discuss different ways of approaching radio, commercial and both child and adult-oriented cartoons for a deeper knowledge and skill set. We will do warm ups that classical singers use as well as analyze other voice artists' work to see what is best for you.
About Matthew
I am a world traveler with over 13 years of tutoring experience. I also have weight trained for about 15 years. Recently received my PhD in sociolinguistics at the University of Pittsburgh, I received my MA in Spanish linguistics from NYU and can help you with many different areas. My experience as

James was able to convey that my fear of public speaking was irrational, and with several key preparation techniques I would be able to overcome this lifelong challenge. All true! Thanks James!"

My approach to Bellydance is all about body awareness. I work with students on understanding body mechanics in order to eventually be able to layer increasingly complex, grounded and fluid movements. Wether your goal is professional dance or simply to enjoy a new hobby, classes are tailored to your needs!
Private classes are 30 mins-2 hours. The first half of class focuses exercises to help pinpoint the right muscles. The second half is on our feet performing drills and dancing!

I firmly believe that the ability to act well resides within every person who has the desire to act. In order to access this ability, actors need to develop a strong sense of self, increase their confidence, and rid themselves of the habitual tensions that hold them back. Therefore, I believe good actor training is personal, individualized, and focused on self discovery.
Lessons with me will focus first and foremost on discovering and honoring yourself as a person and an artist, and then on developing your relationship with the text. We can work on a specific piece or pieces (for an audition or a performance), or on plays, scenes or monologues that we choose together, to help develop you as a performer. No matter what, text we choose, we will focus on you speaking own personal truth through your performance.
I have recently been accepted into an elite graduate actor training program, and so I have had experience and success at preparing school auditions. I can help you put together ...

She is friendly, affable, and listens. I absolutely recommend her!"

I have been in financial business for many years. Recently, I took a project and need to adapt quickly to play a role in a film within very short time period. I am very lucky to find Kim:
(1) She is well prepared for each lesson. She understood clearly about my objectives;
(2) She gives me lots of valuable tips to improve my acting skills;
(3) She is very quick to grasp the film writer and director's intention for the role;
(4) She pays great attention to every detail of the script to help me to maximize my potential in the role;
(5) She goes above and beyond: she reviews my recording and gives me great feedback after the lesson; she went through multiple scripts within very short time period on her own time;
(6) She is extremely fun to work with;
I just finished my second lesson with Kim. She is not only a great acting coach, but a great actor! She is definitely a go to person in my future film venture!!!"
