I have experience teaching/tutoring ASL for over 5 years now. As an American Sign Language Interpreter; I have learned about the beautiful language, it's culture and it's people. Having a deaf family member myself, this language has a special place in my heart. Now, I hope to have the opportunity to share with you what I've learned and assist you in your learning adventure!

Being born to deaf parents, my first language is American Sign Language. I am a CODA (child of deaf adult). My primary language is English and an expert ASL signer. By nature, Im apart of the Deaf/HH community and look to grow in advocating. I would like to reach hearing parents with deaf children or even hearing children with deaf parents by helping them advance in using their sign language skills proficiently.
I’m also interested in working with students whom are interested in ASL as a second language or even a hobby. Taking ASL in high school and need tutoring? I can assist in learning the visual and gestural communication of the signing.

A brief intro to Deaf Culture and ASL Crash Course

I enjoy using American Sign Language as both a fun creative outlet through interpretation, and as a tool to communicate with members of the Deaf community. I have taught vocabulary and culture to students levels 1-3 and try to add as many relevant cultural insights as possible to my lessons.

Students can expect to focus on fingerspelling, hand shapes, vocabulary, facial expression, body language, and ASL interpretation skills.

I am certified in American Sign Language. I can help teach for the basics.

Taught American Sign Language (ASL) full-time and part-time (nights) for 39 years, just recently retired from full-time teaching. I have primarily used Signing Naturally (SN) workbooks, all levels. I have also used Learning American Sign Language (LASL).
Currently, I am teaching Deaf Culture as an online course at San Diego Mesa College.
I have been using ASL since I was 4 years old and I have attended California School for the Deaf, Berkeley (Fremont) and Riverside. I have received valuable experience from Deaf peers of Deaf parents, Deaf adults and Deaf leaders. In this sense, I am a native user of ASL and ASL Fingerspelled Signs.
Graduated from Gallaudet College (University) in Washington, D.C. with a B.S. in Business Administration. I received two Masters degrees from California State University, Northridge, one in Deaf Education and the other in Educational Administration. Bringing American Sign Language (ASL) communication to life with some fun. Some deaf studies to show the communication of where its origin and how the beautiful language develop over time.

There will be ASL 1, 2, and 3 depending on the skills you either need help with tutoring to beginning stage of basic ASL understanding. You'll be learning ABC, numbers, shapes, 5 indicators of hand motions that are extremely important in ASL.
