About Rosita
I have been singing and studying voice for over 23 years since I was a child! I hold a Bachelors from Musicians Institute and other accomplished degrees from American Musical Dramatic Academy to conclude my quest for vocal excellence and the ability to sing in multiple languages ( English, Spanish, Japanese and Italian) I have been lucky enough to study with some of the top teachers in the country and now I bring the experience I have gained directly to you!

I am proud to share my student's vast array of musical successes. From being cast on short anime films and musicals to being accepted into prestigious performing arts academies to conquering the Karaoke scene. My passion for multiple languages and love of music is the desire driving me to share the gifts for teaching young children to open the door to their own musical abilities an
d hidden artistic desires. I am currently writing a musical which will be debuting in 2020. I'm currently the vocal coach/Trainer and choir director at Iglesia Elim Central.

I will make sure my students have fun and help them get in the right track to their musical goals.

Also, I constantly upload videos on Singing, The Spanish Language, and Japanese! So keep Checking in! It ranges on tips and answering the most common questions on those particular subjects!

Also There are discounted rates for worship teams and church choirs. For more information please contact me through the "Ask a Question feature"

*** Lesson Details ***
I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them.
then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!

I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals.
With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

*** Studio Equipment ***
iMac, condensing mic...performing mic, keyboard, mixer...living room of apartment.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do have a portable keyboard. Though I do expect the student to have their own recording device and karaoke tracks. At Home I do have a studio, and if the students has an iPod or an Mp3 player I can attach it to a device where all of us can hear the tracks. I do have a recording studio as well.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Musical Theatre, and Pop rock genres. When I teach my students I always have them learn a song of another language whether it's Spanish or Japanese. It helps with diction when they learn a song outside the English Language. Also, It helps them to learn another Language at the same time. Also, I give them a little anatomy class when they are learning how to sing. I give them a model of the Vocal Cords and different areas of the Larynx and which part works for the chest voice and the head voice.

I'm a Nurse Practitioner and I happened to find about Rosita through a friend. I told her about why I wanted to learn Spanish and apparently she was developing a course for that. What struck me the most is that she listens to her student's needs. She already had an understanding how different nurses work and how crazy it could be. She really narrowed down for those that do not want to be fluent but at be able to communicate with our patients and I appreciated that. I wasn't looking to take High School Spanish again and she didn't. Although we did have to go over some grammar but she explained how it can be used in my line of work. For those that are looking to be conversational in Spanish in her course Beginning Spanish for Medical Professionals I really recommend it my colleagues out there!

About Detrece
DeTrece "Dee" Lavender is a native of Miami, Florida. When her family moved to Sarasota, she was afforded the opportunity to study music and the performing arts as a student of the Westcoast School/Henry L. Porter School of Music. It was then that Dee began to understand the power of the creative arts as an effective form of emotional expression and release. By middle school, DeTrece began fine tuning her natural talents by studying classical voice which earned her several starring roles in the Sarasota Youth Opera, The Aslo Theater and the Players Theater. She is also a proud former member of the Westcoast Black Theater Troop in Sarasota, FL. Under the caring leadership of these opportunities, she was able to combine musical and life experiences in order to offer a more well rounded educational and musical experience for her students.

She was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where she received a dual Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy and Vocal Performance (Class of 2003). It was through her service as a music therapist, Millieu (residential) counselor and music teacher in the Boston City Public Schools/Greater Boston Metropolitan Area, that she began to feel the call toward a greater understanding of the gravity and role of the socio-emotional needs of students (and their families/villages) in urban settings. This call brought her to Baltimore, MD where she enrolled in the Pastoral Counseling Masters of Science program at Loyola University. In addition to her studies, she currently teaches Elementary and Middle School choir/ Musicianship teacher in the Baltimore City Public Schools through the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids Program. She also serves as Minister Of Music and Arts at two local churches.

Acting โ€“ I have taught all kinds of acting, including Audition Skills, Shakespeare, Stage, Film & TV, Dramatic, Comedic, whatever. I also have quite a bit of experience performing in all those arenas. I have a relationship with one of the best management agencies in the area, so my students get fast-tracked with her.

Voice โ€“ Anyone can sing. If you want to and have always thought you couldn't, you will be delighted when I prove you wrong. Training for the voice is pretty much the same, whatever style you are interested in. Then I'll coach you in your chosen style and we'll pick songs you like.

Singing beautifully is not enough. I can't tell you how many times I heard in grad school "beautiful voices are a dime a dozen." I will teach you how to OWN the song. That's what keeps people coming back.

Speaking โ€“ Every public spe
aker I know has lost their voice at some point, but not from talking too much. It's because they don't know how to use their voice properly. Learn that, and you need never lose your voice to over-use. That's easy to teach.

Writing โ€“ I have been a professional writer and editor for over eight years, with many books, articles, posts, newsletters, etc. to my name. I use โ€“ and teach โ€“ practical grammar, not just correct grammar. I can also help you make your words more powerful.

I feel that soon enough I'll be able to audition for roles in film and television. If you live in the Baltimore area and are interested in voice acting or any acting in general. Contact her and go, you won't be disappointed.

I did not know what to expect when I signed up to take classes with Susan. I decided to take classes with her for two reasons: Her studio is not far from me and 2, the good reviews left by her clients. All I wanted was to learn the fundamentals and techniques about acting. Susan was excellent and very patient. She offered water in each lesson, which is also very kind. Her interpersonal connection brings a sense of comfort. Her studio is very neat and welcoming. I do not have regrets in my selections and I know you won't be disappointed too.

He definitely knows what he's doing, wants to share that with his students, and took the time to learn about my goals and history with performing. Went above and beyond by sending recordings of exercises to work on at home. So excited to keep working with him.

Hi Everyone!

I'm an IMTA Director. What does that mean? If you study with me and have a desire to compete in one of the upcoming IMTA (International Models and Talent Competitions) let's discuss how to get you there! IMTA promotional Video attached to my videos for your review.

I have a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, a BA in Drama from UC Santa Barbara. I've also attended Cal Poly Pomona, UCLA and New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts back when it was called the New York School for Film and Television.

I also create original theatre from improvisation with kids and teens. Everything I do I approach with that same fun spirit in mind.

Follow your passion and the rest will come. ๐ŸŽญ As an actor over the last 25 years I have come to realize that none of us is ever actually
in competition with one another. We are only in competition with our own best selves. We are each unique and have unique talents to offer the world that begin with your own unique core. No one else is โ€œyou.โ€ So dare to follow your creative dreams. Let us continue to build one another up.

A little shout out to creative parents! I have a toddler and with her in mind I have opened my own acting studio, Tehachapi Academy of Dramatic Arts. It's my way of sharing my many years of experience with other artists and students while staying close to home with my little one.

Tehachapi Academy of Dramatic Arts (TADA Acting Studio) MISSION:
Weโ€™ve seen firsthand how dramatic and creative play can increase confidence, team building skills, vocabulary, and much more at every age from kids to adults. Even those not seeking a professional acting career flourish in whichever path they choose partially due to their creative beginnings.
Our mission is to be part of that creative growth in any way we can.

Are you preparing for (gulp) college auditions? Getting ready for a big presentation at work? Curious about acting and want to give a shot? Whatever your performance goals might be, I can't wait to take your work to the next level!

I am a lifelong actor and passionate teacher, who loves to help students find joy, freedom, and dynamism in performance.

I have an MFA from the Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University/ The Shakespeare Theatre of DC (the only MFA in the world specifically devoted to acting Shakespeare) and a BFA from NYU-Tisch (with a focus on musical theatre at CAP 21). I have been a member of Actors' Equity since age 19, and have played leading roles off-Broadway (The Mint Theater, The Actorsโ€™ Studio) and regionally (Bucks County Playhouse, Fireside Theatre, East Lynne Theatre, etc), with notabl
e reviews in Variety, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and many others.

In addition to performing, I am a Standardized Patient at UMD and John's Hopkin's University, where I assist doctors and nurses in patient communication. As a teaching artist, I have worked with students age 5-88 on finding and sharing their unique voice.

As your coach, we will patiently and persistently discover the methods that enable your absolute best work. I am a certified Yoga teacher, and I love to draw on principles of mindfulness in performance preparation. From Linklater voice work, to Mask exercises, to breath awareness, we will develop a method that works for you. Best of all: we'll have a blast doing it.

My daughter took 10 acting sessions with Jennie - the first one was in person and the rest were over skype which worked perfectly! Jennie started each session with warm-up activities to 1) break the ice and 2) to learn how to deal with nervousness (breathing/relaxing techniques). Each session consisted of singing and practicing a monologue. Jennie suggested a book on monologues and my daughter chose one she liked. Each session they worked on expressing the emotion that was being expressed in the dialog. They broke down the feelings being portrayed and practiced different ways to express the emotions. Jennie was SO supportive of my daughter. Her lessons are going to be VERY helpful to my daughter when she goes to try out for the spring musical next year. We are planning to sign up for more lessons prior to auditions as a refresher! I highly recommend her.

I have had several lessons with Jennie Bissell in my home. I often give lectures in academic settings, and I was hoping to improve the quality and fluency of my speech to a level equivalent to top public speakers. Working with Jennie, I made improvements beyond what I could have expected. We worked on a variety of breathing and relaxation techniques used by professional actors. By focusing on producing speech "on voice" the quality and ease of understanding of my speaking increased substantially with immediate benefits. I highly, highly recommend her services for anyone interested in improving their public speaking skills.
