Babson Park Performing Arts Lessons for Seniors

Experienced former professional ballet dancer, and specializing in the beginner/intermediate ballet classes. Everyone is welcome from kids to adults.
Lessons are customized to the needs/goals of the students.

I can teach beginners, starting from the basics to help you build a strong foundation of theory and technique.
For advanced levels we would work on your technique, posture, and artistic expression. We can work on some dances/variations if you are preparing for a competition or a performance.

With my Dance Choreography lessons, we will focus on building awareness of the body, understanding musicality, style/swag and control. Although we will work on choreo retention (picking up and remembering steps), the main focus of each lesson will be on movement quality: speed variation, attention to detail and execution of the texture(s) of each movement. Lastly, in my lessons, we will learn how to FEEL and CONNECT to the artist/music. I believe that if you feel good, you'll look good!

After twenty years of teaching all ages, from the shy to the outgoing, I can teach students how to discover themselves and their full potential. We'll do this through theatre games, improvisation, confidence building exercises, scene study, monologue study, audition techniques, characterization and so much more. I'll provide a positive and encouraging environment in which real techniques can be applied.

I understand that sometimes people have a hard time speaking in front of others, but really want to improve. Whether it be, because you aren't speaking clearly enough, aren't projecting enough or need to get over your jitters, let's see what we can do. We can work on monologues or look at what event you're preparing for. Even if it is a speech for school or for an event at work. Both Acting and Singing have helped me with these issues. Working in front of someone that knows what to listen for and can help you to tweak what you've been doing might be the best solution.

Hello there!

I am a working actor with over 20 years of professional experience. Prior to moving to LA, I worked in Chicago theaters for 7 years and served as an adjunct faculty member at Cal State Fullerton for another 7 years teaching beginning acting classes. I am a member of Actors' Equity; the union of professional stage actors and I hold an MFA in Acting from Cal State Fullerton. Recent stage credits include South Coast Repertory, New Swan Shakespeare Festival, Capital Stage Sacramento, Golden Thread Productions, and The Great River Shakespeare Festival.

I'm particularly adept at working with complicated and classical language, including Shakespeare. I'll help you make sense of the language in a way that is actionable and dynamic to watch. My approach is Stanislavski based, but I tend to incorporate other methods as well.

Improv is a great learning tool for team building, spontaneity, listening, being present, speaking to groups, communicating one on one, saying yes and so much more. It helps that each game played builds upon the next to reinforce the learning.

Improvisers fail forward. We embrace "failure." We have to fail in order to succeed. If we aren't failing, we aren't trying.
