About Juliet
I have been a teacher in private practice for 20 years. I have a wide range of experience with singers of all styles and age groups with a variety of goals and skills. I sang with a professional jazz octet for a number of years while maintaining my practice, have taught various master classes, musically directed various musicals, have sung background vocals and played piano on various recordings. I studied vocal and piano performance at Murray State University and studied privately through my adult singing and teaching career.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a big believer of direct application of core technique to repertoire/style. Generally, lessons are fun, comfortable and laughter is encouraged. I like singers to be working on a wide variety of music from the beginning. It's a great way to understand and explore your voice an
d how great technique is fundamental to successful development. I find this approach beneficial if you're a beginning student or if you sing professionally. Not to mention, singing songs is fun!!!! I encourage all students to give input on repertoire. Songs are chosen with goals in mind, including working specific parts of the range, preparing for an audition or performance, stamina, strength, and overall vocal development. In 3-6 months you will have a very good understanding of how your voice works and how to apply good technique to a variety of styles of music. My goals for piano students of all ages include a broad understanding of music theory and the ability to sit down and play music! I believe good sight reading skills are paramount for piano enjoyment and functional playing skills. We will sight read at each lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio with piano, mic, recoding equipment, and seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a full size keyboard for travel.

*** Specialties ***
*Teachers classified as a Student Favorite have taught a minimum of 25
lessons and have received the highest feedback rating from students.I'm comfortable with all styles of singing and have coached extensively in most styles, from classical to hip hop to rock. I work with singers with various goals. Some are professional singers, some study for a future career, and some study for personal enrichment. I am very good at teaching solid healthy technique/voice use, with direct application to repertoire, maintaining the singer's authenticity, style, and vocal health.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a very fun loving person and believe in creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable to be themselves. At the same time I am a stickler for details and do not allow laziness. I believe a balance of fun with excellence has allowed my students to excel far beyond their own expectations. Good results takes HARD WORK! Please do not come to lessons with the expectation to sing like Beyoncé or play piano at Carnegie Hall after 4 lessons. Mastering your voice and instrument takes equal parts of time, hard work, dedication and patience.

My teaching style is individually based.
For vocal clients, I asses their strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan to build up their weak areas while helping them find "their own voice". I focus on breathing, intonation and control which I believe are the foundation of great singing ability. I use a classical Italian based program along with pop, R&B, jazz, and rock. I have vocal coached in many languages including Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

For piano clients I focus on strength, dexterity and precision in fingering. I also help students learn to feel the music and bring their personality and touch to each piece they are performing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Tanisha currently teaches at her performing arts academy the White H Arts Academy. There are private instruction rooms and a lobby waiting area for parents and guests. Parents may also sit in the lesson room if desired. Private lesson rooms include a piano, speakers, and a music stand.

The White H Arts Academy also has two state of the art mirrored dance rooms with sound systems and wireless microphones for practicing stage performances or rehearsing for a big show.

*** Specialties ***
Vocals: beg to adv
Piano: beg to inter

Vocal genres are classical (opera), pop, R&B, gospel, rock, jazz, blues and musical theater. I studied voice at Berklee College of Music. Have also studied Seth Riggs SLS (Speech Level Singing) method independently, however, I am not certified. I also teach in languages other than English including Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

Piano instruction levels I teach are basic to intermediary focusing on classical, and general accompaniment abilities.

Michelle is great! She is very professional and patient, but a couple things that truly make her stand out.

One, she is always willing to record an accompaniment for the song of your choice so that you can easily work on your own. Sometimes she even does a couple versions. Better still, when I was really struggling she tailor made exercises for me so that I could improve.

Two, she explains things very well. For example, I struggled with visualizing how the physical parts of my voice interact with each other and what physically happens when I sing. Her explanation combined with the diagrams from her singing books allowed me to finally make the connection.

You can’t go wrong with Michelle!

About Kim
Hi, my name is Kim but over the past 9 years of training performers in my academy (The Corcoran Academy of Fine Arts) I've become known to my "kids" as Mama L. Having been on stage performing for 50 years has given me the upper hand in how to train the next generation of performers! I love what I do and, judging by the success of my students, I'd say I'm very good at it! Please check out my photo gallery of past and present students. My students consistently score major roles in their school productions and I make sure I'm there to cheer them on!

My vocal training covers both classic voice and musical theatre. My acting lessons combine Adler, Meisner and my own observational technique. I have a sure fire method of preparation for auditions that, if followed completely, has never failed me or my students.

Why should you come
to me? Because I'll take you right where you are and grow your skills on YOUR terms! Your lessons are different than other student's lessons because they're designed to suit YOU! You can't help but catch my excitement during your lesson because we have so much fun! I'm looking forward to seeing you soon!

Ms.Lesso (or Momma L as we fondly call her) is an amazing instructor! She has so much experience in the performing arts and has a way with teaching that makes technique more understandable. She just really brings out your inner performer. I was already a fair singer before I joined her academy, but after being with her for less than a year, I had improved so much! Now, after +3 years with her, I nearly have a 4 octave range and we are working to get me to the full 4. She is just a great instructor and she makes you feel like part of her family.

Even though my resume suggests that I am a nerd, I am also an athlete and a geek, perhaps bit of a gamer and most certainly a goofball. I can juggle 9 juggling balls, 6 clubs, and 7 rings, I love Madden and Halo. I play YuGiOh! and aspire to play professional Ultimate Frisbee in a year. I have read many of the most popular Young Adult novels and nearly every textbook assigned in my college courses. Sometimes, when I first meet people, they ask what I can't do, because it seems like I have a lot of talents. Well, I'm a cannot draw, or read quickly, or act. I am slow at learning languages and understanding cultures.
I can be messy and can't cook. What I am trying to say is that I understand the struggles of not being good at something. I also have spent a lot of time honing the skills that came naturally to me to cover up my weak
nesses. I also know that sometimes extra help is truly necessary to before things can click. And sometimes things will never click, and you'll need the extra help just to keep your head above the water. I have received a ton of help in my life, and I am now in a position where I can finally start helping others, so that's what I am here to do.
