I have taught and directed for 30 years in NY and DC. From lesson 1, students engage with a dynamic approach to acting through Meisner-based improv. During the 1st 12 weeks, we go from basic truthful acting to dynamic scene work, followed by 12 weeks of in-depth scene study, then extensive character training and in-depth film and audition technique. My students are successful in film, theater, commercials and TV in DC, NY and LA.

About Robert

I have taught acting for over 30 years based in the Meisner Technique, and I write and direct my own plays and films. I have years of experience as an actor, jazz saxophone player, singer and poet, as well as a philosophy degree, which I bring to my understanding of acting. I use this rich backgro

Robert is super easy to talk to and he has great ideas. He leads with passion, curiosity and understanding and opened new worlds to me. Although I was a terrible student, Robert made me realize how much potential I have and now I'm exploring many new things on my own. I'm very tankful!

Ellen was wonderful to work with! She really made the attendees for our virtual conference comfortable enough to be on camera. Our attendees had a blast and the class was a wonderful way to unwind and have fun after a long day of zoom meetings. I would highly recommend working with Ellen.
Weare Z.
When I purchased a series of lessons for my partner and me, I really didn't know what to expect, beyond the forced focus on steps and postures drilled into me as a boy in cotillion. What we experienced was an accomplished professional, who helped us understand what dancing and moving together really means. Ellen is a giving, forgiving, funny, and intuitive teacher. We opened each lesson with exercises to simply bring ourselves into our bodies. Ellen taught us about beat and provided us choreography to practice, but more she helped us to realize that dancing together and responding to each other's movements and energy allows us to enjoy and even look good on the dance floor. Ellen gave us an awareness as much as a structure. We looked forward to every lesson and will return to her as we evolve. She is a master of what she does and knows and is generous and joyous in sharing.

My 6yr old just took his first lesson and is hooked. Gigi is very sweet and stirred up an excitement in him. My son definitely liked the "idea" of learning the piano but is now confidant and actually writing his first song! Who knew, 5 notes and you can become a composer! BRAVO GIGI:)

As my student, you can expect a highly personalized experience. Whatever your experience, skill, or comfort level with performing is, I will work with you to make you a more present, spontaneous, and relaxed performer. Maybe you're just starting out as an actor and what some extra coaching. Maybe you've never acted before but want to give it a try. Or maybe you aren't interested in being on stage but want some advice on becoming an effective public speaker. I'm available for monologue advice, audition preparation and coaching, scene work, as well as general acting lessons or help with presentation and public speaking skills.

I believe in using what's unique about you as a person in your performance, so we'll spend time working together on how to bring out the "you" in your acting!

I believe in guiding rather than dictating, so I will always act as the guide to your discoveries rather than dictating what your performance "should" be. My background is primarily in Meisner acting work,
