I’m the only Deaf person in my family. I love photography, drawing sketch, and I love teaching American Sign Language (ASL).

I have experience teaching at American Sign Language (ASL) Camp at Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf. I taught students from a range of grades, typically students from Elementary to Junior High. I constantly look for ways to give back to the Deaf community, such as mentoring and giving the advice to serve them best.

I use various tools such as flashcards that contain words, pictures, and vocabulary in order to build language skills. I will use educational videos that explain topics such as Deaf Culture. I will also use storytelling videos ana will adapt to a range of ages. I will provide American Sign Language (ASL) levels to match each age group.

I will have books for your first trial lesson and come and see for yourself! If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me.

I look forward to meeting you!

Currently, I am teaching Deaf Culture as an online course at San Diego Mesa College.
I have been using ASL since I was 4 years old and I have attended California School for the Deaf, Berkeley (Fremont) and Riverside. I have received valuable experience from Deaf peers of Deaf parents, Deaf adults and Deaf leaders. In this sense, I am a native user of ASL and ASL Fingerspelled Signs.
Graduated from Gallaudet College (University) in Washington, D.C. with a B.S. in Business Administration. I received two Masters degrees from California State University, Northridge, one in Deaf Education and the other in Educational Administration. Wow, can’t say enough good things about Bill! My boyfriend and I decided recently that ASL was something we would really like to pursue learning together, so I signed us both up for lessons with Bill and we are so grateful for all of his patience, guidance, careful explanation, and enthusiasm. Learning so far has been a breeze and so much fun! We really look forward to our lessons, and they seem to fly by each time. We would highly recommend Bill to anyone eager to learn and understand more about sign language. What an incredible experience!

What is Black ASL?

Most people living in the United States are likely familiar with American Sign Language (ASL); even if they don’t know any signs, they know it exists. Even less people realize that ASL is not universal, but unique to the US and parts of Canada. Therefore, it’s probable that very few people living in the US realize that ASL has variations. Just as with spoken languages, which have various dialects and accents, there are also variations within ASL, and age, race, location, socio-economic c …
