Heather is graduate from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. An active member of GMU Opera, Heather participated in the program's performances of 'A Christmas Carol,' 'Amahl and the Night Visitors,' 'La Boheme,' and 'Suor Angelica;' as well as Carolina in the studio scenes of Cimarosa's 'Il matrimonio segreto.'

Heather made her solo debut at the Kennedy Center in April 2011 singing for the Karen Reedy Dance Company along with singing for the GMU Dance Company.

Heather has been studying voice for over 10 years emphasizing on pop and musical theatre style
s prior to her opera training. Having learned the natural way of singing, Heather incorporates vocal health into her lessons with the theory of "self-awareness" while singing. Each student will sing only what is comfortable for THEIR voice and will receive, as well as give, feedback on their singing.

About Briana
Briana has enjoyed teaching since she was a teaching assistant at Detroit Windsor Dance Academy, her high school dance studio. Since then she has taught students within Washington DC Public Schools, the University of Michigan Recreation Center, the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, Morton Street Dance Center, District Dance Arts, as well as many other studios and non-profit organizations. Teaching allows her to express herself, pass on her knowledge and experiences and inspire students to develop their technique, creativity, individuality and showmanship.

There is never a dull moment in Briana’
s classes! Her specific classes and lesson plans are catered to specific age groups from Pre-K to adults. They consist of engaging movement activities, warm-up, and complex movement combinations. She is an energetic and patient teacher who seriously takes into account the needs and skill level of the student in preparing her lesson plans and material.

Briana’s use of dance vocabulary and physical demonstrations allow her to teach the material accurately and effectively. Her positive attitude and constant words of encouragement keep students motivated and engaged in the lesson. Students will increase their knowledge and physical vocabulary of the movement style and leave each lesson a better dancer, performer and person.

She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance and Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan in May of 2013 and has had a wide range of professional experience. She has worked with and performed works by modern dance choreographers such as Lindsey Merchant, Melissa Beck, Germaul Barnes, Jessica Fogel, Christopher Huggins, Shen Wei and Dianne McIntyre. She was artistic director of a chapter of the international hip-hop dance company Dance2XS International.

Briana was a full-time company member with StepAfrika!, a professional stepping company in Washington, DC from 2013-2015 and currently, she is working with CityDance resident artist S.J. Ewing & Dancers. Briana has had the privilege of performing at DC's City Rhythms Festival, Catholic Universities Hartke Theater, the Hill Center, the VelocityDC Festival, the Guantanomo Bay Naval Base as well as others. Recently she was invited to perform a modern dance solo in Dance Place’s 2014 New Releases Choreographers Showcase and Joy of Motions 2014 Dance Project Concert. Most recently, she served as the assistant choreographer on the American Theater’s Company’s production of The Project(s) in Chicago, IL, rated 4 stars by the Chicago Tribune. Most recently, she collaborated with Hard Soles Dance Company on a new piece titled “Re:set”, combining contemporary dance and body percussion, for the 2016 March on Washington Film Festival in honor of the 70th anniversary of the integration of the NFL and was chosen as Dance Place's 2016 New Releases Commission Recipient in support her new work to be premiered the summer of 2017.

Briana encourages students to bring writing materials to each lesson to take notes for any learned vocabulary and each lesson will follow with a recorded video of the movement for the students to refer to until the next lesson.

My 12 y.o. daughter has been taking private lessons with Briana. My daughter has no prior experience but would like to join a group class some day and Briana has been great coming up with an appropriate lesson plan and providing a foundation to start with so she will be comfortable joining a group class as well. Briana is very enthusiastic and my daughter has really enjoyed the classes. I can tell she has learned a lot & will benefit a great deal from these lessons. We definitely plan to continue the lessons and I highly recommend Briana to anyone seeking dance lessons.

I started taking private lessons after a long hiatus from ballet. Briana is an excellent teacher, patient, and knowledgeable. I've progressed faster than I would have if I had only taken group classes. Briana's teaching style is fun and inspiring. She takes the time to discover where you are in your dance training and tailors the lessons to your goals while maintaining authority as a professional. I recommend Briana for any adult dancers who want to improve their technique and want focused, individual training.

Susanna is an American soprano and President/CEO of M Institute for the Arts. Her recent engagements have included Puccini's Suor Angelica (Miami Lyric Opera, Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, Miami); Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea (New York Lyric Opera, Symphony Space, NYC), Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (New York Lyric Opera, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, NYC), Mozart's Don Giovanni (New York Lyric Opera, Lincoln Center, NYC); and Sousa's The Charlatan (Victorian Lyric Opera, F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater, Maryland). Upcoming roles include Juliette (Romeo et Juliette, Lincoln Cen
ter) and Constance in Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites (La Musica Lirica, Il Teatro di Novafeltria, Italy).

Teaching all levels of singing, Susanna's specialty is classical and operatic voice and holds studios in DC, NoVa, and NYC. Holding a BA of Music, she has studied under renowned Romanian soprano, Virginia Zeani, Met Opera baritone Mark Oswald, and internationally acclaimed bel canto pedagogue Joan Patenaude-Yarnell. She is also a disciple of Bulgarian piano virtuoso Tzvetan Konstantinov. Susanna serves on the board of the The International Master Institute of Music "Leopold Godowsky", Inc.

Susanna instructs on proper intercostal support and the alignment of the vowels is emphasized to create long, seamless lines. Support is accompanied by a mixing of the registers to promote even vocal resonance up and down the scale. A wide range of literature may be explored, including opera, lieder, oratorio, and classical musical theatre in all voice types.

Susanna now serves as President/CEO of her own private company here in Washington, DC and as a board member of the The International Master Institute of Music "Leopold Godowsky" in McLean, VA. She currently resides in Dupont Circle.

After just one lesson with Susanna I knew I had found a phenomenal teacher. She really studied directly with the best names in opera, specifically in the bel canto style. And she's able to explain it all really well. After a few months of lessons, my signing now feels so easy. It has a line to it, is controlled, clear, more powerful, more flexible, and all of my previous vocal problems have disappeared. I don't know what I did without her. SUSANNA IS THE BEST!!!

I have taught acting for over 30 years based in the Meisner Technique, and I write and direct my own plays and films. I have years of experience as an actor, jazz saxophone player, singer and poet, as well as a philosophy degree, which I bring to my understanding of acting. I have cast my advanced students in my original projects in the DC area, and most recently directed my original play, "The Big A: Scenes from a Vanishing Landscape" for the 2014 DC Fringe Festival. I have directed two films: "Adams Morgan: The Movie," which premiered at the Avalon Theater in 2010 and was selected and shown as part of the East of the River Festival in DC; and a short film from my original screenplay titled "Crazy" which is currently in the editing phase. My student Mack Leamon is currently appearing in the Arena Stage production of "Raisin in the Sun" and I am very proud of his accomplishment!
