I've been teaching ASL for 21 years and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of ASL and Deaf culture! I am passionate about teaching, Deaf ministry, and ASL!
Within the first few lessons, you'll start signing simple sentences and as time goes on, you'll be able to converse with people who are Deaf! You will also be learning about the culture of Deaf people at the same time.

PRACTICE PARTNER/SIGN COACH?
Nervous about meeting people who are deaf? Want to learn some tips to get over those first moments of nervousness? Do you just need someone to practice with? I would love to help you!

Some of my students book private lessons with me just to have someone to chat with and practice. The more you practice, the more confidence you will have. Sign up for weekly 30 minute lessons and keep your skills in check!

About Tony
Thank you so much for checking out my profile! My name is Tony and I've been teaching formal and private lessons since 1996 and have loved helping my students learn American Sign Language while develo
ping confidence in their skills. I went to Harding University and was trained and tutored by a Master ASL Instructor (CODA) as well as the Deaf community.

My former students have gone on to become Interpreters for the Deaf, Deaf Education Teachers, ASL Teachers, and leaders in Deaf ministry. In fact, I now teach with one of my former ASL students!

I'm a patient and fun person and my teaching style is highly interactive. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Please keep in mind that it is very important to practice in between sessions and complete all the suggested activities to help you accomplish your goals faster. ASL is a VISUAL language and does not follow English grammar rules. ASL has its own grammar and syntax. In fact 50% of the language is comprised of nonmanual behaviors.

My favorite thing about teaching is getting to know my students. Every once in a while I will have a student that wants to be mentored beyond ASL skills and wants further mentoring in learning how to be the best they can be.

I enjoy teaching the Bible class for the Deaf at church as well as being involved in the Deaf community in this area. The Deaf community is a wonderful, vibrant, and very close knit group of people.

Thanks again for reading my bio. I hope to meet you soon!

I can't express just how awesome Tony is as an ASL instructor. He is patient, very knowledgable and fun to learn with. He has a strict "no voice" policy, but if you work hard for him, you will benefit greatly. Highly recommended instructor.

The best teacher on this planet earth. I feel so privileged to have been taught by Professor Kathleen, she is amazing. The plus was the introduction to ASL.

P.S: it takes a big heart to help shape little minds.
