I've worked with stroke victims to retain their ability to communicate; actors to better their ability to speak clearly and many singers. I can also assist with voice over work and reading ability.

About Marsha

In this crazy time, remote teaching is what we do! I’ve found it works quite well, and am enjoying seeing students own space as well. Happy distancing learning! Hello! I know you want to know about me, but this is really about YOU! I am a music coach. That means that my role is to find out

Marsha is a wonderful music teacher! She has an organized lesson plan, she's always willing to set aside the lesson plan if I want to do something different that day, she gives very gentle feedback, and I always have so much fun with her during lessons. I highly recommend!

I have been taking lessons with Marsha for several months. Marsha has been helping me immensely to become a better singer. I am a novice vocalist and Marsha has worked with me patiently. I feel as if I have been progressing nicely with my vocal training.

I worked with Marsha for about 10 weeks. Singing was something on my "bucket list" and I wanted to find out why I didn't know how to do it. I learned a ton from Marsha, and I also learned that I wasn't a hopeless case!!

I help students sing on pitch, blend their voices, read music, pronounce English and foreign languages, and sing fast running passages easily and clearly.

I have helped my students prepare for high school choir auditions and continue to help them learn their music, improve their singing skills, and audition and prepare for solo appearances with their choirs and in school productions.

I have been a professional choir section leader and soloist in landmark churches for over 30 years. I have also sung in amateur choirs from 16 members up to 150. Recently I have sung with the University Choir in Sacramento and currently sing with the prestigious Capella Antiqua. I soloed in professional performances of Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation, Mendelsohn's Elijah, Bach's St.Matthew Passion, Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate, Bach's Jauchzet Gott, Brittain's Ceremony of Carols.Saint Saens's Christmas Oratorio

I received about 10 lessons from JoAnn and feel very good with the results. I started playing guitar and singing in a small band and knew that I needed help. Joann educated me with many warm up lessons, a good start on reading music, and numerous exercises towards reaching pitch that will also save my vocal chords from harm. It's up to me to practice and use the available tools that JoAnn has introduced me to while I take a break from lessons while traveling. JoAnn is a professional singing teacher.

She is great! My daughter really enjoys her lessons and we appreciate how thorough JoAnn is.
Angelica
JoAnn is a very patient and kind teacher. In the last few lessons I've had, she has taught me more than Ive learned with my previous teacher of 8 years. She is very understanding and teaches her students everything we need to know to be a good vocalist. I would highly recommend her.

I am very pleased with the voice lessons Bill has given me.
Thank you!
Jane
Taking lessons with Bill has improved my speaking voice tremendously. I have been taking six sessions in a row now, 1 lesson each week (30 or 45 min sometimes) and the lessons taught me control over my voice, finding the right pitch naturally (so that I have even no effort speaking in a busy loud restaurant) and just really starting to love my voice and what kind of voice I really have without these habitual restrictions I had. I was nervous sometimes as part of the exercises were to make sounds you usually don't do, but he teaches in such a loving professional way, just show a bit of your hidden "actor talent" :) and I believe you will soon see the progress. Thank you so much, Bill!

My basic approach to classical work focuses primarily on the connection of the breath with the feeling on the word.

This is the foundation on which you can then build. From the ‘words’ to the ‘thoughts’ to entire ‘passages’ of text, as you work and explore, the richness of the playwright’s words comes to life. Your own unique emotional life is allowed to come through the text and you are able to fully embody the role.

About Nicholas

I have been an actor for more the 40 years having worked Off-Broadway and Regionally. I've taught acting for 25 years privately as well as at Brooklyn College, St Frances College, Marymount Manhattan College, and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. "Nicholas is patie

Very helpful instructor. Worked with me on moot court preperation for law school. Focusing on highlighting the operative words in phrases and lists. Would reccomend to anyone who really wants to better themselves as a public speaker and orator!

Nicholas was an absolutely amazing instructor. He was extremely patient and understanding with my schedule. He helped me go over a few monolgues for several weeks, break them down, and really dissect them to best fit my technique. Working with him really changed my approach, as well as motivation with acting in general, highly reccomend him as a private instructor!

I met with Nicholas before an audition. He is a wonderful teacher. He helped me already a great deal during that short hour, on how to approach the material, break it down in a way that will help my performance reach its full potential. I was able to deliver a truthful performance. I am looking forward to more sessions. Many thanks.

"I have had the unique experience of working with Anthony Michael Martinez as both a teacher/coach and fellow teacher. He has coached me in private sessions on multiple Shakespeare monologues and contemporary pieces. He had an incredible ability to explain various acting adjustments and helps to bring the best out of the performances and performers. I always feel confident after working with Anthony, and he makes each session fun and full of energy. Similarly, as a fellow teacher, Anthony can adapt to any situation, student or class size. He is energetic, articulate, and has an incredible sense of humor with students and teachers. He is an ideal fellow teacher."

Madeline created an environment where my son felt very comfortable exploring different music, he always came out of class with a smile on his face. Madeline was instrumental in motivating my child to sing in front of an audience for the first time. This is an experience I don't think we will ever forget.
