About Jessie
Thank you for your interest in lessons! I hope to help you achieve your goals and improve your skills, whether you're looking for music lessons, help in math, or need someone to proofread your essay before you turn it in. Every student is a unique person who deserves a lesson customized to their individual needs. Each of my students prospers in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career, and the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of knowledge that will always enrich their lives.

I have been tutoring and teaching private lessons for over five years, and currently have over 40 active students. I received my bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on vocal performance at the Unive
rsity of Redlands in 2011, and my Associate of Arts degree in 2008 from College of the Desert. I teach online, locally, and at my studio, and cover a variety of subjects such as voice, music, theater, piano, math, english, music theory, just to name a few.

For academic tutoring (i.e. math, theory, vocabulary) I work on helping the student understand their homework and help prepare them for tests. I can also provide worksheets if necessary and am prepared to demonstrate problem areas in different ways if needed, because everyone learns differently. For voice, piano, music, and acting lessons I teach the student based on what their current level is. If you have no experience, that's okay! My lessons are uniquely designed to fit your needs no matter what level you may be.

As a music major I developed a deeper understanding of music theory, piano, voice, and theater. I received my A.A. in Music at College of the Desert and my Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Redlands- which I attended on a music scholarship. I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women, Seussical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer in churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to stay active in the performance industry, because performing is a part of who I am and I could never live without it!

With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life they will achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having fun doing it!

*Note: My home office has a lot of stairs and two cats. If you are disabled or have a feline allergy, please consider in-home lessons or lessons online.

Jessie Massoudi is a GREAT singing teacher for my granddaughter, Vera. Vera, now age 10, has been taking lessons with Jessie for about a year now. Jessie has a way of working with her that is very sensitive and effective. Vera's confidence and voice have both improved a lot because of Jessie. I strongly recommend her as a teacher for children of this age, and people of any age too.

Jessie is a very competent multi-talented voice instructor. I've learned more from her in a few months than I have from others in several years. She is great with all age groups, and would highly recommend her for everything from opera to pop.

*** Lesson Details ***
What happens in a Lesson? In order to train your physical voice, it is necessary to do vocal exercises, in the same way that one needs to train at a gym. There is no "magic key" to unlock one's voice; it is a matter of daily practice and muscle strengthening/stretching. So, the first part of the lesson will be focused on vocal exercises specifically tailored to YOUR VOICE and its needs. The second half of the lesson is the fun part- SINGING! We will work on any songs and styles that YOU choose. Whether you want to sing Rock, Country, Pop, Musical Theater, or Classical, there is a healthy and communicative way to sing!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a keyboard. The student should provide a recording device, iPhone, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Classical and Broadway style singing, but have extensive experience in Contemporary Commercial Music as well. I teach a healthy approach to all styles, and modify technical approaches towards the genre that the student is most interested in.

About Kiki
Raised just 30 minutes away from America's Entertainment Capital, Hollywood, California I have always had a draw to the performance spotlight. I started singing at the young age of 5 and since then, have received training from some of the world's finest instructors, including Tony Award Winner Lisa Seegmiller. I studied music vocal performance at Southern Utah University on a full scholarship with emphasis in opera and musical theater.

Some of my vocal accomplishments include first place winner in musical theater/classical divisions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition in 2005 and 2009 Las Vegas chapter. I made my first television singing debut in 2003 when I was invited to sing the National Anthem at the Paradise Bowl. I have also sung with both the Orchestra of Southern Utah and Southwest Symphony as a sopr
ano soloist in their performances of Handel's Messiah.

My love for the performing arts has given me the drive to teach what I love to others. I opened my very first studio over 12 years ago in Southern Utah while attending Dixie State University. I have since opened studios in Las Vegas, Kansas City area, and finally in 2014 Austin, Texas. In 2011 I was hired as the resident music director for Kids in the Round theater company until May 2013. My students have been cast in lead roles at many regional theater companies across the country as well as projects for TV and film. My young students are regularly cast in lead roles in their middle school and high school productions and selected to be apart of chamber choirs and selective performance groups.

Come and join my studio! I'd love to teach you!

About Anabelle
When did you begin playing [instrument], and why?:

I've been singing since I was about 8. I began to play piano when I was a teenager, because many of my classmates were very skilled at the piano, and I became inspired to be like them.

What are your personal goals as a musician?:

I love opera, and my goal is to compose my own. I plan on working closely with the librettist, since I'm a poet as well.

Do you have a memory of a time when a musical concept or technique really clicked? Something you'll remember forever?:

I never knew what perfect pitch was until I was much older. I also didn't realize I had perfect pitch until a professor at an audition made me aware of my ability. Since then, it's become a wonderful tool.

What is your favorite piece of advice from one of your past (or current) teachers?:

Being compassion
ate with a student will allow them to fearlessly open up to their potentials.

What was your most challenging moment learning an instrument?:

In the winter months, my body feels tight and cold, and sometimes this causes tension during playing or singing. That's why to me it's important to work in a warm environment, do proper daily stretching, and have a healthy lifestyle (good diet, exercise, proper sleep).

What is your biggest musical achievement?:

Composing a fugue.

Favorite thing about teaching?:

I love sharing my passion for music with other human beings.

What is a piece of advice you would like to share with anyone learning music?:

If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Music is meant to be fun, enjoy it!

Personal music projects: i.e. bands, groups, shows, recording, etc. (if any):

In 2015, I composed the music for my sister's walk down the aisle (wedding piece). Additional compositions underway, member of American Composer's Forum, member of Contemplum (composition club at Temple), participant in the Oticons Film Score Contest.

About Anabelle...

Anabelle has been involved with sounds and music from an early age. Her greatest forte is her hearing. When she was young, people thought she might become a voice actor, because her skill at replicating voices was quite apparent. Still, she loved to sing and had been regularly involved in choirs. She dabbled in violin in the fifth grade, but she didn't feel a "click." Without despairing, she tried her luck with piano and felt instantly in sync. She knew this was the right instrument for her. During her piano studies, she continued to work on her voice. In addition, she studied the workings of a sound board, and was head sound chief at her high school. At the college level, she began to pursue composition, while still continuing with piano and vocal studies. She holds an A.A. with a music focus (piano performance), a B.M. in music theory, and a M.M in music education from Boston University. She has been teaching music since 2006 and has worked with a wide range of ages and various group sizes. Her joy is working with people in a field that she is passionate about. Her interests include music (jazz, classical, opera, new age), ballet, composition, yoga, meditation, going to the gym, hiking and camping, scuba-diving, sailing,Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, cooking and baking, film-editing, sound engineering, poetry, reading good books, building websites, and watching documentaries.

I'm a film composer by trade, but I love teaching as well. I love sharing my passion for music with others. I have a BM from Appalachian State University in piano performance and music theory/composition. I also have an MFA in music composition for the screen from Columbia College Chicago. I studied abroad in Ireland for a summer and learned traditional Irish music. I've been playing piano and composing since I was a young child, and picked up folk instruments along the way. Julia was my college audition coach to get into acting school, and I am confident that she is the reason I got into the schools I did. I met with her on Skype once a week for about a year/year and half. She coached me on all of my monologues and even gave me acting coaching on songs. She helped me find almost all of my monologues, and was particularly helpful in coaching me on scansion and Shakespeare! Not only did she do all of this, but going through the college audition process herself and being trained at Juilliard, she prepared me for what to expect before I went in to my first audition. She is an absolutely wonderful teacher and would highly recommend her to anyone going through this experience. I am now a Sophomore Acting Major at Syracuse University which was ranked the number 8 acting school in the world this year. I also got into drama schools in Europe. Thank you Julia!! <3

Julia coached me on my audition for a one-day guest star role on The Good Wife, and I booked the job! She is fantastic--very practical and knowledgable, but also very affirming and enthusiastic. She helped me have the confidence to go into the audition room and do my best without the usual self-sabotage. I highly recommend Julia as a coach!
