Choirs are a wonderful place to grow as a singer, musician, and friend. As a choir director and coach, I enjoy finding the best repertoire and combinations of voices to enhance every choir's sound and experience in the group. I have taught children's choirs in San Diego and Los Angeles as well as been involved in co-ed and all-women's choirs over the years. As a choir director, I hope to spread the importance of community in choirs while having a fun time and expanding diversity of repertoire.

About Emilia

I have been teaching private voice and oboe lessons since 2012. From pop to classical, I believe that as long as you maintain a healthy foundation, you can sing and play any style of music you want! Throughout my career, I have been featured as a vocalist and oboist on Billboard-charting and award-

I am an acting coach who will work with you to prepare for upcoming auditions. I have been in the industry for 13 years and have experience on both sides of the camera as an actor and director. I am very aware of the industry and understand what casting directors look for in an actor. I will help you book! These lessons will be one on one where we break down the scene, discuss character and motivation, etc to prepare you for the audition. I am also available for coaching sessions over the phone, though I recommend in person if possible. The cost of the lessons include space rental, so there can be a discounted rate for phone coaching sessions.

Sarah has the unique ability to get you down to the meat of a scene very quickly, working to build through all context clues into a fully rounded and realized character. Her knowledge of script analysis and character breakdown is second to none, and she has helped me tackle any scene with surprising ease. Sarah is wonderfully supportive and knows how to guide an actor into making the most authentic acting choices, without ever feeling like she is critiquing, like some coaches can be. Her experience in production is invaluable, as you gain much clearer insight into what casting is looking for when going in for an audition, and what is most important in the preparation of your performance. We've also been able to identify and work on blocks in my work, helping me to build upon my work continuously. I'm so grateful to work with Sarah on my auditions and immensely happy to have her coaching and guidance through my career.

I'm a professional screenwriter. I've written on both cable and network dramas. And I've sold a feature. I graduated from Film School / Dramatic Writing nine years ago. I'm in the Writers Guild, and have the trifecta of representation. And I've also self-published two collections of one-act plays available on all e-reader platforms.

I'm happy to do consultations on projects you are looking to rewrite or submit to contests. Or if you are just starting out on something new and wants to talk through all the story beats and track it together before you begin a draft.

I can also recommend the best books to read on both the craft and the industry, as well as screenplays and pilots to read (and which ones to avoid).

Learn how to navigate not only the business and landing that first job, but also how to develop a project with a production company, and participate/conduct yourself properly in a TV writer's room.

Adam is a really great listener and excellent source of thought provoking, well timed input that has really helped me develop and improve my story organically without changing its intention with strong suggestions as most people's feedback often attempts to do. If you're looking for a hand in finding your own voice and to strengthen your writing skills or excellent constructive feedback for your story then look no further.

Adam Gaines is a godsend. I was really lucky to have his guidance over the years which helped my craft and dedication to the art of writing greatly. He is a proven writer with legitimate credits but also, he actually cares. He is always ready to help and takes your material seriously which is most important when you want honest feedback and guidance. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of films, screenwriting, and the industry that is both impressive and beneficial. He is a wonderful friend and mentor who will always have a great recommendation or suggestion ready for your work and/or career. Adam is an extremely open individual with an immense passion for film and the craft of screenwriting which becomes infectious. That trait is crucial since it keeps you driven to keep learning and grow. He is also an excellent conversationalist with his own voice which is truly refreshing. Highly recommend.

I had such an amazing experience training with Detrece! She always has such sweet positive energy. I was so happy that with me being more of an advanced singer she was able to teach me about my voice and tips that I never knew! I only had 5 lessons and still had a vocal breakthrough where she helped me realize my range is wider than I thought. She gave me more confidence and is always seeking to share opportunities with me. I’m so grateful to her!!

I provide a very custom approach to the individual. I first learn about them as an actor. Have they any training? Do they need help with projecting? Do they need help with speaking lower? Do they need help interpreting scripts? I will use my mini interview on our first lesson to decide what we need to work on and then provide them with the appropriate monologue or scene to prepare for our next lesson. I will then help them truly find themselves in the character using different acting methods I’ve learned. I will give them constructive feedback on their performance and have them practice it at home before their next lesson. Aside from the structure of my lessons, I’m really bubbly and friendly and I think I will make actors feel they are in a safe space to truly express themselves!

Contemporary Dance for Beginners: What Do You Need to Know?

Contemporary dance. You’ve probably seen it on famous dance television shows like So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing with the Stars, but do you actually know what contemporary dance is? With roots in several different styles of dance, like ballet, hip hop, and modern dance, contemporary dance emerged in the mid-1900s and quickly became one of the most popular dance styles in the Western world.  If you are interested in any kind of dance, studying contemporary dance for beginners is a great …
