I teach my kids how to read and annotate texts. It is important to look up all unfamiliar words in the dictionary. And make outlines of chapters that are read read.
A bit of information about myself: I have been tutoring for over seven years and am very familiar with the public and private school systems in Manhattan. I teach everything from Algebra II to American History, specializing in organizational and study skills.
I am a Columbia University graduate. Graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a 3.97 GPA. I currently tutor full-time and also run a music education non-profit, Nvak.

Tamar is a wonderful, dynamic and enthousiastic teacher and my 12 year old daughter had a great time with her.
Tamar knows when to slow down if her student is tired, but is also demanding so as to be sure that progress are made.
It was a pleasure seeing how fast my daughter improved her English and we both appreciated meeting Tamar, who is a great person :)
I strive to provide the best, most interactive online English classes for every student. We will discuss your needs and obtainable goals so that I can personalize your course material in order to reach them.
Some of the ways I integrate technology to make online lessons more effective are:
-Using collaborative slides to be able to work on the materials in real time. -Online tools and resources in order to make the classes more interactive. -Alternative assessment using a variety of content creation in English (see below).
Project-based learning and assessment is authentic language use in speaking, listening, reading and writing activities. Students are assigned creative projects based on real-life use of the language. The content is used to create an ebook, website, training or other presentation. Their project is used for studying, reviewing and as a measure of progress and assessment over time.
Students can choose to participate in this ...
I offer online classes in Spanish, English language (ESL/EFL), TOEFL exam prep and writing. I have taught students from age 3 to senior citizens. I have experience teaching in language centers, bilingual schools and in companies.
I have a TEFL diploma, TBE (Teacher of Business English) Certificate, BA in English Language Learner Studies with a minor in History and an MA in Teaching and Learning with Technology with a specialization as an online educator. Currently, I am pursuing my second MA degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
I begin with new student by identifying their priorities and then setting a SMART goal. Based on the timeline, I make an action plan that we follow so the student can see progress in each and every class. We reevaluate goals and materials as needed.
To make the online classes more interesting and effec
tive, we will use slides to collaborate on the materials together. This allows us to communicate in real time and the information is saved to the drive, so it is easily accessible from any computer, smartphone or tablet.
We can import images, verb charts, worksheets, PDF and doc files, ebooks and videos as needed. Using the tools, you and I will both be able to edit, write and draw on the materials and add any additional notes, links or resources during or between classes.
Please don't hesitate to use the "Ask a question" feature to contact me with any special circumstances or concerns.

I have been teaching music and tutoring for a few years now!
I enjoy music so much! I received my degree from the University of Arkansas Little Rock. I am also a member of the worship band at my church.
One thing that I enjoy the most, as a teacher, is seeing growth and seeing students get that “aha” moment. The most amazing thing about teaching is being able to see the joy in students as they perform. They get to be themselves. Playing an instrument or singing is raw, vulnerable and takes a lot of hard work.
Being a musician is worth it. You get to be able to express yourself in ways impossible otherwise.
Please let me help you along your journey to become the musician you dream to be.
I also mentor/ tutor students at the middle school level in the four core subjects: Math, Science, English and History. I really enjoy w
orking one on one making sure that my students are setting goals and really understanding the material they should be studying.
I would love to teach music and do a little bit of math if you would like that for your child. I can also teach English while we play instruments or sing.
Please let me know if you have any questions! Cannot wait to meet you!
