Informative and patient classes centered around students needs and requirements.

About Rene
Knowing at the age of 5 that music was my life, by being brought up surrounded by praise music and gospel, my early exposure to music helped me to find every Instrument and style just my thing! I wanted to play everything and learn all aspects of music. I started with singing in the children's choir and then developed into piano and music theory. At the age of 12 I began to learn classical guitar, and at 15 took on various styles like Flamenco, Jazz and Rock. I graduated from High School having played in the school band achieving recognition In national Institutions Like IAJE (International As
sociation for Jazz Education) and state band finals. I was also composing from a very early age, and at 18 released my first album (self-titled) which can still be heard and purchased today through various music outlets, since i have released over 15 albums with various ensembles and bands. In college I already knew from my previous experience that I wanted to teach and pass on the joy that music brought to my life. I studied Music Theory and Jazz and finished my degree in Music Education. I have been teaching all in all for about 14 yrs. And I have enjoyed every minute I have spent with my students learning as much from them, as them from me. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us music aficionados! and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching method ranges depending on the student. I believe in my experience that everyone learns differently, therefore everyone develops at their own pace. I try to find key strengths in each student and expose this to their advantage, using their abilities to further develop their skills, this method has shown the most promising results and students usually find themselves playing and performing just a couple of months after their first lessons. Part of my method involves a lot of performance and recital opportunities to help break any fears and inhibitions a student may bring with them. Music is about sharing, so an early exposure to this method helps to strengthen and stabilize a core acceptance of a students style and path, giving them and those close to them a very clear picture of their development and achievements.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Has all instruments at both his home and college studio

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide lesson material, song charts and a progression scale. I require student to have an Instrument and recommended technique literature.

*** Specialties ***
My classical training began in High School with Influences in Segovia, and Romero I studied classical for 4 yrs. and trained in Jazz and Improvisation with performances In Big Band and group ensemble. Also sang and played in the school gospel choir.

****Personal Statement*****

If you needed a reason

There is no question that music touches us instantly and activates images, emotions and memories that linger with us throughout our lives. As a casual listener or an obsessive music elitist, there are times in our lives when we get blown away by a sound so unique our entire body vibrates and resonates with the touch of something out of this world. I can honestly say when this happens to me I feel as close to a spiritual connection than anything I have experienced otherwise. I believe it is these exact events that have triggered my need to be completely involved in the making, performing and consuming of music. The creative process, to me, is the single obvious reason we exist in this world. We create and share, learn and interpret, build on previous ideas and inspire others to perfect upon this process. It is no doubt a very humbling experience to realize you are part of it all. During this process you come to realize how important you are as an Individual, how there is no other vessel like you in this world, nor has there ever been or ever will. You are here now and your voice, your talent, your gift is an instrument to the great choir of the human spirit. No one but you can relate this, a reason to be, to create, to give.

Combine subjects for a price break. For example 30 minutes of Math and 45 minutes of English would cost $50 separately, but would cost $45 for 75 minutes of Combined Tutoring. Simply choose ONE subject for the amount of tutoring time desired, and notify me which subjects you'd like to cover.

About Julie
I am passionate about Music and Music Education. It's rewarding for me to watch my students develop in their musical skill and enjoy making music more and more. My students range from the very young (5 years old) to school age children, to teens, and adults. My students benefit from my expertise in teaching Vocal and Piano music, my knowledge of Music Theory, and my encouraging teaching style. I have been involved in making music since I was a young child, and I have been teaching private students since I was a Music major at the University of Florida in 1982 when a fellow college student as
ked me to teach her voice lessons. I have a Music Education degree from the University of Florida; my major instrument was Voice, my minor was Piano. I taught as a public school music educator in Florida, California, and Tennessee between the years of 1983 to 1997. I taught private students after school in my classroom while I was a public school teacher, and from my home since 1997. My post-graduate continuing professional education includes Tennessee Arts Academy at Belmont University, Kodaly Pedagogy and Solfege Level 1 (vocal teaching techniques, do-re-mi, ear training), Orff-Schulwerk Music for Children Level 1 certification, Yamaha M.I.E. (Music In Education) Piano Lab certification. My professionalism and expertise are at your service. I will work together with you to insure an enjoyable and informative learning experience.

*** Lesson Details ***
A typical lesson in my studio would begin with a brief question/answer time with the student to learn how their week has gone, and how their music practice is progressing.

For PIANO LESSONS we begin with Technique including scales and dexterity exercises, then we play from the Lesson book and a Recital selection. I typically let the student play through the pieces they have prepared without interruption, then I call attention to corrections that need to be made, I demonstrate the correction, and then ask the student to play the piece again. After that we go over the Theory assignments, and do Ear Training exercises. I am comfortable teaching from a variety of different methods courses. The methods course is chosen according to the student's interest. I never require a piano student to continue using books that are not inspiring. There so many methods courses available, that a student may always be able to have methods books they LOVE.

In my SINGING LESSONS we also begin with a recap of the student's week. Then we continue with Warm Up exercises to prepare the student's voice for the lesson. Then we study Sight Singing and Solfege Singing (do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti-do) to increase the student's listening skills. After that the student sings their selections. Like I do in Piano lessons, I listen to the pieces they have prepared without interruption, then I call attention to corrections that need to be made, I demonstrate the correction, and then ask the student to sing the piece again. I am comfortable teaching many styles of vocal music including classical, Broadway, pop, rock, and Christian.

For MUSIC THEORY lessons, the study material is chosen according to the student's interest and age. Topics include notation, chord structure, chord progression, melodic structure, and harmony. I also incorporate Music Listening in the Music Theory lesson in order to learn from the masters in many styles of music. My Music Theory students will also have the opportunity to develop composition and songwriting skills if they desire.

My teaching style is structured and friendly, keeping the student's goals and interests at the forefront. I enjoy motivating students to reach their highest potential.
After 3 to 6 months in my studio my students will see improvement in their musical technique, ear training, music reading, notation, and knowledge. They will be preparing recital pieces for an upcoming performance. I provide three Studio Class performances (February, June, October) and one recital opportunity (December) a year. Most importantly, the student's love and appreciation of music will be growing.

*** Studio Equipment ***

SINGING lessons in Recording Studio: keyboard, recording equipment, desk, 2 chairs, music stand, microphone, private room. Parents may wait in adjacent rec room or sit in on lesson.

I do have a mobile keyboard to bring for SINGING lessons.

Julie is the best piano instructor my boys have had. Her theory based teaching has them learning pieces in record time - and her approach to theory isn't boring. They can now hear a song on the radio, recognize the chords and improvise on their own. She is engaging, encouraging and willing to explore the type of music they enjoy. She adapts her instruction methods based on individual personalities. Your child will not just learn to play piano, they will learn to appreciate music, composers and acquire knowledge that will assist in any instrument they play.

Julie is wonderful! I'm an adult student who has been working with her for about a year. I took voice lessons from childhood through college, then life took over and I pretty much stopped singing. When I decided I wanted to get back into it again, I contacted Julie. I was nervous, but she put me at ease right away. This past year working with her has been so much fun. She helped me prepare for choral auditions, and I got accepted to sing with the Vanderbilt Community Chorus. We pick the repertoire together, so I'm never working on something I'm not interested in. She has helped me master my breathing technique and discover a richer and freer tone. I highly recommend her!

Bring your homework and whatever you're having trouble with and well fix it.

About Jeff
Like many of my friends in high school not knowing what direction to take in life, I chose to take a business career path instead of one of a starving artist. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State Fullerton, a Masters from UC Irvine, and have had much success working for several Fortune 500 companies. However, my love of music always surfaces. And now that I have the resources and ability to spend more time having fun and enjoying life, I choose to spend some of this time teaching and helping students find a love for music.

Music has always been an important part of my life. I've had p
iano lessons since 6 yrs of age and been the lead tenor in many show choir and vocal performing groups. Since 2005, I've been learning the guitar from many local Las Vegas artists ranging from lounge bands at Caesars Palace to orchestra players for the Cirque du Soleil.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a kid, I enjoyed playing piano but I felt that my piano lessons were more of a chore than a hobby, a routine of playing songs I did not particularly like. I make lessons fun by having my students choose the music/genre that they want to play. When they learn songs that they like, students are more engaged and interested. And because they are enjoying themselves, they develop their musical talents more quickly.

My lessons are fun but also challenging. I take you out of your comfort zone by recording lessons from time to time so that you’ll know what you sound like. I feel that the best music comes out when you play from the heart. I teach fundamentals and theory, but I encourage creativity. Each artist is unique and my job is to bring out that individual music style and give you a foundation to grow on.

From a business perspective, I’m organized, punctual, friendly, informative and easy to learn from.

Try me!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have contacts who can provide a full range of recording equipment and provide coaching assistance while recording in the studio. Your end product will be of higher quality for a lower price. We're professionals!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a guitar but would expect the student to have one or get one. I'll loan you one until you get one and I can provide some tips on where to shop.

*** Specialties ***
I enjoy R&B and jazz but can teach any style

ACADEMICS
I started out on take lessons as a music instructor, but I also teach a wide variety of academics. I do have an MBA so I can coach you well and help you ace those exams. Like my music lessons, practice makes perfect. So you'll need to study and "earn" those A+ grades.

Our lessons will cover conversational English first, moving on to vocabulary, grammar, spelling, tenses, and more as you become more comfortable. We will focus on the most common conversation topics, words and tenses so that when you are ready to learn the actual rules, you will already know the basics of English to use as your guide.

English is a tough language to master, but it is quite easy and fun to get started! I am excited to meet you, help you, and learn from you, too!

About Patrick
My name is Patrick; it's so nice to meet you! When I am not working, I love to watch old movies, go to comedy shows, and babysit my godchildren (they are the cutest kids ever).

I have loved helping peoplease learn English for quite a while; as a teenager, I worked at a restaurant with many friends from El Salvador who needed help getting comfortable with the basics of English. They, in turn, helped me learn Spanish, a language I had always wanted to know. Once we could understand each other, I found that I had been missing so many possible frendships, simply because of a language barrier!

I studied film in college (and helped release two silent films from the Library of Congress!), and currently work in real estate management. When I moved to Oklahoma around 2013, I helped raise my godchildren nearly from the time they were born. I helped teach them English (and a little bit of sign language and Spanish), showed them the joy of reading and learning, and had an all around wonderful experience.

My greatest pleasure is helping people in whatever way I can; if you are having trouble with English, I would love nothing more than to help you remove that barrier and see what the world has to offer you once you know this essential world language.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know, day or night. I look forward to meeting you, helping you, and learning from you, too!
