I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old! I love to work with beginner students and give them the tools to be a great piano musician. It's also very energizing for me to work with intermediate students to hone your skills. I focus on proper technique, basic music theory, and a wide variety of repetoire, all while having fun together! I cant wait to help you learn to play.
I typically begin students on traditional method books, and then move to more classical repetoire, supplementing with pieces or genres that the student has interest in!
Typical lessons will include warm ups (scales, arpeggios, other techniques to warm up the fingers), working on repetoire (may include folk songs, broadway/disney, pop, classical, sacred), music theory (note and rest values, key and time signatures, interval recognition, ear training, note recognition, etc.)
Materials that students will need are a piano/keyboard of their own, two lesson/recital books recommended by me, and a theory ...

In Understanding Linear Algebra I have worked extensively with USC, UCI , UCLA and LMU Engineering, Computer Science and Math students develop simple and rigorous methods of formal proofs as applied in matrix and vector space transformations. In Math 245 Linear Algebra, for instance, LMU Engineering students have confirmed the connection between real life problems in Engineering and Business and how these can be described and analyzed through formulation of vectors and Matrices; I have seen students light up as we make transitions from using typical Gauss-Jordan Elimination in finding solutions to viewing multi-dimensional matrices as linear transformations. At the advanced level we have engaged Eigen vectors and Eigen values qualitatively seeing how these explain the future behavior of dynamical systems. It is here that students have started to see the subtle connections between differential equations and linear algebra with linear algebra emerging as a window through which we can ...

How do you write a great song?
Start with a song you love.
Learn it, take it apart and study it from top to bottom.
Use some of what you learn and write a soundalike, or combine it with elements of other songs you know and try making something new.
Record, perform, share and reflect.
One song at a time, you figure out how the process works, and you'll shock yourself with what you write and sing.
That process gets tough, but I've been through it many dozens of times (and counting) and I'm here to share what I know and help you discover your process.
Over the last five years, I've helped students go from zero experience to finishing their first song in less than a month.
I've also helped more experienced students break plateaus in their songwriting and release singles or EPs that stand head and shoulders above their previous work.
I'd love to help you write your first song, or your best one yet- shoot me a message and we can get started!
My musical life started at the piano when I was four. I've spent the last five years helping students understand the sounds that speak to them and bring them into their own music-making. I spent my early years playing piano, then picked up the saxophone, which took me to Berklee College of Music,
I first met Ethan through my school's jazz combo program, and my interest in music immediately grew in the presence of his friendly persona. Ethan organized life changing jam sessions and master classes that I will remember forever. His teaching approach is project based which gives his students something to walk away with. With his guidance, I have become a stronger musician and a wiser person. Thanks Ethan!
