About Natalie
Hello, I'm Natalie, and I am a soprano. I enjoy performing as a soloist, chamber singer, and professional chorister in the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, and Italy. I taught private voice lessons to middle school and high school students at an independent school, as well as free-lance lessons with adult singers, for my last three years in Chicago leading up to my move to Seattle recently. I also became a certified teacher in Illinois in music for K-12, including general music, band, orchestra, and chorus, which is what I used to do full time before deciding to balance my career more evenly between teaching and performing.

As a soloist, my recent performances include my Artist Diploma recital with Byron Shenkman (harpsichord) and Janet See (baroque flute), the Bach's Lunch concert series with Henry Lebedinsky (harpsichord, organ), and th
e Classical Music Nights at Cafe Racer concert series, all here in Seattle. Other significant solo performances include Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 (2015), Purcell’s Te Deum Laudamus (2014), Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer (2014), Fauré’s Requiem (2013), and Bach’s Magnificat (2012). As a chorister in 2013 I rocked it hard singing with the Rolling Stones. I received my Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University in 2010 and 2015, respectively. I am a recent graduate of the Artist Diploma in Early Music program at Cornish College of the Arts.

About Improv:
Improv is a form of theater where everything is made up on the spot. Nothing is scripted, everything is made up in the moment using random suggestions. Improv allows every person & idea to have value. I use the principles of improvisational theater to create better humans! I'm committed to creating an environment safe to make mistakes and providing a very safe and courageous place for people to have fun, learn and play in. You’ll be happily surprised with the outcome.

About Christine:
I have been improvising since 2001 and in 2003 began directing students from ages 5 to 84. My passion is to share the incredible art form of improv with excitement and humor.

Improv is a great learning tool for team building, spontaneity, listening, being present, speaking to groups, communicating one on one, saying yes, respecting one
another and so much more. It helps that each game played builds upon the next to reinforce the learning.

What you get:
One-on-One - 45 min - 1 hour of discussion / rehearsal with Christine - working on improv performance skills or personal communication skills. At the end of the session, you will be armed with new tools.

Improv Troupe Notes - 1 hour - for improv troupes needing an outside eye for notes, direction and ideas for marketing your troupe. At the end of the session, you will have new games and ideas to move your troupe forward.

Custom Course - 45min - 1 hour or weekly - Tell me what you would like to improve. Character choices? Initiations? Storyline? You tell me.

Improv empowers people. Let's empower each other.

Working with Christine has been nothing short of an amazing experience. I have learned so much about the industry and have received so much insight on what it takes to be a great actress/comedian/etc. When I first started out, I had no idea what direction I wanted to take or where to start. Christine was extremely patient and came equipped with a roadmap to getting started. She takes every lesson at the pace that works best for me. She has helped me to set and define clear goals of what I want to accomplish and has made excellent use of our time together. I chose Christine because of previous reviews and she has lived up to every word of what others have said. It's been a blast and I plan to continue developing my skill set with her help!

Christine is the BEST!
As a beginner improver, I am so lucky I found Christine! She has taught me so many valuable tools that have improved my scene work and my decision making. In addition, she always addresses my specific issues during each lesson and even emails me with advice and fun GIFS! (no, not "gifts", but graphic interchange formats! :D Every class is fun and lighthearted and I look forward to it each week.

My lessons are virtual, but she is still very effective at participating in scenes and even encouraged my fellow classmate to join me during our lessons. We can't say enough great things about each class!!

Christine is THE BEST EVER!! We started taking lessons with her in person and "Oh my!" She made my daughter (9 yrs) feel so comfortable from the minute they've met that I had no doubts from the beginning that she is THE ONE for us! She has such a warm, cheerful personality and passion about acting that it is hard not to take a note on it. She connected with my daughter instantly and their relationship has been deepening ever since. She knows exactly how to instruct her, talk to her, guide her. Extremely professional!! Gives her very useful advices, coaches her so well that my daughter thrives and improves tremendously. We are getting prepared for a great event and with her being on board I am absolutely confident that my daughter will deliver her best. She LOVES Christine! I highly recommend her! If you choose her to be your coach, great results will come to you! Guaranteed!!! Thank You Christine for everything! YOU ARE one of those rare kinds...-and of course we keep coming! :))

Our first experience with Betsy was fabulous! She was very knowledgeable and she helped explain her process very clearly. Afterwards, our daughter felt she'd learned a great deal in the short 45 minutes. We look forward to more lessons and more opportunities to learn and grow. We are very pleased with our selection of instructor!

I had tried to take lessons years ago, but was really disappointed in the teacher for not doing much more than having me warm up, then sing a song over and over, then trying to encourage me to go out and sing karaoke as homework between lessons. Betsy understood my goals. She gave me vocal exercises to do as homework and explained WHY I would want to do these exercises. She is able to teach a range of styles, and was very informative when I had questions.
I would have given her 5 stars except that I need to work on confidence before letting other people hear me sing. The reason I wanted a local instead of online teacher was so that I would be out of my house so my own family couldn't even hear me. However, her family was home and sitting in the next room. This made it difficult for me to sing as loud as I needed to for hitting the high notes until well into the lesson when she was able to tell me that my pitch match was good.

About Victoria
Victoria is a native of Salt Lake City, UT, where she fell in love with entertainment at an early age. She went on to major in Musical Theatre at the University of Northern Colorado, and spent 15 years in New York City as a Broadway actress.

Victoria's been honored to work with such illustrious names as Hal Prince, Jack O'Brien, Jerry Mitchell and Frank Wildhorn. She's been featured in numerous workshops of exciting new works, including Broadway's recent Scandalous, written by The Today Show's Kathie Lee Gifford. She's headlined in concerts to benefit charitable causes such as Sandy Hook Elementary and Hurricane Katrina, belted out the national anthem in front of the Green Monster in Fenway Park, and has appeared in many regional productions and concerts around the country.

Victoria is continuing her acting career on the screen, as
well as venturing into the realm of Film Production. She recently produced and starred in a new full length feature film titled Her Voices, a psychological thriller due out this year.

Victoria is excited to pass on her vast knowledge of performance and audition technique though teaching.

"As I continue expanding my theatre career and my film career here in Los Angeles, I’m increasingly interested in passing on some of the knowledge given to me over the years. My coaches and teachers have been INVALUABLE to me, and I would NEVER have had the success I’ve had without them. So in this new chapter of my life and business, I hope to give something back. After all, we are all in this together, and if some little nugget of knowledge I’ve picked up over my career can help someone with theirs, whether they’re in the very early stages or have already began working professionally, I feel like it’s my my joy to help others be the best they can be & achieve their dreams, just like I did!

I enjoy focusing on finding the joy of music and giving students the tools to execute their musical dreams. I think the best description of my teaching and coaching style is as a cheerleader. I want my students to feel confident and passionate about their progress, and I’m a firm believer in positivity and support providing a fun and safe learning environment. I love tailoring my teaching to the individual needs of the student, from breathing techniques to vocal scales to confidence building performance techniques.

I can't wait to start working with you!"

Victoria is THE BEST! I have had the privilege to work opposite her as a performer as well as learn from her as a student. She fosters such a positive environment to express yourself creatively, free of judgement. She is exceedingly kind, incredibly talented, and immensely supportive. She is giving in every capacity and generous with both her time and her energy. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone who is even thinking of studying with her. Stop thinking and just start doing! There should be no doubt with it comes to the incomparable Victoria Matlock :)
