Need help with grammar, papers, or writing style? With an extensive background in English, including a bachelor's degree in English from the University of South Florida, I can help! Whether you need help polishing a paper, are new to the English language, or have no idea how to grow in this area, I'm here to help you write your best!

About Chris
A short history of my experience with music and education:

The first instrument I learned to play was the guitar in 2001.

I played the guitar on the worship team at FBC of Midway in Plant City, FL from 2001 to 2005.

I began teaching private music lessons in 2003.

I played bass guitar in a Christian rock band called of Anastasis from 2003 to 2005.

I played acoustic, electric, and bass guitar on the worship team at Family Worship Center in Lakeland, FL from 2006 to 2012.

I worked as a freelance audio engineer with my in-home recording studio throughout college (and now I just do it for fun).

I played bass and sang background vocals in a worship band called Skyline from 2007 to 2009.

I taught music and trained a student led worship team at Hope Christian Academy from 2009-2010.

I began performing independently from
2009 to present.

I played guitar and sang lead vocals in a Christian Rock Band called A Story Familiar from 2010 to 2012.

From 2010 to 2012, I taught in the Polk County public school system of Florida from 2010 to 2012, where I also worked heavily with students with special needs.

In July of 2012 I moved to Aurora, CO as a volunteer musician to help plant Streams Church.

In January of 2013 I married my beautiful wife.

Upon arriving home from our honeymoon, I was hired as Worship Director for Streams church, and I have worked there since. Some of my responsibilities include developing and executing weekly music set lists, creating charts and sheet music for new songs, and training the worship team in new music.

As for me personally, I love Jesus, my wife, and music.  As I'm sure you can tell by my brief history, I do a lot of church service and ministry, if for this for any reason makes you wary, let me assure you: I play a lot more than just church music.  As a lover of music, there is not much that I don't enjoy in the world of music, and I've taught most of it.  I've taught the young and the not-so-young, and whether you're just beginning to read music, or you're just eager to learn your favorite song, I work closely with you to ensure you achieve the results you desire!

*** Lesson Details ***
Four things I focus on:
1. Creating individualized lesson plans for you
2. Teaching you new techniques and polishing old ones
3. Building your confidence
4. Both of us having a fun, rockin' time!

When taking lessons from me, students can expect an environment that is a balance between being strict and laid back.Music is something that must be learned, and as such, it must also be practiced week-to-week in between lessons.  I consider myself strict because I'll hold you accountable to doing your best to learn the best. Despite holding you accountable, I think the overall mood of the learning environment is laid back; we'll have a lot of fun learning music.  I make sure that we'll be learning at your pace, but keep in mind, this doesn't mean I won't push you to be your best! My teaching experience has taught me one thing: everyone is different. That being the case, I create lesson plans that are unique to you.  Where you will be in a month, six months, a year, largely depends on your commitment to learn, but I'll promise you this:  all of my efforts will be utilized to maximize your potentiality.

*** Attendance Policy ***
I am very flexible with attendance, but I do require a one hour notice that you will not be at the lesson. If a one hour notice is not given, the lesson will be marked as "missed" resulting in payment from your TakeLessons account for the missed lesson.

If you are simply running late, please be sure to let me know-I try to be as flexible as possible, but if the student is over 15 minutes late, I typically mark this lesson as "missed" as well.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide the following equipment for in-studio lessons:
Guitar amplifier
Bass amplifier
Drum Set
Computer
iPad
Recording equipment
Music stand
Seating area for parents/guardians to sit/listen in on the lesson

*** Travel Equipment ***
When offering in-home lessons, I provide the following when traveling for in-home lessons: iPad
For in-home lessons, I expect students to have whatever equipment is necessary for learning their instrument of interest (This typically includes at least the student's instrument and a music stand, but may also include a metronome, tuner, etc.).

*** Specialties ***
Rock, Jazz, Blues, Folk, Praise/Worship, Indie

We've only had 2 lessons so far and he is great! He is encouraging, polite, flexible, kind and takes the extra time if needed. He definitely knows how to teach and knows the natural developmental progression to build the foundation for a beginner and explains what the next goals she'll be working towards. He even learned a Justin Bieber song just to make my kid happy. Lol!

I am a Certified Interpreter in five languages with the US Defense Language Institute Monterrey, California.

English is my third language but I didn’t stop here. I taught my mother and so many others tips on how to learn this language faster in a correct way, with love for proper command in vocabulary and grammar.

If you speak a Romantic language, even better; I’ll find “anchors” to help you connect the dots and allow you to find English words faster.

If your native language is not among the Romantic ones, don’t despair (though my assumption is that you stopped reading by now). Mentors are critical, and I’ll teach you ways to find balance, consistency, and discipline in learning English as a First or Second Language.

About Isabela
Before reading about me, I'd like to share up front the honor that my newest student, R., has brought to me by choosing to learn Romanian. Nothing special so far except that he is 100 years old!!!! Yes, you read that correctly: a century old. He is the outmost inspiring person in my life by teaching me that age is just a number and that learning can happen any day if we choose so. R is a medical doctor, a psychologist, a chemist and biologist. Words can't even define how great of a man he is.

I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested student who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).

I love interacting with people and
pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.

I believe in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.

I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages (and proper grammar rules which highly reflect on one's education) by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration and health.

I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.

Are you ready to finally start learning the most spoken language in the world?
After teaching students from different countries, ages and levels, I can assure you will be able to speak and write in English within a few classes.
My method is not based only in grammar, but also on daily situations. You will learn from songs, series, movies, cartoons and my unique methodology.

About Gabriel
I am Gabriel Palansc, Brazilian and I have been teaching piano and accompanying singers for 8 years.

I’ve got my Bachelor degree in Piano Perfomance from Belas Artes - Curitiba and my double masters degree in Collaborative and Solo Piano Perfomance from University of Massachusetts Amherst.

I have taught students from all different ages and styles. My methodology includes Music Theory, History of Music and Body relaxing exercises, which are extremely important to prevent muscle injuries, such as tendinites, the most common problem in pianists.

My music approach is different for every student, therefore you can choose the styles you want to learn, such as Classical, Pop, Rock, Jazz and also you are more than welcome to blend these.

During the class, you will he encouraged to do some sight-reading exercises and take notes in class about
strategies of studying.

I have been a classical pianist for 17 years, however I’m very eclectic, which is a quality we need to embrace in order to become a musician.

Fee free to e-mail or phone me in case you would like any kind of information.

I lived in Romania for two years (2016-2018) so I do understand 80% of discussions being held, however, but I can only speak roughly 50% of the Romanian language.

I'd love to help improve your English regardless of your language background. However, Romanian-speaking persons are preferred.

I'm flexible and adaptable to many different learning styles. I am also willing to work with installment plans as well as specific knowledge regarding the English language and slang.

About Janel
I love working with all Romanian-speaking students interested in improving their English.

About Teri
Bonjour all! I've been an educator most of my career. I lived in France for many years and loved every moment! French did not come easily to me which is why of all the disciplines I teach, I think French is one of my strongest suits. It's such a beautiful language to be a part of and I love sharing this knowledge. I'm also involved in movement education and have a small studio in the valley. I've now been in the Arizona the past three years, after spending the last two decades between NYC and Paris.
