Your Accent/Dialect/Regionalism are shaping who you are. It is not wrong. Your first language/regionalism is your heart language. However, would you like to add "Standard American (Euphonic Neutral)" as an option? During a session with me, you will find where we create sounds to speak Standard American English without mimicking anyone! And it is fun!
Certified Practitioner of The Lessac Voice and Movement Institute and a candidate for certification.
I own the business license as voice/acting/accent modification coach from City of Los Angeles.
I have experience teaching clients from many cultural backgrounds, including ESL who struggle to melt into the classes and to think in English. I am effective at diagnosing what they need to work on and helping them to achieve their goals. I will bring my energy to the session and encourage clients to share their questions, to express themselves, to respect each other, to work harder and to love language deeply.
My lessons are designed with diverse groups of clients in mind because Los Angeles is a huge cultural melting pot. I will share with international clients how to feel the American energy as themselves witho

Experience, enthusiasm, and expertise describe me as a teacher. In addition to my training in Linguistics, Translation, Intercultural Communication and TESOL, I bring to the table 17 years of experience teaching English in a variety of contexts to a variety of students. I have taught middle and high school students craving attention and fun, business professionals striving for promotion, college students aspiring to study abroad, and PhDs polishing their communication skills. I will not overwhelm you with lots of talk and information; I will make YOU the center of each session. Regardless of the skills you want to practice (no kongfu though :)), I will do my best to accommodate your needs. As a person, I am efficient but friendly, serious but humorous, a challenger but an encourager. And, I look forward to working with you.
Here is my philosophy of teaching in a very very brief form: I am a big believer in needs analysis and diagnostic. Before any goals are s
As far as methodology goes, I am pretty eclectic. Again, methods and approaches are chosen based on students' needs. Sometimes we just have to work on drilling sounds and intonation or some simple grammar concepts like “do/does”, while at other times open conversation is the best way to practice the same content. One key component that doesn’t change is the focus on the student. I work hard on planning my lessons so that my students do most of the work during class. I also strive to contextualize everything around real life by choosing materials that are recent and relevant.

Hi there, I'd like you to know a little bit more about me. I was born upstate NY, my parents are both from Brazil and decided to move back when I was five years old. I lived in the city of Belo Horizonte until I graduate High School and decided to move back to the US to continue my studies. I then fell in love with Spanish and not only decided to study it but to make it my career. I got certified in Translation/Interpretation from Spanish to English and vice versa. I am now double-majoring on Spanish/ Latin American Studies at UNCC and hope one day working at the US State Department. I truly think that being a bilingual nowadays is not just a plus but a must. Therefore, I shall pass on my passion for languages and help others lean them with love and joy other than just a necessity.
I have 20 years of experience teaching ESL in many different settings: pre-school, elementary school, high school (international schools), after school tutoring and dyslexia support, adult classes at language institutes and Business English at multinational companies. I have taught in Italy, Mexico and China. I am also fluent in Spanish, Italian, Dutch and some German, so I can support my lessons in the native language of many ESL students when needed, although full-immersion (English only) is preferred .
