I have been teaching English as a Second Language/English to Speakers of Other Languages and English as a Foreign Languages in Germany and the United States for more than two decades. The degree MA English undoubtedly forms a solid foundation for it. I authored and co-authored numerous textbooks of English as a Foreign Language for the German public school system.

About Wolfgang
I spent two decades of my professional life teaching English in Germany, authoring and co-authoring textbooks for the English classroom.
During my stay in the US, I had the opportunity to develop curricula for teaching German in public schools as well as private schools and wrote articles in the field of German literature. Undoubtedly, my academic background (MA in German and English and a Ph.D. in the field of education) helps me to provide solid work for my students.

What is my approach? First of all, I listen carefully, very carefully. I believe it is important for an excellent job to know precisely what my client wants to accomplish. Understanding this is the prerequisite to give good advice, guidance and then, of course, a plan, a kind of strategy to follow in order to reach these goals.

There is no dogma; there is only one
main criterion: success.

Most highly recommended! I found Wolfgang to be an excellent German instructor for me. As a mature (50+) professional I was looking for a native German with perfect mastery of English and impeccable teaching credentials. Wolfgang fit that description perfectly. He tailored the lessons to my needs and made them fun. Along with the excellent language lessons, I really enjoyed his stories about life in Germany, and especially his hometown of Berlin. Thanks to Wolfgang I am much farther along my journey of learning to speak German.

Wolfgang was top notch. He understood and catered to both my learning needs and my chaotic schedule. His knowledge of the German language and its history only exists from a native speaker, and his skill with instruction only comes from decades of experience. Lessons were always informative and fun!

I have deep intercultural sensitivity, after spending significant time abroad studying and traveling; and I have sophisticated English language skills.

About Natalie
After graduating high school at the top of my class, I got full funding for an economics degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where I was born. I was very busy in college--my extracurriculars included 2 semesters abroad (Spain, Singapore), writing an honors thesis, being a consultant to the academic advising office, and being president of an honor society; besides this I worked my butt off in classes and graduated with a 3.7.

Besides academics, I am super interested in fitness, general wellness and psychology.

I would love to talk it out with you wherever our learning interests intersect!

After working with all levels of ESL ( English as a Second Language) students in the Netherlands for 15 years and now back in the USA with Asian college students since 2015, I am confident in my ability to help anyone to speak, hear, read and write English in a professional manner and level optimally. My Dutch students have won regional public speaking awards to participate nationally and with an extensive performing arts background, I am most expert in boosting any student's performance as an English speaker and/or writer in whatever subject my students choose.

About Abby
Due to my maternal grandfather's work as a Chicago vaudeville orchestra leader, from early childhood, the performing arts have been in my blood. Starting to study classical flute at age 12, then playing in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and taking professional jazz/classical flute workshops/master classes, I've been teaching and playing all styles of music professionally since my 20's.

Vocal study began at age 15 with some great artists/educators in SF, Seattle, and Europe, including Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy, Adrian West from NYC Broadway, David Tigner- SF Opera, Davida Kagan-Seattle Opera, and Roland Wyatt-
Manhattan Transfer coach /NY Academy of Dramatic Arts. Through many teaching years, I've developed a very successful, uniquely simple 8 part method to help cross cultural individuals and groups sing optimally from thei
r hearts. For all levels from beginners to professional. the necessary basic vocal techniques can be taught effectively in 4 to 8 lessons, though the process of becoming a successful artist continues during one's lifetime.

With a BA in Theater Arts from SFSU, and over 50 years directing, acting, and musical experience, including 15 years working successfully as an ESL educator, my experience has allowed me to help any student achieve their personal and/or professional goals.

Abby is an excellent teacher. She tried her best to help me understand English by providing me examples, explaining detail, revising grammar, and so on. Besides teaching me English, she shared her own experiences with me. She told me how people can get through difficulties.
She is not only a real teacher in English, but also in life.

Abby van Spronsen is an excellent teacher, who has helped me develop my voice and musical style before and during my Conservatory studies. She really takes time for her students and because of her musical background she knows about many different styles, from jazz to pop to musical and even classical music. She knows how to use this knowledge well in her classes and loves to teach, which makes her a very inspiring voice teacher. I have learned a lot during the time that I took classes from Abby.

I focus on speech fluency, it doesn't matter if you memorize vocabulary but don't have the confidence to speak the words you took the time to study. I practice with the basics of grammar because I want you to be comfortable saying the first thing that pops into your head, we can work on building more advanced skills later.

About Kyle
Hi, I am an undergrad studying Horticulture at OSU, I enjoy gardening and working together with people and plants. I am a baking enthusiast, I love all forms of food, and I live to play soccer.
My parent's took me to Japan for 3 years as a child to expose me to different cultures and people, which I've taken to heart in believing that however different our upbringing or backgrounds are, we are just people. People who just want to communicate their thoughts, emotions, and observations with others, and I want to help contribute to spreading communication as much as I can.
I have worked as a TA and tutor at OSU for students studying Japanese, and I have helped many Japanese exchange students understand English grammar and how they can relate(make connections with) their native language to English.
I will structure lessons that are practical
for you to learning English or Japanese that relate to your interests and profession. My intentions are for you to become more comfortable speaking in your second language, to develop conversation skills that you can use, and to take enjoyment from using a non-native language.
I am an easygoing, reliable, patient guy. I understand we all start at different levels of fluency and will work with you every step of the way, in other words, fluency is repetition.

I got partnered up with a pen-pal system at my university, and have kept with it all these years. I have grown from just helping these other university students speak and write, to a great friendship. I have worked with university students from all around the world: Italy, France, Sweden, Holland, Poland, China, Taiwan, and Ecuador. I have such a passion for other languages and cultures.
I got my undergrad in hospitality management, and I used my degree to move and gain personal experience with other cultures. Now, I decided to follow my passion of languages and teaching; I am working on my masters in Elementary School Education, and Teaching English as a Second Language.

My goal is to not only have fun while learning; but to make you comfortable in speaking the English language. I want my students to set goals and achieve them. I am very much a ...

About Tawsha

I have loved learning about other cultures and languages; and, I have loved being able to teach them about mine - the English Language. I am hoping I too can hear your experiences and share mine with you, all while learning the English Language.

I started my masters degree in 2016. I have had about one full year in the school system, shadowing different first-grade teachers. I am working, currently, on building my educational resume and experience.

I worked as an ESL (English as a second language) Teacher in both Elementary and Junior High Schools; 5th-9th grade; in Japan. While I was there, I taught ESL classes as well as cultural classes. I also selected and coached 4 students in a city-wide English speech contest where 2 of my students placed 1st and 2nd in their divisions.

I currently teach ESL to Chinese students ages 5-12

About Jahara
Just some information on me and my language background:

I am a graduate from the University of Arizona, majoring in East Asian Studies. That major included a focus on the Japanese language and culture, as well as a Minor in Mandarin Chinese. I have been studying the Japanese Language for 9 years now, and 4 of the years include a formal university-level education, 2 of them being in Japan.

I lived and studied in Saitama, Japan for 6 months, graduating from the Japanese Studies Program at Tokyo International University in the Fall of 2012.

I later worked as an ESL (English as a second language) Teacher in both Elementary and Junior High Schools; 5th-9th grade; in Japan. While I was there, I taught ESL classes as well as cultural classes. I also selected and coached 4 students in a city-wide English speech contest where 2 of my students p
laced 1st and 2nd in their divisions.

My career path is focused on teaching English and Japanese as second languages, as well as encouraging studying abroad during higher education. I have also completed a minor in Mandarin Chinese, which means I have 2 formal years of study. I also speak basic level Korean and Spanish.

I believe that language is a strong, lucrative tool in today's society. Not only does it improve one's credentials in the competitive job market; highlighting you over others; but it also allows one to expand his/her mind by making the cultures of other nations accessible. It is a social tool that enables a person to be able to work well with others in an array of environments, including multicultural.

On top of it all, learning a language is fun. I truly truly love it, and I believe that anyone who sets their mind to it, with the proper tools and resources, can do it. Whether that just be some survival phrases for your upcoming vacation (which Ive done) or you're looking to master the language. That is what I am here for. I want to be a resource for students of ALL ages, and assist and support them in their language journey.

From a teaching standpoint I believe that lessons should be interactive and fun I worked with incoming college freshman as a mentor, working with my colleagues to organize and execute fun and educational events that would encourage the students to get excited about learning. I actively created games and fun interactive activities and worksheets for my younger students in Japan. The best learning is the kind you do without realizing it.

I'm a certified teacher of English so I know perfectly well what phonetic and grammar features need to be explained and how to present them in an easy way. I'm fun to be with, very sensitive to my students' personalities and needs, excellent at encouraging them to talk and be creative. The key concept of my teaching method is communication + enjoyment. I firmly believe that every student is a bright student if the teaching material they are presented with is relevant and stimulating.

About Svitlana
I'm passionate about languages. In addition to my English, Russian and Ukrainian, I'm now learning Spanish. I also love reading. In 2016 I participated in an all-Russia literary translation competition held by the British Council - New Writing From The UK. There were about 5,000 applications, and my translation was awarded the first prize!

I was very lucky with the teacher, because I'm a little lazy by nature and I need to be constantly stimulated and keep my mind focused. Lana is just the teacher who can interest you so much that you will postpone all other things and immerse yourself in this wonderful world of English. Learning the language with her is captivating and effective - I started from scratch and I'm fluent and confident now! Thank you so much

Very impressed with this teacher. I need English for work - maintaining contacts with foreign clients - and tried many different instructors before. Up until I found Lana, I thought I didn't have an ability to learn a foreign language. But she has really shown me that learning English is possible for me and it can even be fun. Highly recommend!
