Healthy singing is a multifaceted endeavor. It requires synergistic engagement not only between the vocal folds and vocal tract but also between the entirety of the body and the perceptive mind, regardless of genre or style. My teaching addresses and fuses each component of this pivotal trio comprising mind, body, and voice. The result will allow your instrument to find a newfound freedom of expression, progressively giving you the increased power and the agility to emote in a multitude of styles across the vocal spectrum.

Recognizing singing as a deeply individual experience, I am a fervent advocate of student empowerment. My job is to bestow you and guide you with the fundamental technical tools that you can then use to earn the gratification of becoming your own best teacher for whatever you desire to sing. Although I specialize in classical technique and employ it as a foundational anchor, my holistic approach is adaptable across the range of age, level, and style and can be ...

I’ve really enjoyed working with Max, and have often picked his brain because I know his knowledge of the voice is so valuable. He’s a vulnerable and wonderful performer and a personable teacher who goes out of his way to keep learning- I think that makes him the best teacher! I recommend him to anyone who has a chance to be his student or work with him.

Max is an absolute pleasure to work with and a front running professional in the voice pedagogy industry. His sensitivities from everything diction to vocal mechanics and body/mind awareness in singing helped me think of my voice in a whole new way. I have never met a voice teacher so able to communicate technical advice in plain speech. Each lesson I had firm take aways and felt I dramatically improved in the space of a month. Thanks Max!!

Max is one of the most passionate and knowledgeable vocal science pedagogues I know. As his colleague, I know his students will benefit from his detailed explanation in mastering a comprehensive understanding of the human voice. He is dedicated to his craft as a musician and as a teacher and I highly recommend him!

Concertina:
A free-reed musical instrument, like the various accordions and the harmonica. It has a bellows, and buttons typically on both ends of it. When pressed, the buttons travel in the same direction as the bellows, unlike accordion buttons, which travel perpendicularly to the bellows. Always starting with basics the student will learn how to hold the instrument, notes, chords, reading, and playing songs.

Extremely knowledgeable! Karen is a superb guitar instructor. Honestly, I was struggling. Discouraged! She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses, and moved me from beginner to intermediate in a matter of months. If you’re getting tired of learning from YouTube and smart phone apps, let Karen kick start your guitar playing. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Karen!!

This teacher misrepresented her ability to teach the C system chromatic button accordion. I don't believe that she has ever played one. I asked her before purchasing a set of classes if she knew this instrument and was competent to teach it, and she said she was.

She didn't have one, so she could never demonstrate anything I asked about. She didn't know the key layout. She didn't know the conventions for numbering fingers. She didn't know the basic home key scale pattern.

I waited until I'd finished four classes with my new teacher before writing this so I'd have a good basis for comparison. He is immensely better at teaching this than she was. It further convinced me that she never should have represented herself as competent to teach this particular instrument.

Pedagogy is one of the few and rare professions that requires true vocation and conviction. I believe that teaching comes from sharing and I love to help each and every one of my students develop their own gift and understanding of music. This year marks the beginning of my 11th year of teaching and I am fascinated and humbled by everything that I have learned from all of my students!
Learning to play an instrument is a formative, fun and inclusive process for both teacher and student. I enjoy seeing my pupils progress and ultimately, finding their voice and telling their own story through music. My objective as a docent is to inspire students to develop high intrapersonal intelligence so that they may become their own best teacher.
It is my hope that my students will acquire tools that will not only help them become better musicians but that will also assist them in other areas of their lives.
The student will learn healthy ways of approaching the instrument. I guarantee the

Aleksandre is an amazing teacher! I've only been taking lessons with him for a month now and already feel more confident in my technique and happier with my sound! Aleksandre has incredible skill with the instrument and, importantly, is gifted in teaching as well! I highly recommend Aleksandre if you are looking to begin playing the viola or starting up again after decades like me!

My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her lessons with Aleksandre and she has made tremendous strides in just 1 year with his instruction. He is nurturing and encouraging, giving praise when it is due, but also is meticulous and has high standards. In this sense he really strikes a perfectly balanced approach to teaching and shows a genuine investment in her progress. He demonstrates an obvious passion for the instrument and it is thrilling and inspiring to hear him play. He is a real role model and a cheer leader for his students. She and I both highly recommend Aleksandre!
Alexis
Aleksandre is an outstanding teacher! Truly one of the best. My son began taking lessons with Aleksandre a little more than a year ago. Aleksandre has a way of teaching that completely engages and excites my son while ensuring that he is learning how to read music and play with rhythm and feeling. When we had to go remote, Aleksandre did not miss a beat. My son has grown to love the violin so much that we increased our lessons to twice a week. I would highly recommend Aleksandre as a professional, thoughtful and extraordinary teacher of the violin.

I've taught people who were just beginning violin (both children and adults) to students who were working on major concertos. What is most important to me as a teacher is building a strong foundation from which it is possible to branch out and connect emotionally with the music they play. I also strive to make performers out of violinists and to help them engage both audiences and themselves.

About Ha-eun

I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 20 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, perf

I got a great introduction to the instrument and the music theory from Ha-eun. She provides a lot of feedback, explaining in a number of ways so that you can understand the concept or your mistakes better. Also she is very friendly and super chill so don't worry about your age if you are just starting, it will be a lot of fun.

Ha-eun has been an amazing violin teacher. I played violin for several years throughout my childhood and then stopped playing for about 10 years before deciding I wanted to learn again. Having not played for so long, I wasn't really sure what I remembered or what my skill level was at.

Ha-eun has done a great job evaluating me and picking pieces that are challenging but still do-able. She is really friendly and encouraging and has made re-learning the violin an enjoyable experience.

For personal reasons, I have to take a break from violin for a little but when I re-start lessons, I will definitely pick Ha-eun as my teacher again if she is still taking students at that time!

She really knows her stuff when it comes to music and I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn violin.
