Let's have fun and enjoy English language conversation. We will explore idioms and nuances of American and British English -- slang, humor, formal, writing, and any use of English that is relevant for you.

About Kristin
Hello!

I received a Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance from Drake University in Flute and Piano. Currently pursuing a Master's in Music Therapy.

At Drake, I received a musical scholarship covering 80% of my tuition costs.
I was also honored to sit as Principal Flute in both the Drake Symphony Orchestra and the Drake Wind Symphony, the top performing groups at the University.

I started to play the flute and piano in second grade, and
my love and passion for music have only grown and matured since then.

I enjoy sharing what I've learned, and learning from my students as well.

I am excited and thrilled by the opportunity to work with you!

My first piano lesson turned out to be so much more than I could have ever expected. My teacher, Kristin is so engaged in the lesson and so very well prepared. We covered so much in such a short time. She made every minute both fun and informative while providing a very friendly environment in her studio. I feel very fortunate to have found such a really competent music teacher.

I fully understand the approach and needs for ESL as my children themselves benefited from this program when we first arrived in the US, from France.

About Isabelle
I am a native French speaker born in France; I have lived in the USA since 2000 and speak English fluently. I teach both French and English as a Second Language (ESL). I am used to teaching/ coaching/ interacting with students of all ages (9-80+) and with professionals in a corporate environment. In fact I have worked in-countries and remotely with people located in France, Poland, India, Canada, Guatemala and Brazil. I speak some Spanish and German, and that might help you as well, depending on your background. I am happy to add a cultural dimension to the language support. For Life Coaching lessons, I draw from my experience and best practices. I will share simple yet highly effective tips and approaches to help you meet your needs.

For best results; I recommend a minimum of 2 (two) 45-minute sessions per week. I look for students
sincerely interested in making great strides and committed.

Happy to start any time soon. THX for visiting my profile. Questions welcome!

I am a native English speaker and have both tutored individuals ages 7 - 14 and taught English middle and high school classes in ESL (English as a Second Language) and regular English. Throughout, every student I have had has been different. Their needs and goals may often overlap, but success in achieving these goals often looks a little different for each one.

About Beth
I earned my BA in French with a minor in math from Pomona College, followed by my Masters in French Language Education from the Sorbonne University in Paris. I have six years of experience teaching English and English as a foreign language to middle and high school students.

I have taught private violin and viola lessons since the beginning of 2012. As a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, I have completed their violin pedagogy courses for Suzuki books one through four. I have played in various local orchestras since high school, including the San Diego Youth Symphony, the Pomona College Orchestra, the San Francisco Civic Symphony, San Francisco Civic Strings, the West Sacramento Community Orchestra, and the Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra. I also play handbells, and currently play with RiverBells Sacramento.

Mrs. Jen has been a violin teacher for our daughter for 3.5 years. She is an extremely qualified and talented musician who deeply cares about her students and is committed to teaching. She is kind and patient, but also effective and motivating. When our 8 year old daughter learned Mrs. Jen was moving she said, "I probably will never have as neat or special of a violin teacher as Mrs. Jen"- and she's right!

First lesson was fine. We took a few minutes to find each other in a cafe setting but as it was also a meet and greet session I wasn't too concerned about time. As it turns out Beth more than made up the time. She's very pleasant and easy to speak with. We went over my goals, simple traveler type words, phrases and questions, and a work schedule to cover the next several weeks. Beth told me how she was going to approach teaching me after listening to my goals. I'm looking forward to the next session where we can focus on learning the language.

I highly recommend, the best teacher I’ve had. Responsible! Caring!

I took TOEFL perpetration classes with Henry. He is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. Because of his experience in journalism he has amazing knowledge in writing, reading, speaking, He worked on my general English skills first because I thought I had enough proficiency in English while I didn't, and after some classes he started TOEFL, he definitely knows what area of English I was weak in so, step by step, he lead me in the right direction. He's very responsible and carrying. I got a higher score than I was expecting.

I am currently studying to become a high school English teacher. I tutor six students at the time. One of my students doesn't speak English. I speak a bit of Spanish, but I am by no means perfect at it. Teaching is a passion of mine, especially English.

About Lindsay
I have a passion for teaching. I am studying to teach high school. I am going to school for and English degree, but I am considering making my minor a second major. That would be history. I love when students get that fire in their eyes, and it makes me feel accomplished.

Pronunciation focused lessons to help you become comfortable expressing yourself in *any* social or business situation. These lessons focus on training your tongue, lips, and other mouth muscles- the way you train your body for running a marathon or lifting weights.

Do any of these statements sound like something you've said?
"I have a hard time understanding English when people speak fast."
"People misunderstand me or ask me to repeat myself a lot."
"I get nervous when I speak English with native speakers."

I specialize in teaching you to make and understand the sounds of English, so you don't have to deal with those thoughts any more.

About Saunatina
I’m a student and a teacher.

I love learning languages and have been through the same challenges as you on your language learning journey.
I know how frustrating it is to know what I want to say and be misunderstood or struggle to follow a conversation with native speakers.

I love to travel. I've lived in Mexico and Berlin and love meeting new people, getting to know the quirks of a new home.

I hate studying. I craft my lessons around the idea that "sitting all alone in my room" is such a waste of time when I could be out practicing with native speakers.

I worked as an ESL (English as a second language) Teacher in both Elementary and Junior High Schools; 5th-9th grade; in Japan. While I was there, I taught ESL classes as well as cultural classes. I also selected and coached 4 students in a city-wide English speech contest where 2 of my students placed 1st and 2nd in their divisions.

I currently teach ESL to Chinese students ages 5-12

About Jahara
Just some information on me and my language background:

I am a graduate from the University of Arizona, majoring in East Asian Studies. That major included a focus on the Japanese language and culture, as well as a Minor in Mandarin Chinese. I have been studying the Japanese Language for 9 years now, and 4 of the years include a formal university-level education, 2 of them being in Japan.

I lived and studied in Saitama, Japan for 6 months, graduating from the Japanese Studies Program at Tokyo International University in the Fall of 2012.

I later worked as an ESL (English as a second language) Teacher in both Elementary and Junior High Schools; 5th-9th grade; in Japan. While I was there, I taught ESL classes as well as cultural classes. I also selected and coached 4 students in a city-wide English speech contest where 2 of my students p
laced 1st and 2nd in their divisions.

My career path is focused on teaching English and Japanese as second languages, as well as encouraging studying abroad during higher education. I have also completed a minor in Mandarin Chinese, which means I have 2 formal years of study. I also speak basic level Korean and Spanish.

I believe that language is a strong, lucrative tool in today's society. Not only does it improve one's credentials in the competitive job market; highlighting you over others; but it also allows one to expand his/her mind by making the cultures of other nations accessible. It is a social tool that enables a person to be able to work well with others in an array of environments, including multicultural.

On top of it all, learning a language is fun. I truly truly love it, and I believe that anyone who sets their mind to it, with the proper tools and resources, can do it. Whether that just be some survival phrases for your upcoming vacation (which Ive done) or you're looking to master the language. That is what I am here for. I want to be a resource for students of ALL ages, and assist and support them in their language journey.

From a teaching standpoint I believe that lessons should be interactive and fun I worked with incoming college freshman as a mentor, working with my colleagues to organize and execute fun and educational events that would encourage the students to get excited about learning. I actively created games and fun interactive activities and worksheets for my younger students in Japan. The best learning is the kind you do without realizing it.
