About Liza
I have been professionally singing and taking voice lessons since the age of 9! I went through various styles in my love and performance of music, starting with the Beatles, Aretha Franklin and all of Motown, Jazz (Ella Fitzgerald), R&B, and Classical/Opera (starting when I was in high school and attending Interlochen Arts Camp)...

Having received a Bachelor's of Music in Voice (Music Theatre Performance) from NYU, I stayed in NYC after graduation performing in musical theatre and theatre.

In 2009, I decided to apply to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, with the intent to broaden my range of skill and opportunity as a performer, but also with the intention to teach, with the higher degree strengthening this possibility. I began to teach voice lessons to fellow students while at LAMDA. When I returned to NYC, I began to
build my own voice studio in of post-graduate students and adults looking to further develop their vocal practice or begin a vocal practice. I found that in my vocal lessons, I was using physical exercises as for the actor, to incorporate in my private teaching method. I believe in doing, not only watching and observing. This, in conjunction with movement and full-body execution, opens the student vocally and emotionally. I chose to go to LAMDA because the classical training and approach to theatre training in England is extremely physical. They work from the outside in, and I find that the language of the body is universal to students of any intellectual capacity, and I strive to bring this into my approach in any type of teaching format!

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach voice lessons to adults and young students who are beginning their vocal training practice, as well as those who are accomplished singers and performers and want to take their singing and performance to the next level! I use my skills as an accomplished vocalist and teacher to empower my students to find their own voice and learn to express a story through song. I enable my students to hone their craft and find their own style of expression through the exploration of music in a multitude of genres and cultures.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Stuyvesant style piano in my home studio. I also have a vast collection of repertoire.

*** Specialties ***
Singing for Music Theatre / Broadway
Singing Pop/Rock/R&B
Singing Jazz
Singing Original Material (Singer/Songwriter)
Acting: Audition Coaching / Performance

Lizzie loves taking lessons with Liza. Nancy (me, grandma) is the name connected with the account, but Lizzie is the gal taking the lessons. We- Liz, her mom and I are thrilled to have found Liza since this is the perfect match. Not only that, Liza is so much in touch with her student that she teaches her exactly what she needs to learn. We couldn't have found a more perfect teacher for Lizzie! We all hope that Liza will be Lizzie's vocal teacher for many more years.

About Cosima
My specialty is voice but I also teach acoustic guitar, ukulele and songwriting for the student who desires to develop their own style and create their own songs. Not only is it fun but the music education that comes with it is highly valuable for future musicians. (guitar and ukulele rentals available at an additional cost to the student)

For students who are just beginning their vocal journey or are busy performers who want to improve healthy technique and sing with more confidence; or perhaps a worship leader or backup singer is struggling with vocal strain, my goal is to help them find vocal freedom and maintain an amazing, healthy voice that will confidently meet their expectations, year after year, in every situation, every time.

As an active performing vocalist, musician, songwriter, and Christian worship artist and band lea
der, I understand the demands and challenges of a busy performance calendar, singing sets for back-to-back audiences day after day and week after week, and the need for a vocalist to find the vocal freedom that will produce confidence in their voice no matter what the venue.

The first steps to mastering vocal freedom are the building blocks for vocal success. Whether the student is a child or an adult, with little or no training, it is my goal to make singing an enjoyable and freeing experience.

Singing with complete vocal freedom and confidence can seem very elusive. Surprisingly, it's not as elusive as one might think! Vocal freedom is within reach and most students experience a measure of it within the few first lessons, some even gaining a full octave in their range in their first lessons. Using a systematic method incorporating the study of good vocal technique and working on songs the student loves to sing makes learning more fun and gives the student a greater appreciation of music as a whole while encouraging a passion for music that lasts a lifetime. I encourage and teach sight reading, and theory basics especially for those students who are considering music as a profession.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each student learns with material that will be divided into step-by-step doable lessons so they can be sure to learn the best techniques and material along the way. Sheet music and lesson books are provided at a minimal additional cost.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My home-studio is bright and open and set up with an upright piano, full length mirror, music stand, iPad with appropriate applications, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and computer for recording and playback. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons or wait for their children in the adjacent room. I also may provide a follow-up email which includes any recordings and lesson notes from the current lesson.

As the student progresses I also provide a PA system to teach mic technique and build performance confidence.

I ask that students come prepared with the following items to their lessons.
~ Bottled water
~ A ring binder with paper for notes and a zippered pouch to keep tools and handouts.
~ A flash drive for recording transfers or they can use their phone or other recording device to record their lessons.
~

*** Specialties ***
I honestly love my students and love teaching! It's such a privilege to be a part of their musical journey. I specialize in church worship vocals, choir, a capella, show tunes and musical theater. I teach free, healthy vocal technique which enables each student to explore and focus on different styles of singing. I also love teaching young voices especially teens who want to have a good time learning to sing.

NOTE ~ My teaching style is more structured therefore some young children may not be ready to take lessons with me.

I love working with my students. Watching them succeed at what they do is what makes my day great. I always love to have a fun atmosphere around me and enjoy every minute it. Music is great for self expression a great Escape or an easy pass-time. It's nothing that should be stressful, but the opposite and that is what my lessons aim to do. So I'm fairly new to the acting scene. I decided to try out some classes at The Film Set in Claremont. Upon meeting Ernie, I was a bit intimidated and out of my comfort zone. There were people there that were REALLY good and I thought I could never compare. Ernie has a way of adjusting to your personality to get you to dive into things at a rate in which you are comfortable with. He has the ability to point out your strengths and improve them, exponentially. Not only is he great at his craft, or stellar in his ways of teaching; he truly is just an all around great guy. His vibe, energy and demeanor make him very pleasant to be around. It's almost like i would pay him just to be my friend. if you are shopping for an instructor, try this guy out. You won't be disappointed and if you are, then acting's probably not for you.

Teaching the craft of acting is something Ernie has mastered. Learning from him has been a great. As a first time actress Ernie welcomed me with warmth. He understands how nervous first time actors can be but, with grace he knows how to calm those nerves down and help you reach your best acting potential. Ernie has helped me learn my acting strengths and weaknesses. His coaching and feedback is very precise. Pointing out small cues to improve your acting and guiding you on ways to better the character. His coaching pushes you to discover many sides of the scene and helps you better understand the scrip, which only makes you a better actor. Thanks to Ernie my passion for acting has only become more realistic as I pursue my career. For anyone looking for serious coaching and looking to make acting their career I would highly recommend Ernie.

No matter your previous acting experience Ernie will work with you and help you understand the business of acting. Ernie is easy to talk to, he gives good criticism on ways I can improve (i.e Vocally, or my physical presence or facial expressions). He pays attention and can see what you're capable of even if you're hiding it. After every class I am more confident in my acting because I have such an amazing teacher.

I graduated with a BFA in dance from The Ohio State University, one of the top 5 modern dance departments in the country. I took my first dance class at two years old and have been dancing ever since. I've been a professional dancer for over 20 years and I am trained in modern, contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, West African, tap, lyrical, burlesque and ballet. I am a dancer who believes that dancing is about more than just technique. You have to have technique but you also have to have stage presence and dynamic performance. That is what I am known for. I encourage my students to dance beyond technique and find your own individual expression as a dancer.

I have danced for many well known musical artists, commercials, films and award shows. I have a unique gift to be able to make a dancer out of anyone. I can see your movement quali
ty and style and help you reach your full potential. I teach in a fun and easy to understand way that gives you a balance of technique and stage performance. You will leave every rehearsal feeling confident and looking forward to the next one. I am also a professional actor on TV and Film and have toured the country in theatre shows. My acting helps me to bring a performance element to dance and I am able to communicate instruction and technique for easy understanding. I teach all levels and customize each lesson so that you are always challenged in a fun way. I currently teach at a dance academy that prepares and sends students off to the professional world so I am consistently in the world of dance every week and bring a freshness to our rehearsals. As a dancer I believe we never stop learning and growing.

I want to teach and work with dancers who are excited and passionate and ready to have some fun. You will see your technique improve, discover more of what you thought you could do and have a great time doing it all. With my versatility as a dancer/choreographer and actor you will discover dance in a new way. I really look forward to meeting you.
