In addition to teaching music, I have also worked as a special education assistant and wrestling/track coach at Lake Zurich Middle School South and an assistant Kung Fu/Tai Chi instructor at Green Mountain Arts in Logan Square, Chicago, Illinois. Jazz piano, Voice, and Composition are my main areas of expertise. However, I have also been recording, and playing guitar almost my entire life. Daniel adapted throughout the course of the hour-long lesson to understand what I already knew and find appropriate ways to fill in the gaps of my knowledge. He also started me on the process of learning a new approach when looking at and learning to play new music pieces.

I design lessons individually according to the needs and "wants" of each student. I specialize in developing and correcting technique in technique to improve the student's overall skill. Students that dedicate the time and effort each week to practicing see rapid and sustained results.

I teach children as young as 13 years old and adults to the age of 70 years old. When teaching younger children and individuals with special needs, it is significantly beneficial for parents to attend each lesson - I have parent seating available. It is my grasp of foreign languages that makes me an effective English teacher. For instance, learning the complex grammar of Latin and Greek gave me a thorough understanding of English grammar and the ability to relate to other people’s native languages. I have spent many hours proofreading papers for international students. They find my instruction especially informative because I not only fix mistakes but provide an explanation. When I point out the patterns of grammar, similar mistakes show up less and less, and my students feel more confident that they are writing sentences correctly.

I learned English teaching methods through my tutoring experience. Over a span of four months, I gave a Turkish visiting scholar a systematic overview of English grammar and allowed him to apply it through conversation.

I performed different self-composed pieces at seven OSU Composers' Workshops and won the Audience Favorite Award at the Johnstone Woodwinds Composition Competition in 2012. My Senior Composition Recital was performed on October 25, 2012. It showcased several of my three-movement works: string quartet, clarinet solo, set of classical songs for piano and voice, set of pop songs for piano and voice. Interspersed with these were two solo piano pieces and a duet for piano and violin.

My background makes me a knowledgeable and effective tutor. I was valedictorian at Delaware Hayes High School in 2009 and received OSU's Maximus Scholarship based on my ACT and SAT scores.

I currently work as a remote mentor at Pyramind, a music production company in San Francisco.

My goal as a teacher is to unlock the creative potential within people. I believe that music education should empower the student to bring the contents of their imagination into full expression. Discipline and practice is only half the battle. You will learn all of the fundamentals of music theory, but the fun really begins when we start looking at your favorite songs and learning how to incorporate those ideas into your own creative process.

As a performing musician, I have fifteen years experience writing music for bands, studio recording, pressing cds and vinyl through record labels, touring nationally, writing and publishing two books on music theory, giving public talks for large audiences, and have been featured as interview guest on
several radio shows and podcasts.

Ezra is a great teacher, he breaks down complex music theory concepts and make them more digestible and fun. He's one of those rare intellectuals that is patient and empathic, which shows in his teaching style.
