Dr. D. B.
I hold a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum & Instruction. The focus of my dissertation was the impact of education on Latino students from a representative bureaucracy perspective, centered on determining to what extent Latino representation in governance influence Latino students’ graduation rates in public high school in two counties in New York. Accordingly, my research interests include teachers-as-researchers, examining ethnic identity, biculturalism, development of children of color, social and cultural theory, Latino and Afro-Latino studies, race and ethnicity (with a focus on Afro-descendants in and from Latin America), urban sociology, education policy, educational leadership, Culturally-Responsive Teaching, and transition to college initiatives.
Sessions include homework help, concept review, studying for tests, and honing skills as needed. I have years of tutoring experience and adapt my tutoring style to the student's learning style.
Learning is the way to go! Let's make learning fun and effective. I take many approaches to make sure my students learn wholesomely and flexibly in a way that allows them to apply what they learn beyond the lesson/exam/course. BA & MEd holder with k-12, undergraduate and graduate teaching experience.
