It is my grasp of foreign languages that makes me an effective English teacher. For instance, learning the complex grammar of Latin and Greek gave me a thorough understanding of English grammar and the ability to relate to other people’s native languages. I have spent many hours proofreading papers for international students. They find my instruction especially informative because I not only fix mistakes but provide an explanation. When I point out the patterns of grammar, similar mistakes show up less and less, and my students feel more confident that they are writing sentences correctly.

I learned English teaching methods through my tutoring experience. Over a span of four months, I gave a Turkish visiting scholar a systematic overview of English grammar and allowed him to apply it through conversation.

I need more English help because my accent is really strong. I practiced with Amanda for a month before my husband took me to meet his parents in the US. Now that I am home I am still practicing with her making more progress. I get a lot out of working with her, I get homework to keep prepared between lessons and that really helps me too. She's a really great teacher and I am never bored.

Amanda worked with me on my english speaking skills for 6 months. I had to travel but now that I am back I will start up again. She really gets to the center of whatever problem it is you have with your speaking. She is precise and knowledgeable about grammar she should teach in a classroom. I get a lot out of my sessions with her!

My son who is in 7th grade is working on a fiction writing dream of his with Amanda and having a blast. She is helping him develop a sci-fi fantasy short story into a novella. He has to read for a minimum of 30 minutes every single day to complete his homework he reads whatever the novel he has going at the time. She gives him other creative reading assignments to and he has to figure out how the author is giving him the feelings he is getting from the story. Jeremy really looks forward to these online sessions and he won't miss one for anything. He is become a great editor as well and in the process his writing in school is improving as they work on grammar and vocabulary all the time together. This lesson every week is a great investment and I am glad our son found Amanda
