I have over five years of experience teaching writing to all levels and special needs (children-adults). Students will have fun writing poems, short stories, and essays. My teaching goal is to increase students self esteem and confidence.
I started singing, playing piano, and composing music when I was seven years old. Throughout my musical career, I have performed and collaborated with various rock bands, classical trios, vocal ensembles, churches, and theater groups.
My Education includes Berklee College of Music, Academy of Art University, McNally Smith College of Music, MCTC, and Full Sail University (BS and AAS degrees in Music Performance, Sound Arts/sound Engineering, Music Production).

When you take lessons from me expect to be inspired and pushed. I thoroughly love teaching music and want the best for my students. I try my best to involve and invite students to join or listen to live music ensembles, recitals, and performances of different genres. I teach all styles of music for voice, piano, and guitar. I am very diligent with practicing, teaching you how to practice, and keeping track of it. In 3 or 6 months you will have a basic understanding of music theory and a solid foundation of piano, voice, or guitar techniques. I thrive to boost self esteem and confidence in all the students that I teach. I also teach composition, students really enjoy writing their own songs and performing them.

Music, and teaching have always been a big passion in my life. The ability to take knowledge of a subject that you have, and show, share, and shape someone and pass on that knowledge to them. It is an amazing feeling. I am a passionate, and caring instructor. My teaching style is encouraging, motivating, and educational. I fully believe that you can do anything you set your mind to, and I use that by showing my students that I believe in them.
I use a curriculum that was taught to me, and has been used in schools and universities. This curriculum fits all age groups and skill levels. Starting with Rock, moving to Funk, ending with Jazz.

It is my grasp of foreign languages that makes me an effective English teacher. For instance, learning the complex grammar of Latin and Greek gave me a thorough understanding of English grammar and the ability to relate to other people’s native languages. I have spent many hours proofreading papers for international students. They find my instruction especially informative because I not only fix mistakes but provide an explanation. When I point out the patterns of grammar, similar mistakes show up less and less, and my students feel more confident that they are writing sentences correctly.
I learned English teaching methods through my tutoring experience. Over a span of four months, I gave a Turkish visiting scholar a systematic overview of English grammar and allowed him to apply it through conversation.
Welcome to my studio, where I will instruct you in your musical and academic endeavors. What sets me apart is that I offer diverse instruction in two different areas. In my music studio, I give lessons in piano, violin, guitar, and composition. In my tutoring center, I specialize in Latin (learning from scratch and tutoring). I instruct students of all ages at different skill levels.

I performed different self-composed pieces at seven OSU Composers' Workshops and won the Audience Favorite Award at the Johnstone Woodwinds Composition Competition in 2012. My Senior Composition Recital was performed on October 25, 2012. It showcased several of my three-movement works: string quartet, clarinet solo, set of classical songs for piano and voice, set of pop songs for piano and voice. Interspersed with these were two solo piano pieces and a duet for piano and violin.
My background makes me a knowledgeable and effective tutor. I was valedictorian at Delaware Hayes High School in 2009 and received OSU's Maximus Scholarship based on my ACT and SAT scores.

As a former Journalism student, writing has been the number one way I learned to communicate both academically and professionally. It's important to be able to distill highly technical information into language anyone can read, and not only can read, but enjoys reading. I had three mentors in the past who helped hone my writing skills, and I love applying what I learned from them with my own students today.
All of my students, meaning a perfect 100%, have improved their grades by at least one letter grade, if not more, and passed every one of their tests and exams. I help ALL my clients reach their goals!
A couple years ago, I returned to San Diego after living in Peru for several years where I taught English as a second language. My students ranged from adult business people and academicians to primary and secondary school students. I really needed to utilize different teaching methods depending on each student’s needs. Some students wanted more business-related conversation, so I had to be able to teach business principles in marketing, communication,
The feedback I often received from my Peruvian students, as well as my students in Mexico and the U.S., was that I made learning an enjoyable experience—they wanted to work harder to advance quickly in their classes. All of my students agree that I have a lot of patience and turn even the most challenging lessons into ones of positivity and encouragement. I provide critical feedback in the most constructive of ways that help the students reach conclusions on their own. I enjoy being there to support and guide their experience!
Before I left for Peru, I worked at St Vincent de Paul Village (part of Father Joe's Villages) in downtown San Diego. There I focused on Health Education. I built the Villages' first Health Education department and helped start its innovative Health & Wellness program. As part of these two programs, I taught homeless and low-income adults with and without learning disabilities, as well as children from preschoolers to high school students. Teaching such a wide variety of students how to improve their health while living in sometimes precarious situations without much income or stability pushed me to think creatively and come up with memorable ways to engage the students and help them apply what they had learned in their daily routine.
In high school, I took all AP and college prep classes. I went to a liberal arts college in Virginia where I focused on social studies and biology. I spent a few years training business people in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, InDesign, as well as presentation techniques. In grad school, I specialized in applied anthropology and public health. During that time, I tutored students in web design. In between, I've worked in Communications and Training in international health and development, so I have a lot of experience to bring to teaching.
Basically, I love teaching. I'm enthusiastic yet patient, and I absolutely adore helping kids and adults alike learn. It's such a sense of accomplishment when my students show off their terrific grades. I see the same look in my students’ eyes regardless of age—that pride that shines from within, that exuberant smile, like they can conquer anything. I want my students to keep that pride for a long, long time.
Right now, I'm writing two textbooks to be used in my Spanish classes. I've also written several academic articles published online. I love traveling, cats, and learning!
