My background as a teaching-artist has provided the opportunity to work with numerous arts-education programs as a playwriting instructor and to develop a curriculum that can support various writing objectives. The focus of my online classes will introduce the importance of choosing a clear THEME, supported by a well structured PREMISE. Using skills and techniques borrowed from playwriting concepts, our ongoing classes will explore the importance of developing a clear narrative that communicates well-defined [character] objectives. These basic disciplines can be adapted to serve a range of writing needs: from essays to proposal presentations.

Marcia is an excellent tutor. This pandemic has really made things difficult for our family to keep our children on track with homeschooling. Marcia hit the ground running with our daughter who had become discouraged with all the work she had to do. Marcia was able to look briefly at the curriculum and come up with a plan to not only get our daughter back on track but motivated her to keep the momentum going. She has been a very positive light for our daughter. We truly appreciate her.

In 2013 and 2014, I took English classes with Marcia Albergo. Marcia was a very different kind of teacher. Unlike other teachers, she fostered a love for the language. She encouraged everyone in the classroom to reach their potential. Her method of teaching was also different than the other teachers I had. She used a variety of materials that not only helped us to learn English, but also encouraged our desire to learn. She covered a variety of topics and subjects that held the interest of the students in the classroom. Whether it was learning new words on each new page of a book or new expressions, I was challenged to learn the English language in a variety of ways. I believe she did a good job as a teacher because I was actually learning more than just English. I was learning things about the world that I never knew before. Thanks to her method of teaching, I have learned English well. Marcia was my favorite teacher.
Danute
I have take lessons from Marcia several years ago and highly recommend you take lessons from her as well. She helped improve my English greatly, because she is very professional teacher. Marcia always well organized and prepared. She use effective teachings methods. Gramma exercises, verbs conjugation, colloquialisms, expressions, discussions helps me become a fluent speaker.
She can connect to her students on multiple levels and give for them support. Marcia is very responsible and extremely helpful, she always answered in all my questions. Marcia is a great teacher and friend.
Thank you so much.

"Colin is a fabulous teacher. He worked with my children as they prepared for their AP Calculus exam a few years back, and we enlisted his tutorage as my son prepared for his Calculus 3 exam this year.
Colin knows his material. He is patient and ensures the student is keeping pace with him as he explains the methodology. He takes the time necessary to ensure the student knows the material and is able to follow the explanations. As anyone who has studied math knows, you can't rush the process. Each step is a crucial foundation for the next.
Thank you Colin!"

"Ms. Arlys is a great teacher! She always keeps me engaged and makes all lessons interesting and full of knowledge that I can learn. Additionally, she honed my persuasive speech skills, helping me project my voice, talk in the correct tone of voice, maintain eye contact with my audience, and flow when I speak. I have learned so much with Ms. Arlys and made leaps of improvement in my writing and verbal presentation. She always spends time to take notes for me and during our class so I can review them and understand the key points of each lesson Ms. Arlys has with me."

"I'm happy to say I found Colin for help with my calculus 1 class. I was doing okay from the beginning, but I felt like I was lacking the depth of understanding of some core algebra concepts and wanted to get solid on them before the class got more challenging (integration), as I was striving for an A in the class. Colin was a wizard at honing in on my weak points and he did an excellent job of really breaking things down and honestly, presenting concepts in more tangible ways than did any of my algebra teachers. I used the principles I learned from my sessions with Colin to get me through some challenging exam problems, and I'm proud to say that I ended up with a 97% in the class overall!"

Creative Writing: Not That Different from Academic Writing?

Think creative writing is all that different from writing a research paper in class? You might be surprised! Read on as New Milford, NJ tutor Matthew H. explains...   Creative writing tips seem to be counterintuitive; how can someone tell someone else how to be creative? The truth is that the secret to writing any good creative literature is not really that different from what you need for a really great academic paper: strong structure.
