My students experience organic language teaching techniques rooted in the vernacular use of English and conversation, and supported by solid grammar and mechanics study in the areas we identify you need it most. I diagnose the weak spots in your conversational English and we attack those with precision using a mix of reading, writing and exercises focused on the areas you need help with. I give homework each week and I make personal audio files for my students which they use every week to hone their pronunciation mastery.
My passion is English, English literature, writing (I am a published fiction author), and helping people acquire English through ESL instruction. I have students from Hong Kong to Houston and I love it! I also teach SAT and ACT verbal and essay writing sections and scored a perfect 6 on the essay for the GRE exam. I am a supportive and insightful writing coach and editor. I worked at the Paris Review just out of college in the editorial department and great works of English literature and non-fiction excite me profoundly. I have students now from middle school through to their 50's and I love them all.
I have a number of middle school kids working with me on creative writing currently as well.
I only teach online using Skype which is the easiest and most flexible way for me to work with my students from all over the world.
I work out of the EST time zone.

I am looking to tutor or teach in a variety of areas. I have a minor in Native American Studies, which is an interesting area of study for History.
I enjoy reading works of others, so if you need proofreading, or your stories read, or a writing intensive class, I would love to help you out.
My own course:
"Sociology and Buddhism in Prison". This is an interesting course to introduce you to two disciplines in one course, Sociology and Buddhism.
This is a writing course; you will need to write your thoughts and feelings about the materials provided for you. You do not need to regurgitate the material, but react to it. I am more interested in your thoughts and feelings around the subject, than memorizing materials for a test.
There will be videos, and suggested readings.
There are no tests.
Want a tutor with a personal touch I'm your gal I will allow you to guide the lessons and help me know what you want to learn

I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively and live abroad. From 2008 to 2018 I taught English at a university in Saudi Arabia, which was a wonderful experience. I've also traveled to Amman, Jordan and taught their for almost two years. Having lived in other countries, I understand the struggles associated with communicating in a foreign language.
As a teacher, I am friendly, patient, flexible and kind (and funny, I hope!), but I also care very much about my students' learning and I create lessons that are challenging but interesting, fun, and connected to the students' real lives and/or their specific goals. I also encourage students to talk as much as possible!
📝 WRITING LESSONS 📝
In addition to teaching, I’ve also taught writing for many years at the university & college levels. Strengthening your writing skills is empowering; it gives you the tools to be able to express yourself better. I love being able to help people do that.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you!
