I am a beginner, but because of Larry's different method of teaching music theory, it was easy for me to understand the fundamentals of music scales and consequently the origin of the chords and how they are formed. Larry goes the extra mile to make sure that you capture and understand the concepts.
Thank you!

Larry P has been an excellent starter piano teacher for my son. In 10 months my son is able to understand music and is on the road to being more confident in his ability to play the piano. Larry is patient and has a firm grasp on music concepts that he can easily transfer to any student who wants to learn.

About Noah
I am extremely passionate about both music and education, and it gives me great joy to be able to share excitement for and knowledge of music with my students. I have been studying violin since I was 4 years old and it has always been a central part of my life. I have a strong background in both music and education. I am conservatory trained having received a BFA in Violin Performance from Carnegie Mellon University with an additional major in Physics. I am comfortable teaching all levels from total beginners to advanced students playing Paganinni and major concertos. I have been teaching violin for 4 years, and I also have experience teaching Physics in public schools and a Masters in Education from TCNJ. I offer studio recitals twice a year for all my students, which are valuable opportunities for my students to experience performan
ce and share their music with each other. I enjoy music of all styles and in addition to classical music I play rock and jazz. I collaborate frequently with Trenton based rock artist Roy Orbitron.

For beginning students I start with Suzuki books until about book 5 and then begin to branch out into other repertoire. I also incorporate etudes by Dancla, Wohlfahrt, and Sevcik. I teach students to read music as well as basic theory and ear training. I also incorporate playing by ear and improvisation. These are important skills which help students develop into flexible and well rounded musicians.

I am happy to teach any piece in any style that the student wants to learn. Students do much better work and can learn much more when they are excited about the music they are playing. In addition, I can also help students prepare for auditions, competitions, or or to prepare orchestra music.

Noah has been teaching my 11 year old boys for almost two years. I initially chose him due to his proximity to my house. We have since moved, but we continue to travel 1.5 hrs round-trip to Princeton because of his patient and kind demeanor.

He also motivates his students by recognizing and praising their hard work and accomplishments no matter how big or small. I have seen my kids' skills improve drastically under his tutelage.

When Noah teaches, it is very obvious that he loves the violin and that he is eager to impart his love and knowledge of the violin to his students. He's an extremely gifted violinist and teacher.

Helped me out in a jam with my Shakespeare class at NJCU. Was able to meet up with him in the campus library. Helped me understand King Lear so well that when it came to writing my essay on it, I didn't really need his help, save for some basic proofreading. Highly recommended.

I was a stubborn student, but Keith helped me explore different ways to think about chords and picking styles. It definitely helped in regards to my development as a guitar player and song writer and I am happy to have had him as my instructor! :-)

My 5 year old started with Keith while he was working at Jaime's Music in Bayonne. I've had nothing but a great experience with him. I was apprehensive at first, as I was told by other teachers that five was too young, but Keith helped us find the right guitar for him. My son is seven now, and although Keith isn't his teacher anymore, he's made a lasting impression. I even learned a little guitar, too!

Hi there. I'm an Honors student going into my 3rd year of college. I always get positive feedback on papers and essays I write--a lot of professors seem surprised to receive quality work from a college student. I graduated in the top 10% of my high school class. I have a really good understanding of what makes a good student writer, and I can help you get significantly better at it in a short time if you want to--no matter what your current skill level or goals are. I'm happy to work with you and challenge you to get to where you want to be. Writing is a skill. I can help you make some headway.

About Timothy
Hi, I'm Tim! From the beginning of high school to where I am now as a honors college student studying Business and Information Systems, I came to the conclusion (for myself, at least) that the most effective way of learning any subject is to teach that subject. During high school, I tutored a variety of subjects (AP math courses, AP English courses, AP science courses, AP social studies courses) while taking the courses simultaneously. In my school district of Edison, New Jersey, many high school teachers privately tutored the subjects they taught in school. Around 20+ students in my year were admitted to Ivy League schools. It was in this school district that I outperformed these high school teachers by the number of students that I tutored on a weekly basis--to a typical teacher's 4-5 students a week, I would tutor 7-8. Of over 50 stude
nts that I have tutored in the past 6 years, less than 5 did not receive an "A-" grade or higher in the course they asked me to tutor. Some of the students I tutored started out in the "F" to "C-" grade range at the beginning of the semester. Some of the students I tutored went on to get accepted at Ivy League schools. I mainly tutor high school and college students.

The most important reason for my success is that I teach students how to teach themselves. Self-studying is one of the most important skills in life--it is imperative in pursuing any education because you can't always rely on having a good instructor to teach the material. What sets good students apart from the rest of the pack is the ability to self study. Why? Because no matter the type of instructor, self-studying works independently of them. If you do not depend on your instructor to do well in class but instead use them as a supplement to your preliminary understanding, you are bound to do very well.

Teaching is very much a form of learning. Whenever I teach someone something, I learn a little more about myself, and it's a feeling that I enjoy very dearly. It's because of this feeling that the pleasure of learning is something I want to share with everyone.

About Melinda
Melinda has the ability to transform her professional acumen to help student develop reading comprehension skills and strategies that will allow them to stay engaged and think about what they are reading. She is an IT Professional with 25 years of experience, specializing in reading and writing technical Business Requirements to develop computer programs for many clients. Though Melinda has an IT background, she has worked in the educational arena as a technical writer for the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE).

ETS develops and administers the SAT, the Advance Placement Program, and other programs on behalf of the College Board. While at ETS, Melinda was instrumental in writing Business Requirements for the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) Mobile Application listenin
g and reading tests. These tests set the standard for assessing English-language listening and reading skills needed in the workplace.

The NJDOE initiated the New Jersey No Child Left Behind (NJNCLB) initiative. This program significantly changed the schools’ role in K-12 education by focusing on success as measured by student achievement of all students including English-language learners, students in special education, and poor and minority children, whose achievement, on average, trails their peers. Melinda was instrumental in writing Business Requirements and standards for the NJNCLB Program.

She has also worked in the Telecom and Financial industries writing Business Requirements. I taught Sunday School for many years to elementary, middle and high school students. Melinda's background enables her to teach students the many building blocks of effective reading as well as how to comprehend reading assignments. As you know, comprehension ensures students are acquiring knowledge from the texts they are reading. This will allow them to evaluate and discuss ideas, events, and information about the text; apply and extend these ideas to real life situations; apply and extend these ideas to other texts; determine and remember the most important points in the text; and read "between the lines" to understand underlying meanings.

Melinda's passion is to see her students excel in reading. I firmly believe that reading is essential to unlocking potential and shaping minds. She wants her students to reach their reading aspirations while having a great time. Melinda looks forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better reader. Send me a message and let’s get started!
