Hello prospective students! I have five years experience as a middle school English teacher. Why work with me? I push my students to do their best while still being patient and making a connection. I have been tutoring in subjects of English, math, social studies, and science for middle school and elementary school for about 10 years. In the summer, I offer one-on-one and group sessions for Catholic High School Entrance Exams. In this, I teach test-taking strategies and practice sample questions to strengthen the students' skills. I am technology proficient and therefore, utilize many resources in order to be the best teacher I can be. My schedule is flexible and I have transportation if needed. Looking forward to working with you!

I have a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics with a minor in Psychology. I graduated summa cum laude. I also have special teaching licenses in TEFL and TESOL. I have been tutoring for 15+ years all grade levels and subjects, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies, and Language Arts. In my experience, no two students are alike, and I'm able to identify unique needs, to help each student progress. Students find me patient, kind and fun to work with. Regarding ESL tutoring, I have a deep understanding of the science and research behind the way English as a second language is learned. I also train teachers on state-adopted ESL materials, so I have access to great resources. I love technology and enjoy using it as a tool for my work. I'm flexible and can adapt to the way each individual student learns best.

Jennifer tutored my daughter for the ACT. The results were nothing short of spectacular. Jennifer is incredibly smart, has a lovely disposition with parents and students, is prompt and communicative, and most importantly, clearly knows what she is doing. She is strategic in every aspect of her tutoring for the ACT, which is exactly what we needed and what hooked my daughter into the plan. She never complained about the tutoring sessions -- she saw the value immediately. Result: 7 point composite increase with 6-8 point improvement in every test area! To give you context to determine how your own student might fare, my daughter is highly intelligent, takes every AP class she can, and is very "coachable," so she started the tutoring with a lot of potential. However, she was not into studying for the test at all (SAT, same thing) and generally performs below her ability on standardized tests due to text anxiety. When push came to shove, she saw that her scores were below what she needed for her first choice college. With only three weeks to study before her last chance to improve her scores, she began to work with Jennifer. Jennifer tutored my daughter for a total of about 18 hours and gave her practice assignments. She zeroed in strategically on the types of questions that were the most problematic for her and explained, for example, that if she had just known a certain skill, she would have gotten 8 questions correct and thereby improved her score by 3 points (numbers estimated from memory). That approach drew my daughter in right away and it worked! I highly recommend Jennifer. She was worth every minute and every penny.
Jennifer consistently shows up for our daughter's online sessions with a bright, warm smile that immediately puts our daughter's nerves at ease. Jennifer patiently and skillfully untangled the complicated problems that had befuddled our daughter, and replaced her insecurity with clarity and confidence! Jennifer tamed the big "Math monster", replacing it with a manageable "math puppy"! Over the last 6 months, Jennifer was able to explain and demystify difficult math concepts, increasing our daughter's confidence and competence with every session! Before beginning sessions with Jennifer, our daughter had set the bar low, wishing only to "pass" her math classes with an acceptable grade, in order to complete her college career. However, by week eight of tutoring, with soaring confidence and new-found math proficiency, our daughter not only passed her final summer math class, but earned an "A" , finishing at the TOP of her class! This would not have been possible without the extraordinary skillfulness, expert teaching abilities and patience that Jennifer brings in her masterful "tool chest." She speaks the "language of math" in a way that crystallizes its concepts for her students! She is an extraordinary teacher and an absolute gift to her students!!
Jennifer has been tutoring our daughter for over 2 years in ESL. Our daughter loves Jennifer, she is very knowledgeable, straight to the point, very clear with her explanations, and helps her a lot with grasping some concepts that are unclear for her. Jennifer is always willing to accommodate my schedule and willing to make extra time for my daughter when she needed it. She’s very patient and truly wants her students to succeed! My only regret is that we had not found Jennifer earlier!

Writing remains one of the most important skills everyone needs to succeed in life. I have worked as a professional writer for more than 10 years, with experience as a script writer, copywriter, blogger, and reviewer. Resume writing, cover letters, personal statements, web text, radio ads, and advertisement are my specialties. Additionally, 7 of my scripts to date have been produced as short documentary films and released on DVD. Since writing improvement is a long-term process, I coach how to brainstorm and create an outline for any assignment; balance sentence structure, word usage and conventions to form articulate paragraphs with transitions; practice self-editing; and correctly follow the format of academic writing at any grade level, especially for essays. I mainly use interactive tools and resources to assist students in elementary school, middle school, and high school. For college and university students, I work with them through regular critiques and feedback to help them ...
