I teach all kinds of acting, and have for over 40 years, but I specialize in stage acting, on-camera acting, acting for the face, voice acting, comedic acting, physical acting, improv, script analysis, monologues, audition prep, audition videos and voice over auditions.

In Theatre Acting, we'll explore acting for the stage, and how best to use the four tools, Voice, Face, Body, and Mind, for performance in front of a live audience.

We'll study gesture, vocal expressiveness, movement, face acting, and physical acting for the stage.

We'll study representational theatre and presentational theatre, how they differ, and how to perform in each.

About Dennis

A professional director, producer, actor, writer, improvisation artist, and musician, Mr. J. has headed entertainment production companies as executive director and artistic director, co-creating original interactive events. Mr. J.studied dance with Martha Graham, Jose Limon, Carlton Johnson, Paul

Dennis has been a mentor and friend now for nearly 20 years. He is a knowledgeable and passionate advocate for the arts who gives his all to each student. Working with him is always challenging and fun.

Dennis Johnson is extremely passionate and knowledgable about every topic relating to acting and voiceovers. His classes are friendly, warm, funny, inviting and are always very positive. Although his classes may be challenging, he focusses on preparing his students for the real world and is passionate about putting his student's best foot forward. A few things he covers in classes are improvisation, analyzing monologues and analyzing film. He is reliable and flexible with busy schedules and makes an effort to teach life lessons as well. I feel extremely lucky to have found him and to have access to his classes and film and voice over editing skills. He is a gem.
Christine
Working with Dennis has been incredibly beneficial to my growth as an actor. His ability to dissect a scene, work through the nuances of the character, and the sub-text and communicate this on camera with techniques that set you above the amateur actor, has helped me tremendously and opened up not only opportunities but my confidence as well. Dennis approaches the actor as a whole and understands there are parts to this whole and each part—the body, the speech, the mind—is just as important as the next. I wouldn't be the actor I am today if it weren't for Dennis.

Monica is the best!! She was so kind and helpful, she wasn’t hesitant on giving back helpful feedback. Her communication was amazing!! She sent several videos on how to improve jumps and extra tips for cheerleading. She has a very positive attitude and high energy which makes lessons 10x better and fun. We both saw major improvements just 5-10 minutes in. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

In addition to the exercises mentioned in the singing section, we will work specifically on diction and dialect neutralization for teachers, professional public speakers, voice-over artists, actors, and politicians. I aim toward Standard American Speech, but I encourage you to keep your natural dialect and focus on clear articulation, supported vocal production, and effective breath and speech patterns.

My son loves his drum lessons. Being eight, he naturally has an excess amount of energy and a tendency to chat but Joe has a way of engaging him and keeps him learning. Very positive and supportive as well.

Vocal problems can manifest in the most experienced of singers or even speakers. I can help with public speaking, speaking for long periods of time, or vocal health problems (nodes, nodules, etc.).

About Laura

Music is the universal language, and there isn't a genre I don't love; it's important to me that that aspect be brought to lessons, as well! From humble New Jersey beginnings to an opera career, I've seen the power of what music can do! Whether it's opera, musical theater, folk, rock, or just pu

Gfire was amazing. In this very difficult year, Gfire's lessons gave my daughter an opportunity to continue with an activity that was safe and engaging. My daughter looked forward to her lesson every week. Gfire was fantastic at communicating with us and problem solving any tech issues that arose. She definitely did everything possible to provide the best possible lesson for my daughter. Thank you so much!!!!

"When I first began my search for an acting coach I was stressed out because I knew I needed help but I didn't know how to start. Luckily I found the Director, Omar. The Director began by interviewing me to see what my goals and potential were. He then developed a specific lesson plan designed around what he called "The Fundamentals" and I progressed since then. Now after a few months of the Directors support, I know confidently that I am an Actor. I learned things about human behavior and method acting that I couldn't find in any video or online source. The Director somehow made things simple to understand and I'm glad for it. I am not done with the lessons, but since he has supported me and shared his knowledge, the least I can do is share my experience. Thank you Director!"

"To be honest I've never acted a day in my life before. Tamika was absolutely wonderful in helping me calm my (obvuously) nervous self, and worked with what I naturally brought to the stage and highlighted my own attributes. By the time I had opening night, I felt more comfortable than presenting to a bunch of investors (which is my day job). Thank you again Tamika, for really helping me develop skills and traits for the acting stage even I didn't know I had in me! I loom forward to working with you again soon!"

Top 5 Wildest Method Acting Techniques in Hollywood History

If you've ever watched an actor disappear into their role, shedding genuine tears or adopting mannerisms that aren't their own, then you've seen method acting techniques in action.
