Rene is incredibly knowledgeable but that doesn’t prevent him from breaking down the basics to help me as a beginning singer.

He’s very informative, explaining the why and the how, and doing so in a way that’s easy to understand. It’s helping me establish the foundations of musicality while working on the physicality of developing my muscles, mind and body, to be successful with this new skill.

Aside from the art/skill of singing, Rene has been patient and flexible with my nomadic lifestyle, which can be susceptible to weather, connectivity, and a myriad of other disruptions. I don’t wish him another student in my circumstances, but he’s been willing to work with mine!

Rene is a great guitar player and a great teacher! He has an incredible ability of assessing where you are currently at in your guitar journey and using that’s information to determine what lessons/knowledge you need in order to achieve your music goals.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Classical guitar performance from Roosevelt University where I have studied under Classical Guitarist Denis Azabagic. I have a great knowledge of the instrument and I also know music theory. However, what I would like to do differently than most classically trained teachers and classical musicians is to be able to provide my students with the skill to be able to learn to play anything they would like from the heart, rather than simply hiding behind theory and a piece of sheet music.

My courses will help students explore all technical possibilities based on the classical guitar that they will be able to transfer to other types of guitars, as well as the ability to break down a song/piece of music to truly understand how it works and how to play it.

Rather than focusing on creating a great classical guitarist, I want to help develop a well rounded musician that would be able to play anything they like by ear, write their own songs, and have good ...

Extremely unprofessional to abruptly cancel scheduled/paid lessons without the courtesy of a message or any notice because this instructor was unhappy with a 12-year-old child's progress. Very surprised by and disappointed in the manner in which he handled this situation, certainly could have been handled with more respect and maturity.

I have always been something of a mathematician at heart, and I believe in teaching students to apply that sort of methodical critical thinking to all aspects of music. I believe that music education should be goal-oriented, but that there are certain aspects of music that are fundamental whether the student wants to play funk, modern extreme metal, or to write the next atonal masterpiece. To this end, I always meet my students where they are and focus on where they want to go, addressing these fundamentals in a way that will be engaging for all.

I encourage students to delve into theory and technique deeply enough that they shift from being sets of rules to being a framework and a tool that can be used (and abused) as needed, and I seek to help my students build the mental and physical roadmaps that they need to achieve this goal.

I also teach lessons specifically designed to help students build confidence and understanding on extended range guitars.

"Beyond expectations

From our first phone call, Gina became invested in my dance journey. From modern dance, to ballet and contemporary, Gina has guided me into a new world of performance and dance. Outside of our scheduled lessons, we are loosely collaborating on a creative project - something I thought was years away until I met Gina. She taught me tactical dance fundamentals while also helping me navigate the dance and theater scene in NYC. (with which she is very connected) The best thing for me was her flexibility with the learning process. She encourages everyone to make their own journey, never forcing too much structure but always being reliable. I look forward to continuing this journey. Thank you!"

"Robert hired me while I was in college and I worked for him for three summers in a row. Not only did I get to watch him teach and inspire a wide age range of students day after day, but I got to learn from him myself. Robert has the kind of passion for theater that carries into whatever he's doing. You can see it in his teaching, you see it in his mentoring, and you see it when he watches his students perform. Robert knows exactly how to talk to a student, in a way that is both compassionate and honest. He has an incredible talent for getting the people around him to be excited about their craft and driven to work hard. One of the things I most enjoyed about learning from him, is that he doesn't sugar coat things. He tells you exactly what it is you need to work on but he does it from the perspective of someone who supports you and believes in you fully. I'm grateful for the theater experience he gave me years ago and I credit him for much of my success today."

"This was my first time modeling in a show, and my overall experience was great. Tamika provided great feedback regarding walking, using modeling stance, posing, and how to have fun and interact with the audience. She chose awesome people to walk for her in the show, and we all got along really well. Tamika communicated professionally and respectfully to her models. She also provided all of the clothing for the show which was great because I did not have to come out of pocket to get additional clothing. I would suggest that she get an assistant to help her on the day of the show."

He's teaching me some of Michael Jackson's dance choreographies and the way he teaches makes them super simple to learn. He really takes the time to break down every move, making the steps really easy to follow. He is also very patient, gives good feedback to reflect upon, and is just always in a great mood!
