I currently tutor and provide homework help to students in grades K-8.
I enjoy writing, and have an excellent understanding of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, vocabulary, and writing style.
I also understand and am sympathetic to the various difficulties that students may experience with writing. I am patient, always willing to listen and answer questions, and always eager to help each student express him/herself well in writing.

About Linda
*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec
tronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.
Banjo: I teach bluegrass, country, and some blues and rock music. I can also teach a bit of old-timey frailing/clawhammer style.
English and Reading: I am highly qualified, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.
*** I am particularly good at working with children who have a.d.h.d. and other learning disabilities!

About Diza
My passions are teaching, helping people and Architectural Technology. I have wanted to teach new skills to willing students since I was in high school, which is why I have been doing my best to get work which exercises that desire. I moved to new york in 2006 to study Architectural Technology, and before that I studied and graduated from kindergarten to high school in french, which is why I love teaching french. Even though french is my favorite subject I will be equally as happy teaching any other subject on my list.

I have an Associate in Graphic Design and Architectural Technology, I am going to be receiving a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology in June 2015 from CUNY'S NYC College of Technology, so I can continue towards seeking a Master's degree in the same field.

I try to make learning and teaching fun and interest
ing to keep my students interested, I hope you choose me for a fun learning adventure.

Thank you for reading,

Hadiza

Diza is very patient with my 7 year old and has been a great addition to our current French instruction. As a native French speaker, she is very knowledgeable and is also able to offer suggestions to improve our lessons, both in and away from tutoring.

Evidence of my writing is all over my profile. Feel free to peruse the many subject descriptions I've written myself for my profile on takelessons.com to get an idea of the clarity and effectiveness of my writing!

About Kevin
Clarity and expression come to us in different forms and are meant to be used to interpret all the many sources of inspiration which surround us, from the benign and painful to the sublime and beautiful. Teaching my students to tap into their personal creativity and inventive methods will enable them to utilize their instrumental techniques in a way which is invigorating and communicative. With this, I hope to foster lifelong musicians who can use their inventiveness to surmount any and all of life's many challenges.

Kevin has been giving lessons at our apartment to help my 13-year old daughter prepare for upcoming trombone auditions. I like how challenging and supportive Kevin is during his lessons; my daughter thinks he's terrific fun too. As a parent, it has been easy to communicate with Kevin, he's extremely professional, personable, direct and honest. I strongly recommend him for any trombone student.

Kevin is a true musician who not only teaches children how to play an instrument, but also how to respect the instrument and the music. He worked with my 11 year old son who liked playing the trombone and opened a door into a whole new found love of playing. He is extremely engaging, patient and offers constructive help when necessary plus his love of music is clear in his instruction. I would highly recommend his services.

Is your child is struggling to grasp key concepts in his or her language arts class? Are you a student working on a large-scale term paper, or preparing for the SAT or AP exams? Or a high schooler looking to build the best college acceptance essay possible? Whatever your or your child's age or grade level, I will provide the instruction needed to accomplish your or your child's academic goals. I make writing fun and productive by setting challenging yet realistic goals and providing engaging lesson plans that will drive the student to be attentive and engaged. My lessons go beyond simply explaining the rules of grammar and sentence structure, but truly teaching each student how to proactively apply the concepts of language arts to daily life to fully absorb the subject matter and create a foundation to build upon in the years to come. My goal is to unlock each student's unique writer's voice and give him or her the confidence and technique to tackle any writing assignment, from ...

At the end of the day, I am both a writer and teacher. I can help you create powerful pieces of content, for every need that may arise. Whether academic, professional, or personal-- effective writing is critical.

About Uzma
I achieved my Juris Doctor at California Western School of Law in April of 2016, but a traditional law career is not one that I envision for myself. I want a career that is meaningful, gives me purpose, and has a positive effect on other people's lives. Prior to law school, I honed my writing and editing skills and worked full-time as a certified teacher. I worked on creating school curriculums for school districts in the United States. The more work I do, the more solidified my goal to help anyone in whatever capacity I can.

My past students are from different corners of the world, age groups, generations, and lifestyles. It was a pleasure helping them navigate the complex rules of the English language.

In my free time, I enjoy creative writing, journalism, and yoga. My poems have been published in books, my news articles published b
y various news outlets.

I want to live a life that shares my skills with others. I know I am lucky to have such a strong language background, and I firmly believe I am meant to share this with others.

Let me know what your language goals are, and I can create a specific curriculum to make sure you achieve those goals.

I have enjoyed writing since I was young, and have experience writing many different styles (including essays, creative writing, etc.). I am studying elementary education, and have taken classes in how to teach writing. In this class, I learned how to teach a variety of genres (fictional story, poetry, persuasive essay, research report, and more). Along with this class, at my student-teaching placement, I lead small-group instruction with five students, where I taught them to write fantasy stories. I use published texts as models for students to base their writing off of. I try to tailor lessons to students interests, to allow them to be actively engaged in the lessons.

About Sarah
I am studying to become an elementary-school teacher at Boston College. I have been working with kids through after-school programs, internships, and student-teaching placements. At these placements, I have taught students individually, in small groups, and as a whole class in a wide variety of subjects (reading, writing, math, and social studies).

Students can expect to have lessons tailored to their needs, interests, and learning styles. I try to include as many hands-on activities to increase engagement, as well as make the content relatable to students' interests. I feel that this helps with motivation to learn, as well as the amount of information that they learn.

I have a passion for teaching and helping students grow and learn. I love seeing a concept make sense to a student, their "ah-ha" moments. I look forward to helpi
ng you with your tutoring needs!
