Physics lessons with me are unique because I have an extensive background in physics, which allows me to explain concepts in both abstract and concrete ways to match the needs of the student. In the year since I graduated from Boston College with a degree in physics and moved to Florida, I have tutored 2 students in college level physics and 1 high school AP physics student. Teaching physics is a challenge because the content is not concrete or straightforward. The questions are vague, abstract, and often puzzles for the student to solve. Therefore tutoring physics is not about showing the students equations or step by step processes because even for 2 problems of the same type, the steps will not be the same; rather, is about teaching the students how to think abstractly in order to accomplish these tasks themselves, rather than dissect each question for them. My lessons may involve some silence, head scratching, and erasing at times when I am pushing the students to think for ...

My name is Mena. I have a strong background in math with a degree in Actuarial science and have been tutoring the SAT, ACT, Algebra 1&2, and Geometry for over four years. I have extensive knowledge of the testing strategies needed to make the exam fun and easy. I work with students to find areas that need strengthening then work patiently with them to hone their skills. Successful test preparation is largely about demystifying the test through time spent learning the correct approach which I have years of experience doing, with that confidence students can achieve any score they set their minds to.

We like Mena’s Style of teaching. He has a way to get my 16-yr-old son to study and do extra math work daily. He goes through the lessons to prep my son for the school work and also get him to do the SAT prep. He has a lot of knowledge and tricks on the SAT that are very helpful. We do a weekly class with Mena is the past 6 months and will continue through high school.

Math has always been my favorite subject. I'm fascinated with its necessity found everywhere in nature. I've been teaching for about three years now. I focus on the ability to read and write math as a language. This is what bridges the gap between memorizing math and understanding math. Being a student myself I've noticed a lot of teachers fail to take this approach in the classrooms, leaving math to become a tamed subject with nothing more than a bunch of seemingly random steps. However, this couldn't be further from the truth! My lessons will boost your understanding of math in a way that makes you excited to keep learning more!

Speech is about creating clarity in your use of language. It isn't necessarily about getting "rid" of an accent (unless you really want to for tv broadcasting or a role).

Public speaking is about communicating clearly, storytelling, honesty and persuasion.

I can help with both. :-)

"I has reached out Rod at the point in which I resigned and I was expecting to get "B" in my statistics class. I was not confident and constantly struggled in responding to the test questions because I was not sure of concepts. Rod explained me concepts step by step in a very simple way also, by drawing the graphs and that everything was clear for me as visual person. He was able to answered and explained all my questions that I was well prepared and confident on my final exam. Thanks to him I gained the necessary knowledge and I ended with "A"."
