About Tamari (Tamara)
Hi, there! I'm Tamara and I can't wait to meet you!

On social media and for those who are more familiar, I'm Tamari. We all learn in different ways; some are more visual; others, auditory; some, kinesthetic--I combine a number of different modalities in my teaching, including direct feedback-teaching--once you learn a concept or skill, teach it, as soon as you possibly can, to someone else! -- this reinforces your own knowledge of the skill or concept!
I've been teaching private lessons for many years and have loved helping my students acquire new skills, master new pieces, and prepare for concerts and performances. Over the years, my younger students have earned Blue and Gold ratings at the Young Musicians' Festival in Fairfield U., some of them earning gold cups: This is a statewide event to encourage long-term commitment
to the art, discipline and joy of music making.
I attended Indiana University's distinguished Jacob School of Music where I earned a Masters in Piano Performance, and Composition in the '90's. I sang all types of vocal music as well as prepared singers with vocal coaching and voice development techniques 20+ years.
I'm fun loving, patient, and optimistic-- these traits carry through in my teaching style,
One Size does NOT fit all--I approach the lesson plans for each student tailored to your learning style.
Over the past 23 years, my life experiences have encompassed other disciplines and compelled me to learn and acquire many other skills: my liberal arts as well as fine arts education lent itself to helping me work administrative jobs and even expanded into sales and public speaking. I have coached after school and SAT preparation to High School and College age students, helped with the preparation of legal and analytical documents, creative writing and editing assignments; and even tutored computer, social media and Microsoft Office & iWork Suite of applications to older adults. Within the 10 most recent years, I served as Music Director in Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran Churches, as it is my firm conviction that Music is a universal language which can help deepen the prayer experience while helping to bring comfort and joy.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals

I have known Tamari professionally for fifteen years.
She is an excellent music teacher for piano and voice. Her expertise is noticeable as she patiently meets her student at his/her level and guides that student to the next step.
The process is perfect for any student, even if developmentally challenged and for any age. I highly recommend Tamari.

I've been consistent weekly taking yoga lessons from Tamari at the Y in Canaan CT. I try not to miss it. She's a compassionate and caring yoga teacher and will trailer her classes to fit your needs. Her classes are good for newbies and seniors and those who want a simple class. No athletics. Hatha Yoga are basic yoga stretches that will make you feel good after participating . My aches and pains are gone after each session. To be continued....

Tamara is a very highly qualified, and extremely capable musician and instructor. While away on a leave from my position as music director at a local church, Tamara planned and provided the music for services, and led the congregation's music programs in my absence. While I was away, it was a great comfort to know that Tamara provided quality music for each service. In addition to demonstrating an extraordinary level of musicianship, Tamara is a dependable, and dedicated professional. I am pleased to provide my strongest recommendation!

I enjoy teaching in a dynamic FUN Immersion Method (songs, stories, games). I worked two years in a preschool because I love teaching kids using all my communication skills.

About Marie
Indulge yourself by learning languages. It opens your prospect to a new different world with a different culture, you feel like you gain a new person and a new experience while networking with new people around you. I personally admire languages and would like to share this passion with you. I invite you to start expanding your horizon by choosing a new language.
I came recently to U.S. and I was tutoring languages "Arabic, French and English" back in my country. I hope to build a good reputation here too with my students. I'm so patient toward kids, and I like to innovate methods to engage early learners (songs, stories, games...). My only goal is to reach your needs and desire to learn then proceed from there in a fun immersion method.

Marie is an effective, patient, and kind teacher. I had been studying Arabic for years with different teachers and had not seen much improvement. I had gotten very comfortable with the alphabet, but that was all my teachers seemed to focus on. When I started working with Marie, however, I very quickly made significant progress. She helped me build a foundation of vocabulary that I actually cared to learn so the grammar could flow more easily. I would highly recommend Marie to anyone wanting to learn Arabic (or French for that matter!).

About Alia
Hello! My name is Alia and I'm an English teacher from San Diego, CA. I have been teaching English and writing for over than 10 years.

I offer English/ESL and writing lessons.I teach all levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.
I’ve been teaching ESL (English as a second language) for 10 years now. I have a Bachelor degree in English Language & Translation, and TEFL (TEFL = Teaching English as a foreign language ). I am a n IELTS Band : 7 certified teacher.

I have taught many different subjects, including speaking, pronunciation, grammar, business English, academic writing, and more. I've also taught beginners through very advanced English learners, as well as a range of ages, from kids to adults (although mostly teenagers and adults).

I enjoy teaching everything, but especially grammar, so if you need help with grammar, I am her
e for you! 🤓

I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively and live abroad. From 2008 to 2018 I taught English at a university in Saudi Arabia, which was a wonderful experience. I've also traveled to Amman, Jordan and taught their for almost two years. Having lived in other countries, I understand the struggles associated with communicating in a foreign language.

As a teacher, I am friendly, patient, flexible and kind (and funny, I hope!), but I also care very much about my students' learning and I create lessons that are challenging but interesting, fun, and connected to the students' real lives and/or their specific goals. I also encourage students to talk as much as possible!

đź“ť WRITING LESSONS đź“ť

In addition to teaching, I’ve also taught writing for many years at the university & college levels. Strengthening your writing skills is empowering; it gives you the tools to be able to express yourself better. I love being able to help people do that.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you!

Hi,

So why choose me? Well:

1) I'm was born in Russia, came to Canada when i was 14. To the french part of Canada. So I learned French first (on an OK level). Then, my parents decided to move to the English part of Canada where nobody spoke French or Russian so i had to learn English from zero. I had a friend who helped me practice with him and i know how helpful it can be! I finished high school, went to university, worked in a few places, now have a business, so i know English very well. I also know what it feels like not to know English at all! So i think i can really help a person out. I was in ESL myself too for 2 years! I know what works and i know what doesn't. You'll love our lessons!

2) So my grandma came from Russia and decided to start learning English at 75 years old! My parents signed her up for classes. I visit 2 times a week and we do her homework together. Did you ever teach an old person how to use the internet? Imagine teaching them a new language! So i promise ...

About Igor
Hi again,

(by the way, i'm writing this assuming addressing the person that i will work with, if you're a parent or somebody else reading this, please imagine you were the one that needs this service).

So in the previous section i think i described myself pretty thoroughly. I will use this section to let you know what you can expect from me, so you have a better idea of who i am and what i can do for you.

I will focus on YOUR needs

What does that mean? I remember when i was learning English and they were teaching me a lot of irrelevant stuff. I learned things like: " Sally likes apples and Bob likes cakes" It's all nice, but what i really wanted to know was what to say to a teacher when i want to go to the washroom. But nobody ever asked me what i want to learn, they just told me what i should learn. And that's fine, there is a plac
e for practicing things like "Sally likes apples", but if you have an area where you want to improve in. Tell me and we'll practice. We can roleplay! I will ask you questions and you will try to answer as best you can and i will correct you. I will talk with you in English like i would talk to a friend (like my friend did to me when i was learning English) and you will pick it up much faster! I will go as slow or as fast as you can handle. You can tell me about your day. Or ask questions. We will try a few things and find what works for you!

I am a fan of compound learning.

What does that mean? Here is an example! We can learn what the words: apple. Juice. I. Want. are individually. ORRRR we can learn a sentence of: I want apple juice. Instead of trying to make your brain remember 4 objects separately, you will only have to remember 1 object that contains all of those smaller objects. That speeds up learning a lot. Of course, it depends on your level. And we will start with the very basic stuff. But as soon as you get the basics, we will move on to this. And before you know it, you will start speaking in complete sentences. And once you speak, you will read, write and be on your way to think in English.

I will be patient with you!

I will go at the speed that you can handle. There will be homework too!

5 Tasks of The Daily Five
1. Read to Self
2. Read to Someone
3. Work on Writing
4. Listen to Reading
5. Word Work

I like to incorporate discussion questions with this process so that the student has opportunities to talk. We can learn about different topics that you are interested in.

About Michael
I'm a High School ESL Teacher in the country of China. I'm an introverted individual but when I teach I am much more social and talkative. I recently took a personality inventory called Clifton Strengths and I will share with you what my strengths were on this test.

Responsibility- The way I approach responsibility is by the belief that it is my responsibility to help a student learn English. Techniques I use to enable this are reviewing what we went over from previous lessons to make sure a student is learning the material well.

Developer-The way I approach this is by setting a goal and getting my student to accomplish that goal by using different techniques I have learned through out my teaching career. AS technique I have used in the past is something called Test Teach Test.

Empathy
Listening is one of my better skills. I think
it is important to listen to people and it requires effort to do. By listening to the feelings of others, I become clearer and less conflicted. My empathy leads me to listen to the message of the person but also having care for the person who is talking also. Everybody deserves to be listened to.

Intellection

I like to I share ideas and pose questions. Learning new things is very important to me and posing questions to people and sharing ideas is a fun environment to be in for me and it is in this environment when I learn things well.

Deliberative
I like roles where I can research and analyze information. I have a way of thinking that enables me to analyze information well. I like to analyze subjects related to the social sciences but I’m also good at analyzing educational practices and strategies to see if students are learning or if they are not learning.

The teaching strategy or process I like to use is called differentiated instruction and I do this by using a process called the Daily 5. The Daily 5 is a series of tasks that students must complete on a daily basis. They must read to themselves, read to someone else, listen to reading, work on writing, and do word work. This process makes the process of learning repetitive and easier which I think is important when learning a second language.
