I coached middle school students in academic mathematics competitions, such as the AMC 8/10 and Mathcounts, during the 2010-2011 academic school year at American Indian Public Charter School. My students received multiple awards during my first year as a math coach.
I also have experience tutoring AP and Honors courses in the social sciences and English. My students have achieved high scores on their end-of-year exams.
I worked as a tour guide at my alma mater's admissions office (Claremont McKenna College). Moreover, I have experience reviewing personal statements and resumes for college applications. Should you have any questions about the college admissions process, please don't hesitate to let me know.
As your teacher, I am committed to serving your needs according to your learning style as we embark on this new academic journey.

I've been teaching PSAT preparation for 10 years and my students have increased their PSAT scores over 500 points from their initial scores.
I create a personalized daily syllabus that caters to each student's individual strengths and weakness, and check in with my students daily to make sure that they are completing their homework assignments and have no questions.
My program is rigorous and demanding, but leads to significantly higher scores very quickly. I do not give my students a chance to slack off or to stop doing their homework assignments because students are required to enter when they have completed their homework assignments, their scores, and their vocabulary words daily through a virtual tracking system that I have created.
I provide a book list including Collegeboard and Kaplan books, though can work with whatever books students already have. I incorporate technology to keep students engaged.

Pre-Algebra can be considered as one of the most important bases of all future math classes. Students become highly frustrated with the minutia of the steps, but I will step in to help them patiently see all the traps built into the work.
My friends and family often call me a professional student. I completed my associate degree within my last two years of high school through dual enrollment. Throughout my school years, I've had many experiences with professional tutors and I paid attention to how they helped me learn. I've been abl

Having read Christopher's bio, I sensed that there was something special about him, and that he was the right one for our son who has some learning challenges, particularly in the area of Math. I believe it is very important a tutor connects not only on an academic level but also where there can be some light hearted conversation. Christopher arrived punctually for our first meeting and his assessment of our son. In advance of that meeting I had explained to Christopher what the challenges are and what our collective objectives are. As soon as I saw him, he appeared to relaxed but confident. After an initial introduction, I stepped away to let Christopher and our son become acquainted and he immediately set about establishing some common ground which happened to be a particular sport. No more than Christopher, our son is also very perceptive and despite the fact that he initially resisted the idea of any tutor, his words after this first meeting were "I can work with him"! Its obviously early days yet, but so far so good!"
At the same time, Mr. Obskov helped me improve my American accent skills and I’m truly thankful for this!
