I'm knowledgeable and patient. I believe it is important to build on the student's confidence as well as their skills, because panic hurts performance almost as bad as being unprepared.

I have a Masters and a degree in Economics from Southern Illinois University. My undergrad minor was Mathematics. I am a professional economist with a heavy background in math and statistics. I've been active in this discipline for over 30 years in a wide variety of industries. I was also in the Air Force.

I have good rapport with young children, and tutor from Kindergarten to adult. It would be helpful to know what textbook your child is using so I could work from the same text (which I would either purchase or rent online).

About Mark

I have a BS in Economics (minor Math) and an MS in Economics both from Southern lllinois University at Edwardsville. I also have taken all of the coursework for a PhD in Economics from St. Louis University. I also have 30+ years of experience in Business Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics. I'

Do you want help with your math problems from someone who both excelled at math and then applied these skills as a successful engineer? I am a professional engineer and manager, specializing in cyber security, machine learning and military experimentation. I have a passion for sharing and teaching the knowledge of mathematics with others (both children and adults). Over the years, my background and experience have shaped my teaching philosophy to focus on a deep understanding of mathematical concepts (and scientific concepts, when appropriate) and a strong focus on learning to ask questions and solve problems in various ways. I want students to approach mathematics with a questioning attitude and to learn how to approach problems with a growth mindset - problems may seem difficult, but they can work to find the best ways to solve them. I have tutored many students who perceive (or have been told) that they were not "good at math" because they had trouble with a particular concept or ...

"My experience with Mr.Akib has been wonderful. He has helped me a lot with my basics as well as my entire content related to Calculus. He is really dedicated as a teacher and he doesn't let the student give up. He encourages the student to put their maximum potential.
