About Crystal
Crystal brings a lifetime’s experience of professional musicianship to each of her lessons. Born into a family of musicians, she sang her first solo at age 2. She also benefits her students with an extraordinarily diverse musical background, having worked as a vocalist in gospel, country, musical theater, jazz, classical, rock, pop and soul styles. Her performing career has taken her from L.A. church meetings to London’s Houses of Parliament.

Crystal hails originally from Los Angeles, CA - where her musical parents gave her a head start by including her in the family business the moment she was able to contribute. She went on to study classical voice, piano and music theory at The Boston Conservatory of Music. After concluding her studies in London, she returned home and began working regularly as a theater performer, appearing in twen
ty world premiers and re-imagined classics. Most notably she played the lead role of Keely Smith in the big band jazz musical “Louis and Keely: Live At The Sahara” during its eight-month run at Westwood’s Geffen Playhouse. She also formed her own rock band, The Honeysuckle Jones Revival, with whom she performed her own songs all over Los Angeles. And she began working as a studio session vocalist, providing demo vocals for other songwriters, as well as arranging and performing back-up vocals for original artists, including Laura Roppe (currently in the Top Ten on Billboard’s Uncharted list of emerging artists.) Crystal played the lead role of Brooke in the new operatic rock musical “The Burning Opera LA” during its Los Angeles run in 2011 as well as providing ensemble vocals and playing piano and bass. She also performs holiday tunes from the Golden Age of American songwriting with musical quartet The Sleigh Belles.

Crystal believes that music is serious business but that it should be fun. She encourages her students to play music they love, as well as expanding their musical knowledge. She is a firm believer in basics first and emphasizes theory and technique as the tools to support creativity and provide freedom, power and control. She believes effort beats talent every time and the student who practices consistently will see results, whatever their level of ability. Most of all, she believes we were all born to make music.

Love how she teaches the mechanics of learning to sing properly such as breathing correctly and posture right from the start for a beginner. Fantastic instructor!

Amazing singng instructor

Crystal has increased my daughter’s self-esteem and expressiveness through song. My daughter is now writing her own poetry and song lyrics, as well as being able to combat her once shyness quality. She loves to perform in front of others now and has a confidence level that amazes me, especially now that she is going into those “teen” years. I think a lot of thanks needs to go to Crystal, for assisting my daughter in reaching her current creative level!

Great piano instructor

Crystal is an amazing piano instructor. She is patient, understanding and dedicated. My daughter has learned so much from her. My daughter’s love for music has increased immensely since learning how to play the piano. This would never have been able to be accomplished without Crystal’s professional and caring teaching style.

Mrs. Jen has been a violin teacher for our daughter for 3.5 years. She is an extremely qualified and talented musician who deeply cares about her students and is committed to teaching. She is kind and patient, but also effective and motivating. When our 8 year old daughter learned Mrs. Jen was moving she said, "I probably will never have as neat or special of a violin teacher as Mrs. Jen"- and she's right!

First lesson was fine. We took a few minutes to find each other in a cafe setting but as it was also a meet and greet session I wasn't too concerned about time. As it turns out Beth more than made up the time. She's very pleasant and easy to speak with. We went over my goals, simple traveler type words, phrases and questions, and a work schedule to cover the next several weeks. Beth told me how she was going to approach teaching me after listening to my goals. I'm looking forward to the next session where we can focus on learning the language.

Dennis is extremely knowledgeable in his art. He is very patient, and not only shows you how to execute a move, but why to do it. He will challenge you, but you will not leave empty handed. Unlike some other instructors, he will not wait until you have been attending class for months to teach defenses against weapons. It is not uncommon to learn knife and gun defenses your first class. Take one of his classes and give Krav Maga a try. Something you learn there may very well save your life.

I have been training with Dennis in Krav Maga since January 2012. I had no firsthand knowledge of Krav Maga prior to this, and I found Dennis quite by accident while googling for Krav Maga classes in my area. Dennis is extremely patient with beginners and kids. He has trained me and my kids, and I would highly recommend him for any one who wants to know more and improve their Krav Maga self-defense skills. He has an extremely broad range of knowledge and skill, which he brings to the classes and demonstrates on a regular basis. Because of his wide range of experience in other martial arts, he draws together those skills into very effective training. I am honored to be a student of Dennis and look forward to many more months and years of training with him.

About Shirley
Hi I'm Shirley,

I love teaching kids the beginning steps of learning how to read. This is a gift for
children who will succeed in life from developing a foundation to build up from.
Also, I put value on the young adults today who recognize the strength in education. They can become confident after putting value on themselves by asking for tutoring instruction. I would like to see everyone succeed, so I put together my line of thought to encourage students to participate with me in online tutoring or in home learning, all levels of Algebra including Geometry, Reading, special needs, homework help, test preparation and anything else added to bring progress and stimulate minds.
