Acting is such a broad term! What are your goals? Do you want to be in films? Do you want to do Shakespeare? Do you want to be in a sit com? Depending upon what your interests are and where you want to go, we will build a plan together. My philosophy on acting techniques is that they are tools to help you, not tests you pass if you're a good actor and fail if you're a bad one. Different techniques work for different people and it is our job to find out what inspires you.

I've worked as a professional actor for many years, performed on Broadway, have my MFA in Performing Arts, and my BA in Arts and Education. I was an assistant director to Tony-winner Sharon Ott and have written and produced my own work. I have experience in both stage and camera acting, which have specific technical differences, but are both a lot of fun once you get used to the medium. Studied 'acting' with at Strasberg Institute, NYC: Walter Lott/Lee Strasberg instructors.
Performed in various off-broadway productions around NYC. Traveled with 'bus and truck tour of the Broadway play: No Place to be Somebody. Performed with NEC acting ensemble. Taught 'drama' while working as Board of Education teacher in public school. Method Acting Techniques are part of the training. Students will explore the 'senses' as part of sense memory techniques and learn monologues and dialogue training to sustain a deeper implementation of emotional using acting tools.

I have appeared as a recurring guest star on FX’s hit show “You’re The Worst” as Dan Parnell. Other TV appearances include ABC’s “Switched at Birth”, CBS’s “Criminal Minds”, Nickelodeon and many other Principle leading roles on Film and Television. With over 20 years of Acting and Teaching experience, I will provide you with specific tools and techniques that will give you the confidence you need to OWN your auditions and make a lasting impression to Casting Directors, Producers and Agents. I have extensive experience as a stage actor and teach actors of all ages. I use a natural, holistic approach and am proud to say that my students are almost always the best actors in their performances!

Stella Adler, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, and Meisner Acting Technique for Theatre/Camera is taught in private and group classes. All students are exposed to each technique and Rachel sees which technique each student responds to the most. Once the student and Rachel are able to identify the technique, Rachel continues to use the terminology of that technique for the remainder of the time the student is in lessons. Students eventually are able to play roles truthfully and realistically, even if the roles are opposite of the student's own personality.

The private acting lesson is designed to teach the student the tools they need to succeed as performers. Learn terminology, skills, and build confidence. Older students will focus on Audition, Scene Study, and Improvisation.
