Hardcore training and fun !

About Thomecia
Hello! My name is Thomecia, you may call me Mimi :)
I've been teaching at my Alma Mater, Fisk University since I stepped foot on campus in 2010. I taught routines for the cheer squad and hip hop dance team. I also choreographed for numerous students on campus. Before college I obtained 15+ years of experience in many styles of dancing as well as cheerleading. I reside in the Bay Area, and have since advanced my choreography through training, performing with a dance company, artist development, teaching local classes, and more! I love working with children! I also love a great challenge, so if you feel like you have two left feet, I could change your world! Always remember, you are the artist and your body is the paint brush... Just move!

I specialize in traditional west African dance, music and culture. I not only teach the movement but the history of the dance and the traditions and culture of the ethnic group of which the dance originates. Most importantly I believe dancing at it most basic level should always be FUN! So let's immerse ourselves in the rich cultures of Senegal, Mali and Guinea and HAVE SOME FUN doing it!
Dance is self expression and I also fusing my African dance training with hip hop and modern movement...Let's move together!

About Quianna
Quianna is a Columbus native who began training at the early age of 7. During and after college, she worked the dance audition circuit, auditioning and successfully selected to open for heavy hitters like P. Diddy, Usher and Ludacris. She was then hired full-time to be a back-up dancer for R&B group Blackstreet, and toured with them for 8 months. Her wide swathes of experience in a myriad of dance forms have informed her teaching, and her technique is firmly rooted in the methods taught to her from a very early age. In addition to her current work with Thiossane, where she is a principal dancer and assistant to the director, she recently choreographed “Renaissance Magic” a musical celebrating the Harlem Renaissance’s 100th anniversary, written by Alexis Wilson and directed by Suzan Bradford Kounta and the Lincoln Theater Association. She
is also a guest teacher for Ballet Met. She continues to teach Saturday morning classes to children ages 11-16yrs, she feels it is important to give back to those programs that has given to you.

You'll either really love or dislike WAACKING.
WAACKING is not just flailing arms around.
(although Blogilates arm workout will be recommended for sure)

WAACKING is versatile and can easily blend with contemporary, hip hop, breakdancing.

I will use my 5 top strengths (and admiration for K-Pop dancers) :

Restorative
Empathy
Developer
Connectedness
Ideation

About Heyinn
I am probably one of the bubbliest people you'll ever meet.

I graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelors in Materials Science and Engineering. My desire to serve and promote progress shines through the most when there's a learning opportunity for both parties.

Fun fact: my mom is a traditional Korean instrumentalist (plus Korean fan dance)
She influenced me in creativity.

Korean language students can quickly access authentic learning materials. The pronunciation will be enhanced through my own technique called "scatting sound method". The method was developed from my own observation of the language and my love for teaching my friends Korean.

Dance is liberating if you can master a few movements to own for yourself. When I struggled with eating disorder, dance helped me cope with anxiety. Throughout college, I independently studied
a particular dance called waacking and k-pop. As a result, I have accumulated know-hows through experiment.

As a professional engineer, my goal is to help realize what it means to be efficient learner. If it takes a tweak in system, pedagogy, or communication to help you unlock for yourself a Korean tongue or a freestyle dance soul, I am here to hear your story and cooperate.

I got my start in dance at the age of three and was classically trained in a dance school as well as in my academic school. I had my first choreography project in high school and immediately fell in love with the ability to create a story through movement. For some extra training and exposure, I began to teach at a separate dance school in addition to my high school team and my dance school I had been competing with since first starting my career. While I’m college, although I did not major in dance, I joined a semi professional company that allowed me to continue my art along with my studies and used it as an avenue for expression and self exploration. After a 20 year career, I so look forward to giving you/your children the gift that has continued to give to me for so many years.

About Julia
My love for dance grows far beyond my 20 years in the field, it has become apart of who I am and look forward to sharing that with you in a unique and exciting way! I am able to offer individualized and custom lessons that will tailor your experience to be one of a kind, ensuring you get the most out of your experience. Feel free to ask me about my exciting experiences including traveling all over the world for dance, as well as some of my experience teaching right here in my home state of North Carolina! Whether you’re 3 or 73, I’d love to teach you what the art of dance is all about.

4 Fundamental Tap Dance Steps for Beginners
Good dancers can make even the most complicated, strenuous techniques look effortless and fluid.
