About Thomas
Hi there! My name is Thomas Satalino, and I'm an instrumentalist, musician, photographer, painter, and writer. I have a passion for all things creative, and I teach people how to tap into their inherent creative ability, and find that artistic outlet they didn't even know they had!

About me:

I started playing piano at the age of 4, and have been playing musical instruments ever since. I have a passion for learning new things, and sharing my knowledge with others. Over the course of the past 5 years I have learned over 13 instruments, digital audio production, film/digital photography and darkroom processes, oil painting, cooking, and dog training. I was born and raised in Richmond Virginia where I taught for 2 years with "The Universal Room", an organization dedicated to teaching children with autism spectrum disorder the universal la
nguage of music. My approach to teaching Music is personalized, nontraditional, and heavily focused on creativity. I believe everyone is able to play an instrument, take a beautiful picture, and paint an inspirational painting. Although I can teach a student how to sight read, deep music theory is something I believe should be left to the academics. My desire is to open the heart of every person to their creative self, free of judgement, and to learn the universal language of art for art's sake.

About Shekkola
My first teaching role was as a catechist at the age of 18. After getting a degree in chemical engineering, i went to work as a process engineer and established a mentor ship program at a school with low student performance.

After working as an engineer for 11 years, I chose to enter the field of education to spend more time with my children and other children in need. My goal has always been helping others. I look forward to helping you!

Shekkola taught Math and science to my three boys in middle school and her teaching was transformative, since they neither liked math nor were good at it before she began to teach them. All three went on to science careers and two went on to take advanced math courses. Once they joined her class they began to love Mathas did all the children in Shekkola's class - which is practically unheard of. I don't know what her magic is, but I am eternally grateful to her

About Roberto
I am currently a graduate student doing research at UC Berkeley. Even though my grad studies (Aerospace Engineering) are located in the Netherlands, I decided to explore and feel new experiences coming here, as I did doing my internship in the UK or volunteering in South East Asia (were I did some class-style teaching to local Indonesian kids and teenagers for more than 3 weeks!).

All those experiences have brought me a great multicultural understanding, which, although may look no related, helps a lot when getting to know your new student.

Sports nature and music enter the top three of my hobbies. Simple living as a lifestyle.

I have been (still am) a student for many years, and therefore I understand very well how frustation, not.comprehending or learning new material feels. They say the best way of experiencing and knowing about s
omething is doing it.
