I have taken acting classes myself over the years, and as the writer/director of a web series, I have to have a connection with the actors I work with. Specifically, I work with aspiring actors on reading, using nerves to their advantage, method acting and channeling experience through the character.

About Olivia
I love to create. The way I'm most comfortable creating is through writing; whether it's a song, a short story, a poem or a script. Writing has always been the bass line in my life; the heartbeat.

Music and film are both passions of mine. I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I studied Songwriting and Music Therapy. I was pushed to my absolute limits lyrically and musically within these majors, and I am so grateful for it now that I'm on my own creative journey.

I have a great deal of experience, but I am also still learning. I think it is very important as a teacher to always be learning, especially through their students. Teaching these lessons is, of course, about progress and advancement - but also about enjoyment, confidence building and positive encouragement.

My daughter LOVES Olivia - she is a great teacher and maximizes each hour with her, teaching her skills she can use and build on week after week. She is very knowledgable and teaches in a logical, structured manner to ensure that the subject is understood and true learning occurs. Olivia is patient with our daughter as she learns new concepts and provides great feedback. We couldn't be happier with the lessons Olivia presents to our daughter!

Awesome

Finding Olivia was no coincidence. My 11 year old daughter is so psyched when she has her lessons!
It is in Liv's home, just a 10 minute ride from where we live,it's warm, safe, and filled with talent.
The passion of music is everywhere you look,Daphne and Olivia are
Ike old souls that just jive together perfectly.
Daphne has gained confidence,a mentor, and a ton of fun,
I thought Daphne was on a short lived path,as kids often jump from one idea to the next, but I believe singing is something she will definitely peruse.
I am so pleased with Take Lessons and especially Olivia.

Acting with ease is mostly about really being relaxed and at peace while fulfilling a role. The best acting comes from having passion and confidence in the choices that you have made while you have prepared. The greatest obstacle? The inner critic, the inner skeptic, the inner dragon that works hard to put on the breaks and make us question ourselves and whether it is safe or not to let go. My job is to help you feel safe enough to be able to trust your creative instincts and your natural impulses. I'm more of a kind, compassionate, understanding and forgiving coach who nurtures the talent that is already in there. We all know you've got it -- who are we kidding?

About Gabriel
Gabriel W. ("Musiciano") is a fiery and passionate vocal instructor proficient in the fields of acting, singing and vocal development. A professional singer, actor and teacher with a BFA in Theater Arts.

Gabriel doesn't just possess a formal college education, but more importantly an "informal" education based on his experiences on the stage and in the studio in the real world. Gabriel's approach is direct, simple and to the core, getting straight to the heart of the matter: developing the voice from the inside out by breaking things down to the essentials.

An expert at creating vocal warm-ups, vocal exercises, and vocal cool-downs and deeply passionate about psychology, this is your guy for learning to keep your voice in shape and having access to helpful insights and advice. Learn to cultivate a healthy attitude and how to create
and survive a career in the world of performing arts.

With a kind and compassionate, yet stern and strong tone, Gabriel will work with you to develop the focus and dedication necessary to get your voice beyond what you even knew was possible.

*** Lesson Details ***
Regardless of the genre you sing, developing your voice with Gabriel's help will improve your tone, range, power and overall ability. You can expect to become a much better singer without losing any of your personal and unique traits.

His approach isn't a technical or mysterious one. It's all about re-learning the facts about how the voice functions best.

You can expect to clear away a lot of confusions regarding how the voice works and to take away the guesswork from the vocal development process.

If you want to improve your voice quickly, being guided by someone who understands how it all works and by someone who was where you are today and is now closer to where you want to be in the future is the best way to go. And Gabriel is that guy!

Gabriel's approach is quite simple, yet very effective at developing the entire voice.

"There are two basic levels that every singer must address. The first one is addressing the condition of the body and voice and the second one is addressing the functioning of the voice and body."

I - Silent Foundation

The silent foundation refers to the condition of your instrument as it is silent. If we are looking at the body as an instrument that sings, we first have to make sure that our instrument is in good condition. How healthy is your instrument? Is it well rested, well hydrated and loose? Or is it tired, dehydrated and tense? As you could guess, the condition of your instrument will have a significant impact on the quality of the sounds you make. So the first thing to be addressed is how your instrument is before it starts making sound.

II - Conditioning of Singing Behaviors

This is when we get busy. Once we have a well rested, healthy, hydrated and relaxed instrument we can start working it out. The goal is to condition our singing behaviors to be reflexive, reliable and strong. The way to do this is through a series of vocal exercises that will condition your voice to respond to the desires of your heart. Whatever it is that you want to express will be possible once your instrument is conditioned to the point where there is no gap between what you want to express and your ability to do so. Learning to sing is all about learning how to express yourself without barriers. You should be able to develop enough range, power, control and skill so that you can express your heart without feeling like you'™re incapable of achieving what you pursue. To achieve these abilities training is often necessary.

For 5 years I have taught audition seminars and done private coaching. The growth and success of my students professionally and personally is the most important thing to me.

Have an upcoming audition? Need to prepare for a class? Whatever your needs, we will work on material (sides/monologues), attire, head shot/resume, attitude, and confidence. I love to teach and I do so with encouragement and compassion. I believe that is most effective way to teach and grow!

About Darragh
Hi There! My name is Darragh G. and I am a Freelance Casting Director here in NYC. Over the past 5 years I have worked in Casting for Broadway (MTC), Off-Broadway (MTC/Playwrights Horizons), Television, & Film (VH1, Jen Rudin, CSA, Kate Lacey, CSA, Dave Caparelliotis, CSA, and numerous major Casting Directors in NYC.

Meeting new actors is a major part of my job. I also LOVE to teach! The success and growth of my students is extremely important to me. Acting is an exploration of the 'human condition' through art and an extension of ones self by way of personal discovery.

Whether looking to strengthen your auditioning or acting skills, together we will create a plan that best suits your needs and talents. Having been an actor myself I understand how discouraging this business can be. If you can access the other side of it as a
rtistic discovery, you will leave any class or audition having created something for YOU!

Walking into an audition room can be intimidating-- but it doesn't have to be! I have learned to love auditioning for stage and screen by uncovering discoveries in the text, embracing spontaneity in the room, and giving myself permission to breathe (it's a lot of breathing). I can't wait to help you find the same tools and help you gain the confidence to kill it every time. Auditioning is really just another chance to perform, after all!

About Becca
I grew up in Idaho, but these days I'm thrilled to have an extensive stage career as an actor in primarily Shakespeare and new work, working off-Broadway and in major regional theatres like the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. I'm a proud member of Actor's Equity, and a represented client of a top NYC agent-- both achievements I received right out of college after booking a major regional show.

Like many of my students, I grew up in a small town (mine was in Idaho) before the acting bug bit. I learned to love auditioning early, earning acceptance into Interlochen Arts Academy, the top high school performing arts boarding school in the country at age 15. After thriving there, I was accepted into a handful of top college theatre programs, ultimately choosing to study at Fordham University in New York City, where I graduated summa cum laude. S
ince then, I haven't stopped auditioning!

Now that you know I know a thing or two, here's how you'll know I'm a good fit for you:
-- You're interested in feeling more confident in auditions or onstage.
-- You're willing to take chances with me in a safe, caring environment.
-- You want a partner who will invest in your progress.
-- You're open to learning from me, and allowing me to learn from you.
-- You're trying to figure out where you fit as an actor.
-- You're ready to be surprised by yourself!

Becca is the bomb! I've done a couple of Shakespeare plays, but she taught me a lot about the text and the history of the play that I didn't know. She helped me create a subtext to the whole monologue, so I always had actions to take even without a scene partner there. I want to do a Falstaff monologue soon, and I definitely want her to help me with that, too.

Becca was AWESOME! From the moment we met, I felt really comfortable with her, which is obviously really important for acting. I had a monologue I was working on, and Becca helped me get out of a rut with it. I felt super confident going to my audition afterwards, and like I had a lot of things I could take with me from the lesson to my next audition.
