Acting lessons consist of learning valuable skills for theater, film, and commercial work. Students will work on monologues and learn through characterization, relationships, motivation, and much more. Source materials include Uta Hagens's "Respect For Acting," and Michael Shurtleff's "Audition."

About Sandra
Sandra began her training at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia. She is a two time recipient of the Mario Lanza Award, and holds a B.M. degree in opera from the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. In New York, she studied Shakespeare at the HB Studios, and received on-camera training at the Weisst- Barron Commercial School. Sandra is a member of Actor's Equity.

Sandra was engaged for seven years at Theater des Westens in Berlin, Germany, where she performed extensively in Musicals and Operetta. She also toured throughout Germany with the ensemble "Operetten Express". In the U.S., Sandra has toured nationally with "Man of La Mancha" and "Carousel", and has performed leading roles in many regional theaters. She also performed in the Off-Broadway

I've taught with Walnut Street Theatre, Lantern Theater Company, Theatre Horizon, Delaware Theatre Company, and Philadelphia Theatre Company. I received her BA in Theatre from Temple University with a minor in Art History.

and as an administrative assitant for an engineering consulting firm. I have also worked for multiple restaurants and catering companies as a server, bartender, and management, and has been a freelance wedding coordinator.

Everyone is different which means that everyone’s career will take a different path. That is why I not only offers actor coaching, but career coaching; resume/headshot review, where to submit, protocol before and after the audition, how to self-produce your own work, and anything else you may need or want to know.

I love working with students and finding what works for each individual. Actor training is amazing for public speaking, critical thinking and problem solving. I love watching my students grow and expand.

My daughter has been taking lessons with Joanne for the past several months. She loves Joanne and enthusiastically looks forward to her lesson each week! Our family has had no prior experience with acting in any capacity, and Joanne has ignited a true passion for the craft in my daughter. Joanne really understands and knows how to connect with children; she is very kind, patient and experienced. My daughter describes her as awesome and super-fun! Each lesson is well-organized and exciting! Immediately after each lesson, she sends comprehensive follow up notes on the week's activities. We recommend Joanne to everyone! Joanne is truly a lovely person and teacher.

I loved working with Joanne! She directed me in a play(Sex In Manhattan) and I really enjoyed and benefited from her ability to direct. She was motivating and inspiring and gave excellent notes for me as an actor. I just returned from being oversea for many years as I was acting in action movies in Asia and one of the first people I contacted was Joanne to see what she was working on. I would love to work on another play if she puts something up and would recommend any actor to try and audition or take classes from her. Thanks Joanne and if your back in LA let me know if you have anything for me to come and audition, great luck!

The Spring Play is coming up and you want that main role don't you? Book a spot now.

About Derek
I am Professional Singer, Conductor, Music Teacher, and Church Musician. I graduated from Crown College in St. Bonifacius, MN in 2016 with a B.A. in Vocal Performance and a B.M.E. in Vocal and General Music Education. I have extensive experience with training choirs as well as solo performers both in and out of college.

Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice is different and needs to be treated with great care and attention. I will work with the students to expand their range and find what works best for THEIR voice. Every voice I have taught has dramatically improved with a few just weeks under my instruction. I can help anyone sing with confidence and grace.

As a music teacher I have experience teaching in a title 1 K-8 school where I taught a variety of ages and skill levels
including students with special needs in our school's cross-categorical classes. From song writing with my middle school students to basic piano skills to choir. I have donet it all in the music classroom.

As a conductor and performing musician I have had the blessing and opportunity to travel all over the world. Some of the highlights of my career have been a 5-week opera program in Siena, Italy. During this time we lived in apartments and were fully immersed in the Italian culture, we performed over 20 times during those 5 weeks. Other musical ventures include various Choir tours throughout the United States and Europe.

My personal passion is Classical and Broadway music but I firmly believe that great basic technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

My son had just expressed interest in acting so we worked with Kate in 6 sessions helping him become more comfortable with auditioning, cold reading and scene work. She was attentive, creative and knowledgeable. She made him feel confident and even helped him make some connections with possible agents and managers. The fact that she’s actively auditioning and knows the current state of the industry is a game changer! We continue to work with her for specific auditions and coachings, she’s awesome!

Anytime I'd be working on a monologue or a scene, she would always allow me to do what I felt my instincts were driving me to do and then she'd have insightful conversations afterwards where I'd think about things I wasn't thinking of before, regarding the character or the scene. It gave me a completely new perspective to try the scene again where we'd then tweak things that needed tweaking. She's got a great eye and ear for this stuff!
